  • @reflexRx with a higher count you're more likely to get a blackjack. so raising you're bet is a good idea. you need to win back the money you didn't get when the count was low. of cource it's better to use a the spotter and big better method like in the movie 21

  • I'm sorry bud, u don't 'raise' your bet according to the count... u just know when its 'safe' and 'not safe' to hit and not hit... say dealer has a 10, u have 13, count is +6, u don't take a hit. simple. otherwise ur just gonna lose... and i realize what i said goes against every book about basic blackjack stradegy, but when you're counting thats how its done.

  • 3 divided by negative 3 is negative 1 but I can see how he got zero. Try to punch it in on a plain calculator, It will say zero only because you change the function from divide to subtraction by trying to enter negative 1. maybe

  • A 'counting' misconception is that it will tell you if the next hand will win or not, which it won't. Counting only increases your odds by .5 to 1%. The house naturally has a .2 to .6% advantage and counting can put them in a negative advantage even if just by a fraction. Winning big money takes big bets and lots of time, years even. We're talking a half percent or less return.

  • Look, the main goal of BJ is to bust the dealer. Translated: Bet higher when there are less high cards in the deck because the dealer is more likely to need more cards on his turn, the more cards he'll need, the more likely he'll go over. So, counting is simply knowing how the deck is stacking in relation to high/low cards. Any way you can keep track of that is 'counting'. And yes, that includes the dealer's cards, who is actually a player any ways.

  • It's not that the low cards are better for you -- it's that it's better for the low card to come out of the deck, no matter who gets them. That's really what they should be saying. In other words, lots of low cards being dealt means a lot of high cards are left undealt and a better chance for your doubles and splits. That's GOOD for you! When lots of 10's come out of the deck, then your splits and doubles will likely give you low cards. BAD! Hope that helps.
