My pc runs this browser game-thing on a rarely Low FPS, is there any way i can play this game without having a frame every 5 seconds?

Do i need a major good computer to play this decently?

no quake 3 is like 10++ years old. and you can play in a 540 * something res and use r_picmip 14.

Yeah fps are crucial to playing this game. You could try Quake III Arena. There's a 4-map free demo download from id-software. Aside from that you want to look at the system settings and reduce display resolution if you can and set simple items and any other graphic-related simplification. Also there's a low audio quality setting.

@vinceXblade no you don't need a very good computer at all. Search on google for a list of console commands to improve perormance. It really helps a lot if your comp isn't cutting it. You can REALLY bring down the graphics to a nearly cell-shaded look.

That is because they use fovs around 110, that way it seems that you go around the map much faster

@lagz89 humm...the movie fov is 110... thats what makes it look faster...but zero4 uses fov 90... so does cypher :p

i go to load my custom hud in console and type

and when i do it say could not find ''ui/sean.cfg''

anyone know what's the problem? sean is the name of my own hud by the way

if you use a custom config you need to create a ui directory in ur QL folder, and put ur cfg there.

If it still cant find it then u didnt put it in the right place, or its not named right.

actually they are not using (HUGE) fov, the ones who are casting are using 110 give or take

it looks horrible(130fov) bcuz this video is WIDESCREEN but for some reason the one who posted this video here didnt set it as it should, if he post it as wide screen u can watch this thing way better

As far as I know most people use FOV 90, but I know for a fact that some competitive (ie "pro") players use 115 or higher (Vo0 is one example). I use 120 myself, on widescreen. Once you get used to it, there's no going back. You trade in some accuracy in the beginning, but eventually you regain that. Mouse control just feels so much less jittery with higher FOV's. The whole game also seems faster because there's more information passing by.

yes, most of them use fov 90.

it ranges bewteen 90-110. Some use even lower and some even higher. Most common is 100+.

depends what you like, you get better overview with high fov-- but if you got a map with less open halls.. u want a lower fov.. only if you cant play, or donthave time to change fov u should play static..

yeah cpma movement is nice, i like q4 too cause the movement is so good.

if quake live only let you run your own FUCKING servers and use mods, it would be worth it.

sadly its just a really limited version of q3

Do you know how to move in Quake World? Its very easy because you don't even need to press forward once you get going.

Maybe it feels more difficult because your trying to move in Quake World with a Q3/QL style.
