Actually what he stated here about Broadcasters sounding english is true. Back then radio and tv broadcasters were encouraged more to sound more like the queens accent because it gained more respect than using the Nz accent. This went on right up to the 1980s. It was a time where we would try and hang on to our British ancestry. Nowadays the queens english has pretty much died out due to the acceptance of the kiwi accent in the mainstream media.
