  • Catch Villeneuve's short film Next Floor in New York, Oct 20 & 22 2011:

    madmuseum[dot]org/series/daggers

  • amazing movie. shitty trailer.

  • Excelente película.

  • Good movie but so sad. The ending was shocking.

  • I saw it twice in a row...I'm still in shock. It's been a while since I didn't enjoyed soo much watching a movie...Amazing and a lot to think about.

  • ALL IT TAKES IS SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS GONE WRONG:

I am unable to post the link..... But On OCT 8, 2011 the New York Times posted this story:

"Daughter of ‘Dirty War,’ Raised by Man Who Killed Her Parents"

Please read it, if u liked this movie!!

  • amazing film

  • Beautiful, well-written, touching movie ...

The wars we wage in the name of religion... the biggest hypocrisy of our time...

  • @marllondejesus Its on Wiki. Not to keen on your question - please remove your comment

  • @myrtlebox I understand why so much rudeness. I honestly do not see why being treated so forcefully. I asked a question like any other! Another thing: Why do I have to remove my comment if it does not violate the law to use it here?

  • @marllondejesus Okay, the comment is already deleted.;)

  • @myrtlebox I understand why so much rudeness. I honestly do not see why being treated so forcefully. I asked a question like any other! Another thing: Why do I have to remove my comment if it does not violate the law to use it here?

  • @myrtlebox No Problem

  • @marllondejesus Sorry, no disrespect intended.

    Father: Abdelghafour Elaaziz

Brother: Not listed (no spoken dialogue)

  • @marllondejesus I agree with the other user who told you to remove your comment.

what if everybody was delivering the main plot on such an independant and great movie ?

i hope you understand what we are trying to tell you. you don't have to tell something just because you are allowed to.

  • @aladdintrips Folks, I'm sorry! I guarantee that this was not my intention: To reveal the ending. What happened was that I had to give a reference and the first that came to me was this. Sorry. Sorry it. Note: Even though I had given a fork of this magnitude, nothing justifies the behavior of the user rough here.

  • @marllondejesus okay, we accept the appology, but now why don't you remove it ? you have an opportunity to make something valuable here, just take it...really::

  • 0:10

Jeanne: Mama - Are you OK?

    Nawal: - Deafening Silence -

Perfectly placed scene. The nonlinear narrative was masterfully done.

  • By the way, do not watch this movie from a computer screen. It demands to be seen on a big screen with a decent sound system. Pay them the money that they deserve to make. This movie is worth every dollar.

  • @napoleondancer I disagree. There is only one true spoiler possible in this movie - and they didn't touch it. I think they did a fine job for this trailer.

If you haven't seen this movie, you MUST SEE IT. It made my all-time top-20 list...and that is extremely hard to do after 40 years of movies & rentals.

  • It is also very obvious that it is Lebanon, because of the locations and villages mentioned in the play (Nabatiyé, Kfar Rayat...), and also the time setting (the 1970s war in Lebanon), and the characters' names are also typically lebanese.

  • As for the story itself, it is very moving, and I strongly recommend anyone to read it if they can. I read a few pages in the comments, and some people are wondering which country Nawal is from. She is indeed from Lebanon (which also happens to be the birthplace of Wajdi Mouawad, and my parents' too :)).

  • The film is based on a play written by Wajdi Mouawad. It is in French - some of the characters are actually from Montreal, Quebec and some scenes are based there. The Quebecer accents and expressions are quite different than the "traditional" French ones, but it doesn't really matter as long as you get it translated more or less appropriately. I've read the play twice already. I even met Wajdi and he signed my copy :D

  • omg this movie was such an epic story! AMAZING and I totally cried in the theater!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=e7JoBZAobjA

  • wow the trailer has to show us the mom is an assassin? fucking idiots who made the trailer ruined it

  • @Thrasher44 you fucking idiot, why you write the spoiler here! You could have warned people not to watch the trailer instead of also been part of the fucking idiots in this world and spell it out

  • @LietMonty LOL , I read his comment because of your reply .. does that make you a part of it ? :D

  • @LietMonty

    fuck you dickhead!!

  • @Thrasher44 Please rich elites euthanize this worthless piece of crap animal. Go fck your ugly mother who should have aborted you! What were you an extra in this shit? TQ!

  • Wow it only took 80 years to give North America a compelling high quality midlle eastern movie!

  • @napoleondancer wow, it sure as heck is. darn!

  • Excellent film

  • I wish there was a novel about this movie. I just figured there is such a movie, and I am really willing to watch it. Where can I watch it online? because it is not in movie theaters.

  • oh for fuck's sale, it's in french.

  • @Jonty290 so???

  • one of the most depressing films i've ever watched

  • I saw the actual theater piece. By looking at this trailer, I'm afraid they changed completely the sense of the story. Please tell me this trailer is misleading, because I don't think I will stand the story with the characters attitude (like if they were in some kind of action flick) presented in the trailer.

  • This film changed my life

  • painful movie to watch, but excellent

  • I prefer watching movies not reading them.

  • @Tibiaann Thanks a lot man. Real great.

  • @Tibiaann no offense, but go fuck yourself.

  • 10/10

    best movie ever !

    shocking, electrifying !

the only thing bad about this movie is that it is not fully in "english" which makes kinda language problem !

  • Just watched it....except for the twist ending, it was nothing more than a decent film

  • I hate fuckig reading subtitles!... fuck this

  • @mycrickethighlights2 don't be a bitch cuz ur lucky allmost every movie is in your language.. I have to watch every movie with subs -_-'

  • @mycrickethighlights2 so go watch transformers or other childish movie you dumbass

  • Wow I just watched it today. It's so powerful and the acting is incredible! The real truth was kinda sad and if I were the twins I wouldn't want to know! But I would highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to be moved.

  • Why the hell do I hear a Palestinian accent instead of a Lebanese one? That's a major turn off really... :/

  • @DeathMach1ne Some of the actors were taught the Golan heights dialect of Arabic (because they were Iraqi extras and had to sound more regional).

  • @heero171 I still don't get why, the Golan heights were part of Syria (and their accent doesn't sound like that for sure). Iraqis? I mean there isn't a lack of Lebanese in Canada...

  • This was on a small independent cinema near me for a few days, a friend saw it and was amazed by it. In the cinema they took it out because they said it was just to hard to watch or something. i guess i'll have to download it, hope i find it!

  • This was such a damn good movie. The only problem I have with this trailer is I think it gives away a littttttle bit too much.

  • **goosebumps** very strong "incendies" indeed

  • I like this film even more 'cause they used Radiohead songs as its soundtrack. :)

  • Let's not get political :) Just sit back and embrace the emotions this movie brings! It's beautifully done!

  • im about 45 minutes thru and im kind of scared to watch the rest

  • Just watched this movie several hours ago and it makes me think of what's real love. Very touching well written movie. Can't compare with Hollywood blockbuster. This movie shows potential of Canadian film!!!!!!!

  • @ScorpionTunisia they will never ever make a movie where they make arabs look friendly....it will just never happen. and i agree that they didnt even get lebanese actors..i mean if its a quebec movie, they c ould of found PLENTY of lebanese to play the roles to make it more authentic

  • An amazing story. I assume there is a novel out there somewhere, although whether it has been translated into English, I don;t know. Explosive storyline (pun intended). Really moving. Compelling. If you've got this far, and watched the trailer, see the film!!!

  • @biddendensue It is based on a play by Wajdi Mouawad.

  • amazing and touching story! must seeee !!!!!

  • its amazing how some people spend much more than it took to make this one for a movie, but the story isnt as good.

  • @ScorpionTunisia I do know what you're referring to. I am curious to know what you think is the reason.

  • @ScorpionTunisia Everyone has their own theory about the causes and such. I believe it's religion and people to be blamed.

  • The part when the militants shot the little girl made me cry like a baby. I'm from Iraq, and my country was going through the same disaster as Lebanon. It's painful to see people get killed over religion. A human being is NOT defined by religion, a human being is much greater than a religious label.

  • Wow the trailer gives away the whole film

  • @napoleondancer ..Thank YOU!!!! I've been saying that for the past month & thought it was just me : ( Angelina Jolies movie-trailers have that bad too! Im glad i read your post before watching this trailer ..Im not going to watch it now b/c I want to see the film ;) Thnxx!! lol

  • this trailer has so much spoilers - what the fuck is wrong today every fucking trailer spoils like hell

  • Trailer gave everything away!

  • i just finished the movie - oh shitt oh shittt oh shiittt - am traumatized right now - my God !!!! - speechless - best movie - this movie is deep - deeper than any movies out there - deeper than american shit - this is fucking deeep -

  • @love4niggers My sentiments exactly!

  • Comment removed

  • one plus one... still makes one

  • I screened this last night and I have never been more vocal about a movie then this and not once did I leave to go the bathroom. It is intense, but well worth the time - even at one in the morning.

  • There's a lot of very hateful comments, on here, not even directed toward the film. A lot of you need to grow up and enjoy life.

  • haters can hate

  • @88shizo

the entire country in the movie is fictional. If you are superimposing a real country on top of the fictional country and cities in the film, you must have a very low esteem for that country in the first place.

  • @marcwagz or maybe the real country itself would further complicate the storyline and the film's image because of the reality of complex politics

  • What music is used in this trailer?

  • The mother could have just told the kids and saved them all of that work. It is what it is. Could have saved a lot of travel expenses.

  • @upinflamezzz, the point of the will is her way to ask for their forgiveness, and discovering themselves about their past.

  • @88shizo

Like a dream within a dream within a fantasy of a projection, the film asks us to ask questions. The film asks us to examine what is real and what is not. Who is the asker? Who is the dreamer? Who is the projectionist?

Do not answer. Do not ask. Do not examine. The obvious is in fact ambiguous and the ambiguous obvious. Or is it? Perhaps one did not even see the film. What is a "film?" Where am I?

  • Now come tell me we have nothing good coming out of Quebec! Nous devons etre fiere de nos talents Québecois, encourageons nos artists, ils le méritent!

  • I saw this film here in Los Angeles yesterday. It was mesmerizing! It had such a thick plot with so many twists and turns that I actually want to see it again, which is something I never do. When it was over my mind was thoroughly blown.

  • proud to be canadian

    proud to be quebecois

  • @famemonster1993. the last thing does is exagerate the tragedy of the Middle east. If anything, it puts human emotions and faces behid the story of the Civil Wars there.

  • amk yok böyle bir şey bundan önce film izlemememişim

şu film biraz önce bitt ve düşüncelerime bir çizik attı

  • why didn't it win?

  • @famemonster1993

    no ...fuck you :)

    lol

dude you are so full of hate

  • I can't wait to see this soon...I saw the play Scorched (on which it is based) and it was utterly brilliant...hoping the movie is as good. And no, I won't be watching it free anywhere...on any site...I will fork out cold hard cash and go to the cinema!

  • @carleeeee, it is worth every dollar indeed. Lubna Azabal deserves an Oscar nimonation for this film, it is so powerful & moving. I cried during the film myself, specially at the end. It is such a tragic story, yet so beautifully dep[icted & acted. It vcarrie such a powerful tragic message that it deserves to be seen now more than ever. Support this excellent film by watching it in the theaters if they are showing it near where you live.

  • @vroizen The events in the bus scene are a reference to the Ain el Rammeneh massacre. As others have pointed out, this film was not (and could have not) been made in Lebanon at the present time. This is probably intentional by the filmmakers, meant to transcend the local context to tell a more universal story.

  • I've never known my daughter and now they are doing a movie on lost families? Yes war is cruel on families yet no one seems concerned I have not known anything of my daughters life since 1987. She was allowed to disappear and I had no legal grounds! Guess it never will matter!

  • This movie will not only change your view on humanity, but your view of yourself. its haunting, moving, and horrifying and you cant leave the theater the same way you walked in
