Man have not been to kennywood since i was 10 yrs old now 35 and that old wurlitzer is still working, wonder how they keep it working, and oh yea that first song is from the wizard of oz, ding dong the wicked witch is dead, I think the wurlitzer was put in , in the 1920,s !!!! there is a documentray film all about kennywood park, seen it on wqed pbs... Kennywood is open if you know what that means?
I have a Carousel Music CD which is a recording of a Wurlitzer Band Organ Style 153 which has 27 songs on the CD. Sadly, that wasn't one of them. But I agree with Lufterzen, it does sound like the "Ding dong, the witch is dead" song.
I'm from Florida and I'm an avid amusement park and roller coaster enthusiast and I'm planning my first trip to Kennywood this summer and I can't wait. I bought the QED special DVD called Kennywood Memories and saw (among other things) that Mr. Sacramento has been running the Carousel for many years and I was wondering if he's still there?
ROFLMFAO!! That video was filmed in 88' or 89' i think, so a lot of stuff has changed and stuff has been removed, added and moved, so there is a lot of stuff still there how it looks in the vid, but most of it is gone. one thing, though, since that video, there has been a BIG addition: Lost kennywood, a giant parking lot when that was filmed
Mr Scaramento was the greatest guy I ever met and he passed away but I can assure you that I keep his spirit alive everyday I am working at the park so please stop by and ask for Jack Putnak and I will tell you all about the history of the park and show you Tonys Horse and any other questions that you many have. He was a good friend of mine and meant so much to the Pittsburgh area and Kennywood park a truly terrific person !
It's cool...the new Spanish Kennywood's Grand Carousel (el Carouselo Grando) plays "La Cukaracha" and has mules instead of horses for the kiddies to ride. Half of the lights don't work also.
Every other company wanted to "Revitalize Kennywood" meaning change it. Kennywood is fine the way it is. This was the only company with a good offer that wanted to keep it the way it was. So what if they're from another company. I've gone to Kennywood at least once a year for my entire life. If it changed, I'd be heartbroken.

Notice how the lights inside the drums are really bright. they have really dim light bulbs in the drums now. i wish they still used the bright ones

There's a good reason the carousel is referred to as the "Soul of Kennywood"...

@Jboxton On behalf of El Kennywoodo's new owners, they should buy roll #13109! (Mexican music)

So they sold our Beloved Kennywood.
another part of Americana sold off to a company from another country.

Leave kennywood alone. It's fine. It's perfect. It's Awesome.

yes I feel they should leave it alone, sure if you wanna add some new rides... fine just leave it the way it is..... but....
I sure wish we could spend our money in PA and then keep it here in PA
I guess I'm the only one here whom has been watching the US dollar fall?
incase you haven't been watching the news the US dollar is almost worthless these days.
bugsycline 3 years ago
yes, that is (obviously) right.

You mean "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead"? The organ is playing a Wizard of Oz medley.
