OMG THE MOST BEAUTIFULL VIDEO AND... AT THE SAME TIME... SO SAD .. I EVER SAW ABOUT THE TUDORS, POOR ANNE AND THE OTHERS >.< Her revenge was givin a Girl Better then Jane's son, ELIZABETH I. Well Done Well Done
I flatly refuse to watch that historical fantasy. Henry was grossly miscast, as he was too complicated to be captured by many actors.
his anger was more menacing, he was more intellligent, than this actor could portray.
I am not denying the Kings mass murders, some 80,000 all told, but this series was so grossly inaccurate (eg Mary Tudor, his sister, marrying the king of france) that i will not watch any other seasons
The series "the Tudors" is not history. It's sex and ostentatious drama designed to entertain people, not to educate them. I watched it once and though I'm not in the least uptight about these things, I found the sex scene in it to be needlessly graphic.
Also, you're correct about his bodily ailments. I recently saw that fantastic documentary about his body and I was actually shocked at the level of his suffering.
Fantastic video :-).. Connect video with this music...amazing idea, great! and I have small request.. can you send me this version of this song to mail? I have found it, but not this version.. thanks a lot ( untitledJ363@seznam.cz )
henry was a child, who got whatever he wanted , when he couldn't win he blame everyone around him. he made a beatutiful game, but when you're in you were lost.
Henry did not kill people for fun. Before he was injured in the jousting accident he was supposed to have been very fond of company and had plenty of friends. He was even known to have joined his servants for card games from time to time.
Henry had plenty of faults, probably more than he had boons but to label him a despot and tyrant simply isn't fair. He was a complicated man from a very different time and thus, he can not really be judged by the standards of today.
no, but he called himself a christian and i will discern him by christian standards. he was gifted, deep, subtle and complex, but became corrupted by indulgence and power, and maddened by pain. osteomyelitis, a bone disease causing that horrible ulcer he had, gotten from that fall from a horse
That's true. I saw that documentary recently "inside the body of Henry VIII" and I felt genuinely sorry for him. The state of his body when he died was appalling. Suffering as he did, it is understandable that he was very crotchety in his later years.
King Henry was one sneaky dude. He pretended affection and all the while was plotting against a person. That is beyond cold thinking. Then when the ish went down,he shifted the blame to preserve his popularity. Much likeQueen Elizabeth would do with the execution of Queen Mary years later.
Anne did not shag her brother or those other guys. I am a big history geek and based on the docements I have found and the statments of schoolers that bealive that those charges were false. All denined them I am pretty sure but if one did confess it was probaly false becuase they were tortured to get the infomation out of them. Anne had strong political views and the people did not like that one bit. Only an informed strong minded woman must be no other than a which (sarcasm)
The reason Anne was executed was because Henry was a spoilt and easily led king. The country was ran by whoever had his ear at the time. First by Wolsey and then by Thomas Cromwell. Cromwell wanted Anne out of the way because she disagreed with the appropriation of the money from the dissolution of the monasterys. Plus she was a brother shagging whore (alledgedly) lol
This series has done a great injustice to historical accuracy.
I mostly agree with lollipopfop except for Catherine of Aragon--I believe she did indeed love Henry; remember her last words to him as she was dying: "....mine eyes desire you above all things." Her popularity outside London was great. Henry himself feared that if she wished, she could raise an army in England and have a good chance against him.
lolli is correct about Anne-she was popular in London and in learned circles.
Re: Anne: the older view was that her family came from middle class. In truth, they had quite a bit of aristocratic blood. No one springing from common origins would have been sent to the French Court.
Henry was questioning his marriage even before Anne. She was not the reason for his break from Rome.
Most of the negative stories about Anne come from Chapuys, the Emperor's ambassador who hated Anne and supported Katherine. His writings are almost wholly inaccurate and false. (propaganda)
@Cissy2cute It´s extreme to say that Chapuys writings are false. You can say that they were biased especially regarding Anne but those who study the period know how important they are. It is due to him that we know for example, Jane Seymour actions regarding Lady Mary and Elizabeth or the first meeting between Henry and Anne of Cleves as well as most part of Tudors Court and politics. They are not to be dismissed as you did but read with critical eye as serious historians do
@Cissy2cute True, but in most cases the only written records of what was going on during that time is from his letters. Yes they are biased, but one can discern the truth in their somewhere. And Chapuys is hilarious!
I feel like Anne is portrayed as too much of a victim. In saying this I by no means mean she was not a victim at all...however, she wasn't the "he-only-killed-me-because-I-didn't-give-him-a-son" martyr she's portrayed as. Fact of the matter was it was about 30% not giving Henry VIII a son and about 70% being a grade A, first class BITCH who played Henry like a finely tuned fiddle.
You can be in love with someone and still be manipulative. Anne Boleyn was of a very low birth...in fact at one time she was not deemed worthy to marry a baron - one of the lower ranking members of the peerage. Henry gave her everything, yet with her "all or nothing personality" everything wasn't enough. S
She was certainly not of low birth. Maybe not as high as catherine. Actually if you read Catherine was not well liked(she wasn't thin or brunette either). Anne was better liked at court and better educated. The reason Percy's family did not want him to marry Anne was Henry's interest in her.
Honastly what are you going to do when the King of England decides to fall for you? And she probs did love him.)
How? By refusing to have sex with a married man? Henry did not free England from Rome just for her. He would not have stayed in a loveless marriage to Catherine. I don't understand why people feel bad for Catherine that well. She wasn't killed. Just what? Not given enough servants? Boo hoo. She did not love Henry. She loved being queen. She never objected to his mistresses. The reason Henry killed Anne is because she would not allow him to cheat on her like Catherine did, as she loved him.
You talk as if the reason Henry dismissed KOA and married Anne was out of love. For the love of God, if he wanted love he d´go for a mistress. Henry married Anne because he was convinced she could give him a son. Why is that Henry always said that Jane Seymour was his true love? Because she was the one that gave him a male child.
No,she had her child taken from her and her reputation sullied. I don't understand Anne Fans who seem to think Queen K should have just put up and shut up. She was fighting for her self-respect and the rights of Princess Mary. If your husband was dumping you, basically saying you were a whore and unfit to be his wife,AND denying your child, would you have just laid down?
Queens were supposed to be quiet and look the other way. That's how it was back then.
:D I'm an avid Anne-Fan, but I really do like your point! I really do feel bad for Katherine, and she was in the right for fighting for herself and her daughter.
John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester. He also would not sign the oath regarding making the king the head of the church instead of the pope, along with Thomas More.

no shes didnt have to witness it .. shes wanted to see it because she loved her brother so much .. she had to climb on a chair to see the execution and she weeped and weeped .. i felt so sorry for Anne when i heard her crying:(
This video is very chilling! But wonderfully edited! I cried for Anne, Fisher and Thomas! Actually all of them...none of them deserved it! :'( May they all rest in peace! xXx
Lol, I wouldn't say the rest of those people besides his wives and More and perhaps Cromwell were "nearest and dearest" to him, but lol at "favorite pastime"--kind of true!
And yeah, I do look forward to when Cromwell gets the chop! :p I bet next season will end with that, juxtaposed with Henry's wedding to Catherine Howard--since they do love their juxtaposing shots in dramatic scenes on this show! ;)
Yes, four years after her execution. And he died after third stroke of the executioners axe (and I am really sorry for it, everybody should die quick and painless death). The executioner was about 16 years old.
King Henry could have just had Cromwell hanged, drawn and quartered. He commuted the sentence, but he was so pissed off with Cromwell that he deliberately asked for a novice executioner to be used, who would make a mess of the job. Cromwell didn't know until he was face to face with the executioner at Tyburn. You've got to hand it to Henry. Later in life, he really got vindictiveness down to a fine art.
Yes, he became more and more vindictive. He destroyed his own conscience on July, 6th, 1535 and since then for him didnt make any difference whom he killed and how.
Henry once wanted to be famous through the wars. He is famous, but through the murders of his best friend (Thomas More), his first wife (if not personally or through execution, Katharine of Aragon), his second and fifth wife (Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard), his minister allways willing to do dirty job for him (Thomas Cromwell) etcetera.
Great work on this video! Everyone loves to demonize someone in this story--Anne Boleyn, Wolsey, Catherine of Aragon, Cromwell (well, I like him), but for all their faults, it was Henry behind it all!
i loved it, awesome video to an awesome song, it kills me every time i see those clips of george, the other men, and anne on the scaffold, they were all innocent!
Portrays Henry really well...

One of the best videos I've ever seen of this amazing show :)
You did a fantastic job! All the images are awesome!
But at the same time, the video is sad, scary, and specially shocking...

And good job btw, the music does sure match! Isn't this "lux aterna?"
sherrilina 3 years ago
Lol, I wouldn't say the rest of those people besides his wives and More and perhaps Cromwell were "nearest and dearest" to him, but lol at "favorite pastime"--kind of true!
And yeah, I do look forward to when Cromwell gets the chop! :p I bet next season will end with that, juxtaposed with Henry's wedding to Catherine Howard--since they do love their juxtaposing shots in dramatic scenes on this show! ;)

Yes Henry VIII did KiLL Thomas Cromwell 1540, so dont worry Thomas Cromwell gits his in the end just a year or so after Ann=)
Gavb77ed 3 years ago 3
Yes, four years after her execution. And he died after third stroke of the executioners axe (and I am really sorry for it, everybody should die quick and painless death). The executioner was about 16 years old.

King Henry could have just had Cromwell hanged, drawn and quartered. He commuted the sentence, but he was so pissed off with Cromwell that he deliberately asked for a novice executioner to be used, who would make a mess of the job. Cromwell didn't know until he was face to face with the executioner at Tyburn. You've got to hand it to Henry. Later in life, he really got vindictiveness down to a fine art.
kingvampyre 3 years ago 3
Yes, he became more and more vindictive. He destroyed his own conscience on July, 6th, 1535 and since then for him didnt make any difference whom he killed and how.

Henry once wanted to be famous through the wars. He is famous, but through the murders of his best friend (Thomas More), his first wife (if not personally or through execution, Katharine of Aragon), his second and fifth wife (Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard), his minister allways willing to do dirty job for him (Thomas Cromwell) etcetera.

HENRY VIII is indeed in HELL, long live the Murderer.

Great work on this video! Everyone loves to demonize someone in this story--Anne Boleyn, Wolsey, Catherine of Aragon, Cromwell (well, I like him), but for all their faults, it was Henry behind it all!

I can't wait to order this season when it comes out on DVD! This video is great.

I cried so much for Thomas
and then Anne
Henry is crazy psycopath scum, you are so right brutal truth!!!
He killed Thomas and in killing him he killed like a father figure and HIS ONLY TRUE AND LOYAL FRIEND!!!
Killing anne he killed his Passion and heart!!!
Now he has nothing!!! but emptyness and his selfish arrogance pride, him!!

I exactly think the same as you. Mainly, what you wrote about Thomas.
