  • And so thor struck his hammer

  • Looks like the guy is reading the music sheet! That was a F# :D

  • I am... THE MIGHTY THOR!!!

  • why isn't a metal hammer used? it would have a more ringing louder tone. the wood one is too 'thud'

  • @windstorm1000 Mahler said that he wanted a sound like an axe blow. It's only called a hammer because it looks like one rather than sounds like one. Personally, I don't think a ringing type sound would be as effective in this symphony.

  • demasiado arrecho, nunca habia visto que era ese instrumento

  • THAT IS SO COOOOLL!!!!!!

  • YES!!!

  • should have put some walnuts under that haha

  • I know, i could be famous in this .... :D

Finally i can be part of orchestra lol!!! :-)

  • Comment removed

  • A Virtuoso!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

  • anyone else thinking of Donkey Kong?

  • lol! Even the guy goes flying after the hit! Hahaha..

  • Me gusta, porque un pedazo de madera vuela por los aires.

  • This hammer was used in the Finale movement of

    Gustav Mahler's sixth ("Tragic") symphony

  • What symphony is this? (and movement?)

  • @fcmilsweeper9 It is the fourth and final movement from the sixth symphony. There are three hammer stroke. In fact Mahler was superstitious and removed the third stroke but it was restored after his death

  • WHOOMP! *piece of wood goes flying*

  • Best job in the world

  • THUMP!!!

  • and i should quit playing upright bass in my orchestra and switch to a hammer! XD

  • he can be a judge XD

  • watch "Mahler-Hammer - Kellers Knigge"

How not to play the Hammer! Hilarious!

  • Uh..is that a clarient case?!

  • thats why he went to school for years and years:))) time wasnt waisted at all!:)))

  • well that was pointless :-S

  • EPIC.

  • any more questions to whether Mahler's Orchestral music is over the top?

  • If ever percussionists feel a bit cranky that they're not playing a melody that people will walk away humming, fear not, you may one day have the privilige of playing the hammer!

  • @odinnshred yes indeed! I can't wait myself! lol

  • i love how after he rams it into the wood he just stand there staring at his music, so calmly, keeping the same stance, haha, incredible

  • one of my goals in life is to do this, and be as BAMF as this guy when it happens =) you rock!!! (also for video-ing this DURING a performance!)

  • 5/5 for the best hammer strike i've heard so far. the others sound too dull.

  • I totally agree....maybe its just the recording quality of the others, but this is by far the best ive heard...

  • ...so than he'll find Walking papers in his dressing room...

  • what would happen if he missed the wood...or if he came in early on his entrance =)

  • the chunk of wood that goes flying makes it that much better. Hahaha.

  • would be unfortunate if he crack the timpanist head open with the hammer, then we would listen to the second half of the fourth movement timpani-less

  • lol yes!

  • @NailI3unny he did broke something XD
