  • Now.Expect the Gringo moving to Ecuador.I just hope they don't destroy my country.

I mean seriouly...They have so many enemies around the world.900 military bases in over 130 countries that do not belong to them. What would they do if China Place a base in USA Soil? Just wondering.Hypocresy my friends.

Usa Economy is so bad. People who retire go to cuenca or Ambato,Quito.ETC. we do not Flouride water,no pesticides in our fiood. No chem sprays in the sky.I love you Ecuador.

  • @Gioxtream thats true i hope they don’t cuz some of them just want to take over some counties.. and our country is beautiful... and too much for them.. i hope they don’t do that cuz either way we have russia in our side ;)

    love you ecuador

  • a very informative video. Thank You for your generousity in sharing

  • Ecuador is not socialist!!!!!

  • Great Video with a better camera and steadier shots it could be proffesional

  • nice video, thanks, I am just starting my research on Cuenca / Ecuador as a possible retirement have

  • Yes completely and totally! Cuenca Ecuador is a great place to live!....

If you are a wealthier than average foreigner and don't mind constant insecurity. I mean really its like the cops don't even give two shits.

  • yea but i bet no jobs around so people most likely just rent them out when vacation time

  • my step mom is from cuenca

  • I am sooooo proud,I am from ecuador!! I love my country :) ♥

  • "maybe we will meet some day in Ecuador" :) I love that sentence! I will be very happy to have you as my neighbor.

  • How much is a days worth of food from a market and how much is gas per gallon (or per whatever else)

    Thanks

  • @gsus7125 Bread is around 25 cents, you do need to buy purified water, but food is fairly cheap if you do not buy imported goods or go to touristy places. Gas is fairly expensive, but a cab can get you across the city of Quito for around $5

  • Ten minutes is not enough to get to know all about Cuenca. I miss the just baked bread every morning, restaurants serving the catch of the day, to go out just grabbing a light jacket never a heavy one. I hope people are still decent and very religious as they used to be.

  • Makes me want to move here!!

  • This is my country. :) I love Ecuator.

  • awe that video is so cute ! im glad you liked my country :] <3

  • Thanks, VERY helpful video, especially since it gave an idea of prices. I couldn't believe how low the rents are for nice apartments!

  • The disrespect for pedestrians carries over to a high rate of hit and runs. In other words, and if you want to compare countries, in many Latin American countries if one is hit, the driver will run. There is not only the imminent danger, but also the associated general stress. Ecuadorians, I have talked with, agree. And, as far as the food, I wasn't being cynical, the food is great. In fact, Ecuador has a one of the better rates of heart disease, and this too should not be overlooked.

  • Comment removed

  • With all due respect, a bit overly optimistic. Concerns: Traffic and total disrespect for pedestrians, high speeds (which demonstrates a high level of impoliteness) pollution especially in the narrow streets of Cuenca, horrible noise levels with incessant honking, clothes are very expensive, non'functioning toilets in buses. Food for thought. Investigate. Oh, and the food is great!

  • @crazyzabo lol the noise is part of the culture dude, if u like to live in a boring neighborhood, is great some people doesnt agree with that, traffic and disrespect for pedestrians?? even in tokyo it happens, and it doesnt make any difference or affect the tourists, mostly of the food is ORGANIC AND CHEAP the one for investigate is the one with chemicals......

  • That's wonderful, but how is the job market? Can the people afford $300 a month?

  • @Nasjen Yes, definitely, if you speak English much better, you couid work in tourism, you know hotels or something.

  • At minute 2:17. Our president is not a socialist president. He is a president who has live and studied in the United States for four years. He does know the benefit of capitalism and how necessary it is for prosperity of his country. Nevertheless, in order to promote a capitalist economy, corruption has to be almost completely vanished. And those intentions have been badly seen by the rich and mostly corrupt politicians. The private companies were used to exploit and to take as much money ap. gv

  • @endlesucces yep u right he wants to beat the corruption,n exploitation, but thats not the way to do it, he has divided the economy instead of increasing it. i mean if you are rich you are still gonna be rich but if you want to succeed now you cant , because of a mediocre president who coundnt compete against colombia and peru, besides he is an employed of hugo chavez n he decides what hugo wants, this is a sort of communism cause an incompetent group of people thats it. Fascism is the greatness

  • @Super177139 If you don't like Cuenca,,,,,just leave....go to Colombia o Peru......better countries by you....bye..

  • @gfbn1998 i didnt say i dont like my city i said i dont like our goverment i love cuenca n i like...but i ll have to move if i want to succed off course

  • what a great video, it was very helpful to watch it and get an idea of the local places, life in Cuenca and places to live at an affordabel cost. I am also considering relocating, and settling down in Ecuador, but I have yet to find the appropriate city for me. Thanks for the video! Hopefully, I will get to meet you both some day! - Gio, NYC

  • ecuador is very poor country already looses war from peru :D

  • Comment removed

  • @salman1517 And apparently a lot of Peruvians go to Ecuador because of the extreme poverty found in the country which is shocking.

  • @salman1517 peru is a horrible country full of indians and people from there are indigenous horrible looking they are robbers there are a lot of peruvians in Ecuador because they know is WAY better than Peru. ;)

  • Very nice Cuenca City of Ecuador, such a wonderful place to go.

Check out my youtube account guys and watch my entire world traveling videos.

    Thank you :-)

  • y do ppl always put pics of native ppl! u noe they only live out of the city!!! normal ppl like in ny, california, italiy.. or wherever in the world .. live in ecuador! y didnt u put pictures of markets..... or normal ppl.... or nice houses in this video, then ppl think cuenca is a shity place to visit because u put the worse pictures of cuenca... ecuador is nice... there are white ppl too... there r cars.. nice houses mansions supermarkets technology.... and more..... u should know that!.

  • @berfranco100 What are you trying to say about the indigenous Ecuadorians?

  • @RidiculouslyLuis it not like we show native americans on american videos.. right????

they show cities and everything nice... but when it comes to latin america.. all they show is indigenous people... mountains.. animals and nature.. like wtf what about the cities? and beaches and the nice stuff we have..?

  • nice video

  • Very informative video. Thank you for such excelent presentation. ...Mario from NJ

  • NIce video, a few months back there was an article on AP describing Cuenca as "The World's Most Affordable Retirement Haven" I lived there until the age of 12. Beautiful city indeed.

  • yay im moving (hopefully) to cuenca in a few years or somewhere in ecuador at least:P

  • i love much the cuenca

  • cuenquita te llevo en mi corazon espero pronto pasear por tus calles llenas memorias de mi ninez i adolecencia thanks for the video jannet

  • I just recently came back, a few weeks ago, from Ecuador. I visited Guayaquil, Cuenca and Quito. Cuenca was the most beautiful city I ever visited. People were very kind and it's just very breathtaking.

  • .

we watched you video loved it glad to hear your sister has moved there and is doing well thus far.

is it possible to get a name of someone there that she may know that we could communicate with as we are thinking on moving there ourselves

  • Janet, I'm Francisco from Cuenca... I can't thank you enough for this video showing the beauties of my city.

I was an exchange student at Allegany NY, and I hope that my host family comes visit Cuenca soon!!!

If you are still here or planning on coming here let me know I'd love to show you another beautiful town close to Cuenca, it's called Giron it has waterfalls!!!

  • why moving to ecuador or any other country when everyone is coming to yours..i dont get it..are you out your minds..or i is because there you are treated like a queen..because you are white american..and here in your own country you are treated as equal..as everyone else..

  • @kleveryanet04 cuz cuenca is in fact a nice place to live .. i'm from there.. as any other place in the world there are things i dont like.. but i DO NOT treat ppl from the us diferent from any other .. and they are not american .. american is a person who lives in America .. the continent .. ....as i know the us is not america...

  • @kleveryanet04 My dear, there are many reasons why a person would want to move to a foreign country and it's not just because of the MONEY. It seems to be that all the people you mess around were just poor and dreaming to emigrate. It also happens the opposite, people who prefer to follow their hearts looking for their dreamed place where they can do what they love, sports, arts, ideal geography, climate, peace, etc. Money is not the only reason why people move.

  • @kleveryanet04 It is called being TAXED to death. Marshall Law coming to the U.S. soon, and total econoomic chaos maybe.

  • Thank you for this video. Cuernca looks amazing! I could be happy in a place like this. I'll turn 54 in September, so I'll keep this for reference.

  • my parents are from ecuador and im 19 and i already went about 3 times to visit where both of my parents are from quito and guayaquil but for me i love guayaquil way more than any other place in ecuador cuz its louder fun and lots of thing to do but if your looking for a quiet place cuenca or quito would be the best place .............well thats just a short opinion of mine :)

  • @EspanaZMan Thanks, EspanaZMan. Information like this is helpful, too.

  • Thank you Janet - I'm seriously looking at Ecuador for retirement but hadn't looked at Cuenca specifically. Now I will research it much more. Thanks

  • Janet,

Many thanks for your video. I'm an American searching for a place to retire: I might stay in the States, but I'm also considering an ex-pat retirement. Your video really helped to paint a picture of Ecuador with respect to future retirees.

  • That's right. Live and let live. That's ecuador

  • I'm from Cuenca and I live in New Jersey and attend NJIT the school of architecture. I'm currently in Rome and this trip has made me realize the beauty of my country, specially my native Cuenca. I'm happy seeing this video and I want to thank you for the appreciation that you have for Ecuador. I cant wait until I go back.

  • Very intersting video. We want to move where there is good weather, no or low crime.

I like homes more fancy than this and really clean. It looks like a beautiful place to visit.

  • thank you for your video..very helpful...it has given me hope in this time of

    crisis we have in europe!

    sincerely,

    denise

  • this is not a good REPresentatiopn of the city; its like a BAD GHETTO IN THE US.

    youtube.com/watch?v=BONUzQBoquA

  • @sacredheartu I´ve been in the ghettos and I tell you what, your house is the bad ghetto in here, cause when I went to Cuenca It was low on crime, drugs and ho´s city compared to your ghetto in the U.S,.Until you don´t step on this city and walk around, you can´t say anything just for watching some video or hearing from someone else.

  • @LeXdebobbit i totally agree with you and the guetto in Cuenca there u only see poor people living poorly not crackheads like in the guetto in the US. I live in New York but im from Cuenca and there is no other place compared to it because each city in the world is unique.

  • This video is NOT a true REP. it does not show the city correctly. please view this video as it a true REP. IT's a DUMPy city sort of like a BAD GHETTO in the US.

  • @sacredheartu Dear, I see you have never been in a real ghetto in New York City. I have learned that poor people are not allways synonimous of bad neighborhood.

  • What a great Video!

  • This is a great video on Cuenca Ecuador, it even tells what

    the rents are.

Rent for a studio in the north east one hour from New York

City in Norwalk CT is $1000. a month average . People on

Social Security must have a roommate and that is still

$500. a month out of $674. a month SSI check. But people

on SSI can't live outside of U.S.A. so their only hope is

    Section 8.

People on Social Security SSDI can live overseas.

Great Video For Disabled and Seniors

  • Great Video

  • Wonderful video, well done! Now I just have to wait 20 years to retire!

  • Wow... what a wonderful video. I am looking for places to live when I retire and as I love the mountains and rivers this seems like paradise to me.

Great job and thanks for all of the information. Your choice of music was perfect.

    Best wishes, Lancer

  • Here goes the neighberhood.......

  • What kind of icky bugs does she have to deal with?

  • @mypalrocco so funny, I was going to ask that to. lol

  • How about health care, taxes and crime?

  • @BlueSkies360 Crime is relatively low compared to the US you can pull crime stats online. But keep in mind most crimes are not reported there and the Big City Quito and Guayaquil are worse.Top of the line health insurance is around $100 per month. Taxes what type? I'm from Calif what I pay for rent $2100 I would live real good anyplace in South America!

  • I always have my father in law negotiate all my deals, saves me a boat load of money.

Ecuador is very small country but the land is very diverse, check out other areas of Ecuador as well! Crucita, Quito, Portoviejo, Bahía de Caráquez, Manta, Salinas, Esmeraldas etc. And many other great places to live in

    South America. GREAT VID ALSO!!!

  • I If anyone is thinking of moving there do YOUR RESEARCH, do not buy property right away rent for a year or so to make sure Ecuador is a good fit for you! My advise to you is rent first and take Spanish classes the ability to speak the language goes a long way. If you do decide to settle in Ecuador and buy a casa of your own, have a trusted friend negotiate the deal, if not, trust me you will get hit with the Gringo tax and make sure you have a good Attorney.

  • @passion4latinas Thanks for this advice. It's important to think about these things.

  • Hi. I am seriously thinking about moving to ecuador. I know that the volcano went off in Quito. How are people coping and how are you doing? I need to learn alot more about moving abroad. How can we talk?

  • Hello,

My name is Tasha and my family and I are wanting to move to Ecuador. Paute is the city thats near Cuenca. Would this person Ecuadorian/american man help us locate a home that we could buy? We are trying to get all of our ducks in a row. Can you help us?

    Thank you for your time!

  • thats is my country and i missed

  • Hey Janet...thanks for the great vid. My wife and I are moving into the serious planning stages of a retirement move to Ecuador. Your vid has put Cuenca on our "must see" list. Thanks for including your email addresses. You'll be hearing from us.

  • Every time I want to recharge my batteries, especially when winter hits North America, I go to Cuenca Ecuador

  • Thank you for a very nice video.

I have visited Ecuador and I have fallen in love with the country, the climate, the culture, the food and the people.

And yes, they do have the live and let live mentality that is refreshing.

I wish nothing but the best to Ecuador the country and it's citizens.

whould someone please tell me what the name of this song is? thank you, very nice video btw

  • Come to cuenca, everybody is welcome. Ecuador doesn't believe in immigration.

  • very informative and enlightening. thankyou.

    saludos klaudita11

  • maybe you need to learn more my friend before calling me dumb or wannabe , i don't disrespected people like you do>>.so you go and educated yourself before putting and irreal video , i live in a real world , if you don't see it... sorry for you>..

  • Hello There. I am from cuenca went to school there, went to one of the best high school in the world "Daniel Cordova Toral". I have a excellent job. I am an engineer, thanks to my schooling in Cuenca. I will go back there one day. Lived in NYC "Brooklyn/Queens, been robed there, been robed in cuenca. I still love cuenca. What is your point lulita22.

  • You should realize that you are not the only one who has someone specialized in a field. I have a doctorate degree and I can tell you that the education is not free here. Although I came to the US when I was only 13, I have not lost my sense of patriotism and respect for my beautiful country of Ecuador.

  • i know that I love to live in Ecuador if where like.. decades ago not now..My son is in a great school where in my coutry the chances are low...everything in good education is paid my son went to Tennico Salesiano in Cuenca and I paid for his educacion not like here where if you smart you can go to specialized free education.. don''t you know that..

  • omg NY is more dangerous than cuenca, a lot gangs, crime, rats, dirty areas, by the way the crime rate in ny is bigger than the one in cuenca, and also the lifestyle is better than ny, are u living in the bronx?, if u dont respect u own home town, your own language, and culture , u are a wannabe or not? si o no? and also mi tarea esta terminada, espero que todavia te acuerdes de el espanol

  • Dumb will be for my go back to my contry where a parent spank his son in the middle of the street... you dont see that ..you dont see street dogs ??? you don'see cruelity there???I live in new york and I know crime rate here. have you compare the crime there in USA and in Ecuador go and do your homework who's is dumb ??? me or you????I see things that you don't see'. i know there's is wonderful people there, i know my country is beautiful!!!

  • where man disrispect woman in the street where they touch and talk to ladies dirty words...in the market for named a place...you don't go to the market well regular people go no wannabes....

  • rigns a bell for you??..this friday he will take a test on one of the most elite public free!!! school in the country like Hunter": also rings a bell for you???"..only this is why I am here not much compare to Cuencita>>>>where people are racist, you don't thinkn I know well my people I lived half of my life there where there not respect for children literally parents send kids to work for them Is that right for you???

  • WANNABE!!! I'm very humble lady that I don't like to live in Ecuador and I decided to live here in USA because I am living my american dream, I got my career here my son goes to a public and selected school here in nyc, he will go to specialized high school "Bronx Science"

  • good jugment, yes I have, I born in Cuenca, I used to be tocuh in the middle of the street when I was a teeneager, people don't respect if you are alone and in the middle of the day in the middle of the city where is suppose to be "safe" I been robbed in the bus..:( Cuenca is not sefe maybe you all the time go with people and never go in the bus or in and cab or maybe you never walk in the city you are enjoying Ecuador in a different way!!no the real way!!

  • lulita22 in every city in the world u can find crime, gangs, etc, u comment doesnt make any sense, and what do you mean with "the real way"?? so if i go to ny, chicago , boston etc, and if i get robbed is that their real way??? idont think so, cuenca is a beautiful city, the food is great, the people is educated and also is the most safe city in ecuador, if u got any fear or regional complexity, just keep it on yourself, and lat others enjoy CUENCA. dont be DUMB

  • well one aspect you just forget is about safety ...is not more safe in Ecuador there a lot of robbery like you can't imagen, maybe people don't tell you, I know ,my country and is it beautiful but at some point if you are interesting in living there think about safety maybe if you go the country not thecity will be more nice and is it very expensive also to live there, maybe not for you but the peple that are from there..

  • lulita22 where are u from or the correct question is where are u living know? cuenca is the safer city in Ecuador please make comments with good judgment...

  • lulita22 .

if u get touched in the middle of the street, in which area of cuenca u where living??? are u kind of nerd or what?, there is peolple who cannot live easily because of their economy situation, but in the oher hand cuenca is the city in where most of their habitants can live nicely and cool compared with another ecuadorian cities, so dont generalize, i been in many cities around the world and i still love cuenca, i dont have any "wannabe" complex.

    bye

  • Thank you so much for making this video and posting it! I lived in Cuenca between 2006 and 2007 through foreign exchange. It was the greatest year of my life and I really miss Cuenca a lot.

  • i live in florida, but i am from Cuenca...i wanna move back so bad!!! i'm happy i get to go there once a year...hope your sister is loving my city...

  • Actually, the citinship in Cuenca is growing really fast. People that went to work in USA and Spain is comming back. In addition, much interest of foreigners in living with good quality at low cost. Control must be faced in that sense. Cuenca shoul not grow and become a city as Quito.

  • I'm so happy with the response to my video. Yes my sister Cameron did move to Cuenca and she is doing very well so far. Thank you for all your positive comments. - Janet Luongo, the producer

  • @JanetLuongo3

I have listened and watched your incredible video many times. Thank you. I am considering a visit this summer and would appreciate an opportunity to speak with you and or your sister Cameron and gain some insights. If you could perhaps give me a mailing address or email address.
