  • Man. I wish I was older. Old enough to have went and paid for one of his shows :/

  • Can you guys stop saying he tells the truth or who tells the truth its Carlin's observations and experiences in his life, its not your life,

  • How come the Jews and the Irish are so prevalent in comedy?

  • @acehicks78 chris rock and probably the best commedian RIchard Pryor were black

  • When Jerry said, "We were just talking about death!"

Am I the only one who immediately thought "So? Didn't help."

  • How in God's name did Larry King ever have a career as an interviewer... he's arguably the worst interviewer I've ever seen...

  • 6:19 sounds like Larry says thank you vagining us Jerry

  • lol that is a good question if you ask me

  • Larry annoys Jerry & Jerry seems to think Larry knows this.

  • Sorry Jerry but you're off on that one. Jerry may do jokey material that isn't based upon truth. He is a light, fluffy, fun based comedian, albeit very talented at doing so. The GREAT ones tell the truth and THAT is what makes them is most ingenious, clever, and hilarious.

  • @rogerrodd Seinfeld is correct. It is hardly some keen observation to note that as humans(comedians would be members of that group) we all say things,at times, things that we don't necessarily believe in,in part,whole-heartedly,in passing etc.

The difference between "you" & "I", the civilian,if you will, and the professional comic/comedian/artist is that the pro does what he/she does in exchange for some more tangible reward in addition to whatever intrinsic value the acts may hold

  • @rogerrodd

He said most comedians like Louis CK ..Seinfeld etc..he knows, everybody knows Carlin spoke the truth!

  • jerry is definitely working larry king...he's a fucking tool

  • carlin contributed to my depression

  • This guy was in a show with laugh machine and bullshit which totally discredit whatever he got to say about Carlin

  • @CroissantOrange Like he spoke badly about Carlin.... he praised him a lot, you mean to say all the praise is to be discredited and Carlin was an idiot?

  • yeah, you can tell Seinfeld is still irritated at Larry.

  • Man... Seinfeld REALLY does hate Larry King.

  • I respect Carlin for his ability to overcome Western propaganda and see the world with clean fresh eyes. I also admire the precision in his choice of word. - says a devoted Muslim.

  • Very smart thing Jerry said about politicians and the truth.

  • It becomes more and more obvious that Larry is completely missing the point.

  • larry king is such a dweeb george was a giant

  • I just want to say. Thank you mister Georges Carlin for all the hours you made me laugh.

  • The mainstream media always praises Carlin and calls him brilliant, but they censor his funniest bits. Carlin was extremely critical of politics, the government, etc. but the media can't afford to show that on live TV. It's against their business interests. Which is why Carlin is mainly remembered for the Seven Words, even though it's one of his more inferior works IMO.

  • @URSExelcior I get what your saying. When he died the media just kinda watered down his legacy as the "wacky old hippie who said a lot of naughty words! ha ho!" ignoring the fact that he constanly bashed their industry and ideas.

  • Kudos Jerry. RIP George.

  • Jerry is cool, you can see how much respect he had and still has for Carlin, likewise I believe that Carlin had respect for Jerry's comedy.

  • "one of the untouchable giants of comedy" perfectly articulated.

  • 2:31 underhanded bastard larry king is

  • did carlin believe most of what he was saying?

  • @theparadox89 I think that I understand why you asked that. I am a big Carlin fan. I think, or I like to think, Carlin understood and believed what he said. I think that was what was unique about him: he knew that what he said was the truth or at least noteworthy & he believed it or believed that the audience would believe it. So I can't believe that he didn't believe "most" of what he said. Just saying it for the sake of being funny, doesn't seem Carlin to me. He meant all of it. Or most of it.

  • @Freddieboy44 That is why I was asking, thanks that's reassuring.

  • @Freddieboy44

I agree...I think it's obvious when he doesn't believe what he is saying...such as silly little jokes for the sake of it...but when it came to the serious stuff...religion, war, politicians etc....what made us laugh was because he told the truth..and in doing so showed us the absurdity of these things... By telling us the truth he showed us the lies in religion and politics etc...and showed us how these people try to get away with such lies...that's why he was so funny.

  • I Love Jerry and I Would love to see another Seinfeld HBO Special.

  • @AmericaJustin Me too. You see the Curb Seinfield reunion?

  • the email larry gets is so smart!

  • It's like they chose to show the most vulgar and simplistic bits of his material, just to paint him as some provocative fool, a rebel without a cause, when he was much more. Doing this helps to diminish the important lessons that he tried to teach trough his comedy.

  • 4:48. THAT'S how you remember George. Light one up and smoke one for the guy.

  • Jerry Seinfeld is so full of shit. Not on his word about Carlin. Carlin was awesome, but Jerry is fake and says whatever to keep TV show offers coming. People know him mainly from the show Seinfeld, not his comedy stand up act. Even though he interjected parts of his stand up into the show.

  • @Oscgren8de Bollocks.

  • Seinfeld would not have HAD a TV show unless he had slugged away at stand up for 10+ years beforehand. And since ending his show in '98, he's developed one documentary (about stand up), an animated feature, and a quasi-game-panel show. The bulk of his work post-Seinfeld has been stand up. Seinfeld doesn't NEED or SEEK "offers". If he were TV-centric, why end a #1 rated show? Carlin alludes to people like you in this tribute. Five seconds more and you could've worked all this out yourself.

  • George carlin saw it, the government/religion/stuff your fed from birth, I watched all george material since i could remember all shows all specials, GEORGE CARLIN woke me up!!!!!, think of what he says if you talk about aliens and what not people regard you as a nutcase or whatever, but talk religion and o watch out... go watch some george stuff then look up alex jones documentaries on changedachannel you tube channel, this is what george saw and tried to tell people in his shows.

  • George Carlin had a tendency to exaggerate in order to make his jokes funnier. There is some truth to what he said but he was definitely an extremist and an exaggerator. In fact, only about 25% of the things he said were true and 75% were exaggerations (in order to get people's attention.) But he believed in what he said as he was an extremist. Everything was either black or white to him, but nothing was in between. He was a sensasionalist and used sensasionalism to get people's attention.

  • @kamretnas Yeah, an extremist that used words instead of physically attacking religion. Show some fucking respect for someone who wasn't scared of speaking his mind. I hate when people belittle an artist in saying their success was based on selling something false when actually, their success was based on people enjoying the truth and someone standing up to power hungry bullshitters. It's like people who call Jim Carrey's talent "acting like an idiot for laughs" as if there's no talend involved.

  • @kamretnas At least one point in a joke is exaggerated for fun in comedy, even Carlin mentioned that in one of his shows. He knew that his views were unusual, pessimistic, misanthropic, and very radical; but he was very sensible and truthful with his opinions and beliefs. Honesty isn't sensationalism for attention, falsehood and deception is. He was straightforward sincere, and that's why people love him. For not showing hypocrisy and pretense, and for showing reason, brilliance and laughter.

  • That question was soo on point that Seinfeld ended up questioning the question. Lol. This is life. One way or another the masses will believe in the lies and there will only be a few with the actual brain capacity to think for themselves. The masses will fall because they only listen everyone else in the masses and could never comprehend the power of one human mind. Much less combining intellect to create a better world for all of us. Carlin I said this many a time, but R.I.P.

  • larry king is a mother fucking kiss ass.

  • lol "He was funny even if you couldn't hear the words" exactly what i was thinking about that clip

  • "are you jerry seinfeld or WERE you george carlin?"... carlins not dead. he lives through us

  • Jerry is so touched by that compliment. Shows how much Carlin meant to him

  • jerry looked like he was about to cry before that email came up. i think thats why he said finally. touching

  • Sports!

  • An untouchable giant, how true!

  • what did jerry say 2:42 in the middle of king talkin

  • @Yamakashi1 It's unintelligible as far as I can hear.. Seinfeld mumbles it too softly for me to make it out but I would assume it's negative against King. I don't think Seinfeld likes King very much.

  • @Yamakashi1

    He said "finally".

  • @mapscannotcontainme nope, he said smth else.

  • @mapscannotcontainme he said that a little after that.

  • @Yamakashi1

    Oh, my bad.

I believe Seinfeld said, "That's something, you know?" I think Seinfeld was still taking in being given that compliment by Carlin in the video King showed.

  • @mapscannotcontainme well the sound is merging with king saying "from bill in" and what seinfeld is saying sounds like the same tone, its very similar. it's not a whole sentence "That's something, you know" doesnt fit.

  • @Yamakashi1

OK. My last guess is that he is saying"...so I'm here now." I've played it about twenty times in a row and that's the most solid guess I can come up with. It would fit with what Seinfeld was saying too...being that he missed Carlin complimenting him on King, but he's on King now to pay tribute in remember Carlin. If that doesn't work then I'm all out of guesses. It's either "That's something, you know" or "so I'm here now." I think it's the latter.

  • Well first u have context of the convo and second is the actual mouth movements and sound. What im hearing for sure is the second or third word is "now"(ur 2nd guess) , it might be "somebody you know" (ur first guess) , but it sounds more like "it's ---- now" maybe "it's on bill now" ,but it sounds like "bill" cos that's what king is saying. i dun even know why im playin fbi mouth-reader /or w/e that proffesion is called. rofl.

  • I'm sorry I missed that show Larry NOT !

  • That senile old fuck said sports as a big issue, didn't he?

  • Did Larry seriously add sports to the "big issue" pile!?!?

along the side of genocide, hatred, love, war....

    I hope I heard wrong

  • @holm81 lol i heard that too XD

  • @holm81 lmao he did say that, what an idiot

  • What Jerry is missing and/or leaving out is how George Carlin didn't think of himself as just a comedian, but more of a rebel who happened to use comedy as his weapon. There were several opportunities to express this during the interview; Jerry didn't seize that opportunity.

  • i'm crying watching this! He truly waws a comic genius..... He is missed....

  • from Bill in Slidell... yeah can I get those TPS reports by the end of the day?

  • what happened to the actual larry king interview?

  • Holy hell im actually crying ... he will be missed. lets keep his ideas flowing everybody... take a hit and pass it off to the next gens... respect GC.

  • jerry was truely hurting at georges passing, king was'int.

  • Seinfeld at 2:27 looks like he's going to lose it.

  • Seinfeld is so bizarre in this interview; he's like the Jay Leno robot.

  • @featheon

His friend had just died lol. Shit, i was bummed out when Carlin died and i didn't even know him in real life.

  • But you must also note the interview in which King misspoke about Seinfeld being canceled. I don't think they like each other, on a hunch.

  • @featheon

Yeah I've seen that. It's probably a mixture of both those things.

  • his friend just died and their recording his reaction...

  • Carlin was the shit, and always will remain the comic with the best well written stuff!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bill Hicks was the same as Carlin both GENIUSES ( basically just brutally honest people with the balls to say it... As it is !)

  • why does Jerry say "finally" right before the first question from the viewers is asked?

  • I was wondering that too. It seemed like he was getting a little choked up watching all the videos of carlin and he didn't want to see or hear them at the time. That's just a guess though

  • @sturmraist50 'cause he isn't enjoying Larry King

  • Haha, George Carlin wasn't worried about dying in the very least. I say have fun in hell if that where he went, I'll bet ten to one that satan is laughing his ass off.

  • @kungfujellybean lol ,

  • @kungfujellybean

Fuck you Carlin didnt go to hell lol He told the painful truth so he went to..... that other place ! Too bad your kind dont get that

    ps

May you burn in hell..... for your lousy comment ....about a great man !

  • @ZEITGEISTism Whatever you say, faggot. Your mother and I have been discussing your mouth, and we feel it's time you learned to shut it! You're grounded for two weeks, no internet allowed!

When you surface, we need to discuss you getting out of the basement and moving on with your life.

  • @kungfujellybean

Shut up you imbecile ...You assume to much (Im a hetrosexual female & DONT live with my mummy so.... Tough ! ) Hey whats that noise ? Oh its just your parole officer coming to throw your ass back in jail for once again violating your parole ya Bloody loser (get ur shit together

  • @ZEITGEISTism For an alleged "heterosexual female" you sure sound a lot like a dyke... I'm just sayin'.

Now how about less talk, and more make me a fucking sandwich. I'm actually planning to visit Switzerland later on next year, so I'll expect my home cooked meal waiting at the airport.

You need to shut your bitch mouth, and learn that when you go around picking fights, some people fight back.

  • @kungfujellybean

lol I sound like a dyke ? ha ha oh well better that , than sounding like a bitter twisted ol faggot like YOU !

    ps

Dont bother coming to my country lol customs will probably deny you entry anyway (on the grounds of your filthy mouth.... too much contamination spewing out of it ..We like to keep things clean here ! )

    pps

You started this fight, when you disrespected George Carlin AND Im gonna finish it ...So YOU shut your bitch mouth ...(or I will shut it for you ! )

  • @ZEITGEISTism Yap-yap sayeth the cunt! Pardon me, prostitute, but I may be in need of your services whilst I'm enjoying my stay in your country, still charging 2 francs per session?

My filthy mouth? Hmm, defending George Carlin and attaching negative connotations towards the use of bad language is quite the paradox.

In all seriousness I'm a big fan of the Swiss. Other than my country, you guys are the only ones who defend the rights of citizens to own firearms. But you're still a bitch.

  • @kungfujellybean

Ah Shut you Aides ridden pathetic little faggot You're in danger of boring the hell outta me

    PS

LOL ...You dont know shit about my country ! You typical trailer trash redneck that was dragged up not raised up Stay the fuck out of my country We dont want scum like you here (We have very strong enviromental programs...... No pollution allowed ! ... Human or otherwise )

Foolish me ! After all ,,,,........" Talk sense to a FOOL and they will call you foolish "

    ( Euripides )

    ps

Im done talking to a fool like you! Consider all your future responses automatically deleted by me! Shame on me for stooping to your level (the gutter )

  • @ZEITGEISTism Awww, sweetie! Not giving up already are you? Admitting that you're a fool is a very strong first step towards capitulation.

I'd really love to meet you when I'm in town, baby ; ). Don't worry about the fact that you're a little old for me, I'd totally bang a 46 year old woman such as yourself.

    Just let me know.

  • @kungfujellybean

lol what makes you think Im 46yrs old ? (you imbecile Im not even close to that age !)

Im sure your just a dirty old man (masquerading as a dirty young man )

    ps

But pray... DO TELL ! why you think Im older than you ? hmm ? (lol could it be because i seem wiser than you ? I am ! asshole !)

  • @ZEITGEISTism

    You remind me of a story;

A young man came into his father's study one day and asked him, "Father, what is a cunt?" His father thought a moment, opened a drawer on his desk and pulled out a Playboy magazine. Spreading out the centerfold, he took a pen and drew a circle around the playmate's crotch and said, "son, this is a vagina, everything outside of the circle is a cunt".

I left you a little message on your channel, old woman ; )

  • @kungfujellybean i'll bet 10 to 1 he runs the place now

  • @kungfujellybean he is not in hell,

    he is god. lol

  • @kungfujellybean Ya know, I think he's down there now, SCREAMING UP AT US!

  • @asdfghjkl6661 And I think he's in severe pain.

  • I would have expected someone smart like Jerry Seinfeld to have a better answer to the e-mail question, like "Politicians tell you what you want to hear, and comedians dont". Yeah its a generic go to answer, but its still true.

"Who dies at 70 anymore" was funny though, and Larry King actually seemed happy at 2:35 to be able to show Seinfeld that clip of Carlin complimenting Jerry...

  • Jerry, You put it so well, he will forever be un-touchable. RIP George Carlin, You funny ass bastered =)

  • I said Larry King is Skeletor not Jerry.

  • Funny... Carlin spoke about things people say when someone dies..."...I was just talking to him...well it didn't do him any good, it's almost as though the act you you talking to him sped up the process..."

  • looks like Jerry is holding back from being funny Larry is such a skeletor.

  • @cetnikz

No, Seinfeld isn't Skeletor, whatever that means. At the time, he had just lost a good friend and besides dealing with that, he wanted to pay a respectful, worthy homage to Carlin on international TV. There's a time and a place for silly humor.. A wake or a funeral isn't it and this interview in the televised memorial equivalent.

  • carlin was the absolute best.. far better than any other comedian.. he had every style of comedy in his act.. and he made it work every time

  • Search "religion is bullshit". The best Carlin observation ever.

  • biggest bs storry ever told :)

Carlin was the best. and he will be for a looooong time! RIP

  • @seattle0002 I pray to Joe Pesci lmao!

  • @seattle0002 one of the best...hard to give just one...lol

  • i think the worst thing we could do is forget all about him in the next ten years,

we owe it to george to bring up his name whenever "funny" is the topic or interest.

out of all the comedians ive listend to george has been the most influencial

  • @seahawksphan I don't think that's possible, at least concerning people that have a healthy sense of humor.

  • here hear

  • seinfewld is the best show since facts of life and i really think george carlin is bringing the peace onto the comedy earth

  • It's easier because the comedian has no interest in having you jailed and, even if they did, they don't have the power to do so.

  • The e-mail qustion was just perfect.

  • I agree

that was the kind of question I wish I came up with

    kudos

  • we still have doug stanhope

  • who?

  • George Carlin is the best. He will be a mainstay in my life, like a breathe of fresh air.

He speaks the truth, I reckon. To have his wonderful oration whizzing through your ears and hitting your brain is just great!

Will probably listen to him everyday.

  • I love Jerry and I love George Carlin! Have just discovered Carlin and I am rapt about him.

Those cretins who feel the need to criticize Jerry - I wish they would go outside and find a piece of dog shit and express their views about that, and leave humanity alone.

Your views are about as good as dog shit.

  • Seinfeld is good, yet he satirizes a small portion of life. Carlin did it all "the English language, the small stuff, and the big stuff like god, religion, death, war, politics, love, earth and the meaning of life"

OK, so what else is there? Carlin was so prolific because he laughed at absolutely everything, so his material was infinite. Jerry did say this right: "He is one of the untouchable giants of comedy".

  • RIP Georgie boy

  • Jerry should have just said, in response to the email question, the truth hurts.... its worse when its right there in your face and george threw it at you, hardball...no underhand.

  • your stupid

  • i want to answer the question that the viewer had, the answer to that is because, politicians are there and they say things just to make people fee good so people will accept our governments bullshit because they're makin you think they're helpin you, but when carlin comes and tells the truth most people hate him cause most people cant accept that our government doesnt give a fuck about us.

  • well said my friend

  • Comedians tell the truth, but they lie in order to tell it - that's what he was trying to say. They'll say something happened to them that is hilariously true and a great observation of life, but it probably didn't actually happen to them.

  • I remember watching this the day it aired. I asked myself, 'why Seinfeld'?

Don't get me wrong, I like his act, but I don't see any Carlin influence in it, unless your talking exclusively about George's observationist side.

His influence on Lewis Black and Bill Maher is much more obvious.

  • because the media prefers Jewish point of views. remember who owns the media?

  • "because the media prefers Jewish point of views. remember who owns the media?"

Well Ted Turner started this particular station. We've got George Soros over at MSNBC and Rupert Murdoch at Fox. Only one of them is Jewish, so I don't quite get your point.

  • "all north american media is under jewish control, dont be fooled. "

Yeah, I feel so sorry for those marginalized Christians.

Bugger off with that nonsense, will ya?

  • no problem, lol! and, i feel sorry for anyone who follows any religion, regardless of which one it is.

  • I agree. I never really associated Seinfeld with Carlin at all. Their acts are nothing alike.

  • They were best friends for years.

  • I think your comment is right on.

But the fact that Seinfeld is in a league of his own... and has in own brand humor.

and is a mentor to many comedians.

    makes him a better observer.

  • Larry: "Alright and now I'm gonna try and pull my head out of my ass WATCH!"

  • This whole interview is awkward....Larry King is useless, I can't believe he gets paid for this. His reserach is poor, he doesn't ask good questions, he doesn't build on responses. Sheesh.

  • From 2:27 onwards it seems that Jerry's about to cry.

  • Well, his friend just died, so...?

  • haha i thought that too.

  • Greeting's...

    RE: This Interview...

Seinfeld is a coward when it comes to his comments about the public and politicians. (That's why he can't give an honest answer to King about Carlin)

He is nothing like Carlin regarding their respective routines.

BTW... I love the "Seinfeld" TV show and own the entire DVD collection

    Aaron A. Castellon

    South Bay, CA USA

  • this is youtube not a magazine

  • what did Jerry mumble at 2:35-2:43?

  • The job of a politician is to tell people what they want to hear, and if not, to make things as palatable as possible; the job of a comedian is to tell the truth, and to say the unsayable.

"The job of the comedian is to find where that line is, and then to deliberately cross it." - George Carlin

  • 2:39- 2:45 LOL! i love when jerry mumbles.

  • At 2:42 and 2:46 is Jerry making comments about the connection to the show?

  • I belive he is haha

  • Noone Laughs at a reputation.

    Lets see.

I'm gonna give you one name.

    Sarah Palin.

    Think of her reputation,

And how laughable her reputation of being pure, unadulteratedly STUPID

  • two totally different comedians.

  • Jerry contradicts himself. He starts off by saying that you know exactly what a comedian means when he says something whereas politicians are vague. But then he says comedians speak with a kernel of truth and a lot of lies spun around it.

Not exactly the best philosopher ever.

  • erm, he was making a joke about comedians themselves in a sense how ironic that comedians might tell the truth, but really they have a seed of truth then everything else is just stuff they come up with for their routines.

  • Yes but the lies spun around it are the humor that you find from other peoples experiences and what you may have observed but not actually done. Whereas what a politician has actually done is much more important than saying what the people want to hear.

  • Jerry was very emotional in this and I don't think Larry King really got it. Larry's too close to death himself to care. Someone here said Larry was doing his shtick and that's exactly right. The man has been pure shtick for years if not decades. That's why so many influential people are willing to do his show. They know there will be no surprises. Kind of like a Presidential debate.

  • That was a wonderful tribute.

  • I think its was the irony of his jokes that made him one of the greatest comedians of all time.

The things in life that can cancel each other out, but yet can't exist without the other.

    Remember,

If God has a sense of humor, then its a sense of Irony.

  • George Carlin is one of those man I wish would live forever and just come out with HBO specials... hehe... no.. i really hope so in a non-corny way...

  • Man, Jerry was really pissed that day. Larry was trying to make the conversation funny and it just wasn't the right thing to do. Not when the inspiration of every modern comedian has just died.

  • As Confucious might say, he made his name immortal by his virtue, his sincerity, his devotion, his honesty, his forthrightness, his industry.
