UIM is de nieuwe BBE, en is onderdeel van de mariniers, zoals de naam al zegt Unit Interventie Mariniers zitten hier alleen de speciale mariniers bij, het is dan ook onderdeel van de NL Special Forces ;)

@MrScaryplayer En waarom CDO's ook leren duiken is omdat ze een full-spectrum SF eenheid zijn. Dat houdt dus in dat ze in staat moeten zijn om alle mogelijke Speciale Operaties uit te kunnen voeren en daarvoor getraind moeten zijn. In dat categorie valt natuurlijk ook optreden waterrijk gebied (OWG).

@MrScaryplayer De Mariniers hebben ook bepaalde SF groepen zoals de BBE/UIM en Kikkers (kikvors) maar officieel is de KCT ons enige echte volledige SF eenheid. Vergeleken met de KCT krijgen de Mariniers veel meer aandacht en ze worden denk ik ook vaker ingezet maar dat komt denk ik doordat de CDO's pas worden ingezet als het echt moet en niet anders kan. Het zijn allemaal hele goede eenheden en kunnen hun taak ook goed uitvoeren. Het verschil zit hem echt toch in de type missie dat nodig is.

Recently I watched the doco 'Armadillo' which certainly demonstrates the Dutch contribution and their courage.

All ISAF contributors and indeed the World seeks a resolution in Afghan asap

I also don't like it (Believe me, I hate the fact that they have to do keep their identities secret) but please try to understand, these men do things that require them to stay unidentifiable. If the identity of let's say an active counter-terrorist/SWAT member is compromised, the "bad guys" (The independent ones & the government shills who dont know they are directly funded by the CIA for example) could use that info to for kidnap family-members or for assassination or worse...
