  • I'm happy he answered the fruit question...

  • also nie mehr schuften bin so reich

  • Stef...Im not sure if you have ever listened to or read any writings of Dr. Doug McGuff ... He wrote a GREAT book called "Body by Science" and has a couple lectures on YouTube as well.

The reason I mention him is because he takes a more evolutionary and scietific approach at "exercise" than the recommendations of Dr Lustig and really the entire community..

12-15 minutes a week of REAL exercise, along with normal daily activity, is recommended by Dr Doug McGuff - his book provides the evidence.

  • @helltrackrider

Also...Drew Baye is another individual who promotes this method.

Dr McGuff's book is loaded with scientific evidence and reasons why his method is the proper method for human exercise.

Similar to your refutation of humans are inherently evil and you respond "Humans inherently adapt"...he approaches the cardiovasular system as needing to "adapt" and the only way to warrant an adaptation is to go above normal or slightly above normal activities (walking and running included)

  • I think the best way to understand Dr. Lustig's message about exercise is to understand that your body will compensate for higher energy output with increased appetite. What he's saying is important though is the stimulation of your metabolism that exercise provides. Stimulating your metabolism is important in maintaining a proper functioning body, your body that exercises will function better then a sedentary body.

  • @Bearographer

You write: "The Dr is wrong" - you state absolutely nothing to contradict him.

Then you write, "low fat...adds sugar" and "Processed food uses a lot of sugar too" which the Dr. exactly SAID. WTF?

"[Blah blah blah] fat transfat [blah blah] heart disease."

What the hell does that have to do with the liver and the metabolic syndrome? Not a damn thing. It's like you're bitching about how heart disease isn't considered in anti-cancer treatment/discussion.

    NOT THE SAME SUBJECT!

  • For an article that discusses how govt dietary guidelines are making Americans sick and fat:

Google "Courtney West's Blog, Animal Protein and Saturated Fat Can Lead to Healthy, FAST Weight Loss."

  • I have had gout for years, and tried just about everything without success.I reduced meat to, minimum once

a week, stopped alcohol altogether.I was having LOTS of fruit and vegetables and my gout was worsening.

Finally I have read something about Excessive fructose increasing uric acid.I experimented reducing my fruit

intake to 2 a day, and bingo within days I saw a dramatic improvement

  • Very good thank you

  • african americans couldn't get off the sugar because "water doesn't taste good?" How many families is he testing here?

  • @dreaminginnoother. I wonder if the study was class-controlled. That'd play a much larger role than so-called "race".

  • Heh, "lustig" means "funny" in Swedish. And not " haha-funny".

  • What exactly does he mean when he says "our genes have not changed"? You don't need a change in your genes for physical change to occur.

  • Also, I felt bad when he said nobody eats two oranges in one sitting. I guess I'm nobody. :'(

  • @meow0meow7 Maybe if Americans had fresh oranges that would change. I have a farm here in Thailand and I had never tasted fresh fruit until I came here. I can eat 3-4 oranges at once.

  • 1. THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.

    2. The interviewer looks much nicer when he smiles. He has a contagious smile.

    3. Fat or fart - very true, but if you don't eat processed food or meat, then you at least won't have to worry about smell. (This is just based on my experience, lol)

    4. I am convinced excercise has at least SOME effect on weight, though admitedly not a lot.

  • @meow0meow7. Exercise plays a significant role if done properly. That means, significant cardio and eating a more refined diet, i.e. whole wheat, vs white bread garbage, oats, fruits, veggies, chicken/ lamb vs pork, and what not.

  • @meow0meow7 indeed, exercise does very well in "jump starting" the process, however... the point I am sure he is trying to make here is that if you exercise without a proper diet, you essentially attempting to run your car down the road with dirty gasoline. it will only do you harm.

  • Thank you for the video. A lot of information. Next time u guys go shopping, take a look hoe everything has no fiber. Even yogurt. Either 1 gram or no fiber at all. Surprisingly, brewer's yeast has a lot of fiber. 6 g per 30 grams of weight. So eat your fiber with sugar but try to avoid sugar. Raw honey is the only one u should eat.

  • Where is the link to the video?

  • @fergus286 i was never an addict :)

  • This guy is some random ass crazy bald guy who has no credibility on his own. and how credible is this doctor? he can't even pronounce fructose correctly? seriously? idk how you guys watch this and take it seriously. you're all insane.

  • @flyingmantaray and you must be a professional critic, nutritionist, scientist, linguist, and psychiatrist all in one. lol. Why don't YOU give us some REASON not to pay attention to the INFO in this interview?

  • Exercise does help with weight loss. You may not burn very many calories WHILE you are exercising, but it increases your resting metabolism so that you burn more calories throughout the day than you would if you were sedentary.

  • The companies are drug pushers and the government is their accomplice.

  • I'm going to give up sugar as soon as I finish this bag of chocolate covered peanuts.

  • Actually high mineral water (with a lot of magnesium - about 200mg per liter) tastes amazingly good, refreshing and a bit sweet :)

  • this guy deserves a medal!

  • what a fantastic FREE DOCTOR CONSULTATION! Very important with the gun coming in the health care industry!

  • Farm bill anybody :)

  • cheese?

  • Question Stef:

The doctor says they put it in because they know, when they put it in people by more...

You're a strict free marketeer and state-abolitionist, how does your society deal with it?

  • education?

  • Thank you Stefan and Dr. Lustig for enlightening me on this matter! I must investigate the relationship between the food I consume and the effects on my body. More people need to see this interview!

  • I'm cutting down on fructose, "chronic liver toxin," fascinating, giving it to children..christ! always thought sugar was like cocaine for kids..but it's really more like alcohol. Pass this vid around peopes. Jake Archer

  • So, I sat down to have a whole wheat bagel with unsweetened peanut butter for breakfast this morning and I couldn't finish the whole thing. There may be something to this fructose/leptin business.

  • Same here. three and a half eggs cooked french style with some butter, cheese, and salt with garnish in the morning, and I'm good till dinner.

  • Man and I thought I was just feeling like an American =D...

  • Mr. Molyneux, I would like to inquire as to what software you use to create presentations along with a video of yourself on the corner simultaneously.

I would also like to know if it it possible to make it work in realtime.

  • I've done a video and how I do my videos, you can have a look for it if you like... :)

  • I seem to be a bit overwhelmed here (you have A LOT of videos). Do you recall the name of this video?

    Thanks

  • v=3KaCfouzemY

  • @FlailingJunk

    Thanks ;)

  • @stefbot I am not sure I agree that exercise doesn't help you lose weight, but I do think diet is mor important.

  • I'd post a witty response, but that would be giving you more time and respect than you deserve. So, I'll settle for "fuck you, you collectivist asshole".

  • I eat movie theater popcorn, I will be dead soon.

  • metabolic syndrome?

we used to call it sloth.

Exercise and you will be able to eat whatever you want, but... you will crave better food.

  • Sorry, I don't speak "religious nutbag."

  • @Dipstikk

Since when is pointing out laziness "religious"?

    You're pathetic.

  • @superesonator Whoa, retract the fangs.

"Sloth" is the term used to describe a number of "sinful" behaviors, one of which is laziness. I have never actually heard anyone refer to it as "sloth" unless they were referring to it in a religious sense.

Unless you are comparing us to the order Pilosa, which I might actually take as a compliment, being that Sloths are very cute.

    :3

Oh, and "pathetic?" That's a pretty loaded insult. Warranted by what, might I ask? As if I didn't know.

  • Mmmm! I've always loved water! Water is wonderful, my favorite beverage by far!

  • I eat 2 oranges easily in one siting :) or 6 mandarine oranges... only one apple though... Im very thin and eat lots of fruit... i munch on fruit..

  • i have known for years that exercise doesn't influence body weight. and this fact is easily provable. but whenever i point this out to people who are trying to lose weight they simply don't believe me and act as if it was a conspiracy theory or something. it is really frustrating.

  • Yeah...Avoid sugar and you live forever...

I'm not sure why this interview perturbs me...But it does.

  • So if sugar does the same amount of damage as ethanol, then drinking a full bottle of coke is about as damaging as drinking a full bottle of vodka?

    Holy shit.

  • @Mastikator yeah id take the vodka

  • I like vodka mixed with Kahlua, amazing stuff.

  • Hah, got 2 thumbs down for stating the obvious and expressing shock.

    Really wonder why.

  • Thanks Stef,

I think it's great that you touch on multiple subjects, I wouldn't normally go out of my way to learn about this kind of stuff. (or indeed other subjects that you have talked about in the past)But, because you made a video I thought "why not?". And what I heard was very interesting. The bit about fruit juice reminded me of a Frankie Boyle quote: "Sunny Delight counts towards your five a day...as -2"

Thanks again for consistently great stuff!

I'm off to eat a fruit now.

  • hehe i will eat that burger and drink that extra large coke. i will when i go out drink myself shitfaced and belch when i get home or at the neighbours front porch to show i had a wild night.

If i get too fat or lose my condition thats something i can remedy. and there are plenty of girls who love a cuddly bag of lard between the cheets. i will lose 20 years of my life suffering Alzheimer and laugh at older people who sit in their shitfilled diapers all day

    FREEDOM!!!

  • @CelticReject You might miss out on the singularity then, according to Ray Kurzweil. Biotech and A.I. tech will supposedly reach the point in perhaps 50 years where all the degenerative problems (old age, disease) can be fixed through technology, so much longer lives will be possible, and our bodies can be restored to a much younger apparent age (organ regeneration, gene therapy etc.). Always eat natural and exercise.

  • great interview Stefan! I need to reduce my sugar intake, but I had no idea it was as bad as alcohol.

  • Lustig is very precise and correct in what he says, but what he is refering to with "sugar" and "fructose" are the REFINED forms of these. I'm glad that he mentioned fruit at the end, personally (as a high-fruitarian and athlete) I now eat over 3kgs of fruit/day (250g+ fructose, ~3500 calories/day). Surprisingly, my weight is lower and even my blood sugar levels are more stable than ever. Sugar from fiber rich, low GI, low GL, whole foods such as fruit just cannot be grouped with refined sugars.

  • making us sick sadly...

  • People always joke about sugar highs, but it is pretty serious buisness. Why dont people joke about an alcohol high?

  • To proithero. There is a good natural sweetener you can get at the health food store called stevia. It comes from the stevia plant. I used to be a sugar addict- now I use this.

  • @iqrl5ya so you are still an addict :)

  • well then, are there any good sweeteners out there for us?

  • sure could use a transcript of this.

  • This is a topic that I think is very important. Thanks for the interview.

  • Stef look up Gary Taubes and try to get an interview. He's amazing.

  • I love his book "Good Calories, Bad Calories" :)

  • Thank you for the video :)

  • Sweet interview!

  • This is a total load

  • @LisaJ4Liberty

    Care to elaborate?

  • Is fructose can cause similar toxic problems to ethanol, what effect does ethanol have on calorie intake and other problems caused by sugar?

  • His picture is watching me.

  • this guy needs to learn to differentiate between talking to one person and speaking at a lecture.

  • Agreed

  • The sugar and alcohol link makes perfect sense.

  • Lustig is one of the few credible nutri-tards out there. Great get.

  • Stef, if you could edit or reproduce this at under the 5 minute mark, you will multiply its effect by 100. The same people who are addicted to this poison are also addicted to the TV and the microwave. We've all been trained to shut-down at 4 min 59 sec.

    He did say dimentia, right?

  • Someone who can't sit through a 30 minute interview is a lost cause.

  • @mastikator, explain your statement

  • Someone who has a short attention span might also lack the intellectual fortitude to take in the message.

Training to pay attention for at least moderately short times is only healthy.

  • very good video

  • Sugar is the key!
