  • At the time why did u record all these buses? Excellent vid by the way

  • what a dump

  • 3:12 ad on the bus for dublin-gatwick £99, the same flight today costs 30 euros. My granny used to take me to Oconnel st when I was 5 years old where I would photograph the orange buses.

  • £99 in 1985 was alot of money then.

  • I could sit and watch this all day every day. The advertising for Dublin Zoo was very ambitious on the last bus. Nice to look back. Thanks for this portal in time.

  • Give me the 16A to Santry for the Ballymun Road Please.

  • KD1 was actually delivered to CIE in allover tan. Was repainted green before entering service. Same was true of KC1, which was scrapped in 1997.

  • i wish these buses were still on the road

  • How come the KD's nor KCs' had a scroll on the rear side of the bus.

  • looked at the last bus video aswell, man its the wierdest ever, feel like ive been sucked into a little time machine looking at all that haha

  • Why did the D and DF leyland atlanteans remain in Tan, yet the KC and KDs carry two tone green? Surely as the AOA Atlanteans lost their ads, and were repainted, they could've gained Green? After all, Galway did repaint D480 into green in the same year as this video, 1985

  • It could be that CIE wanted the KDs and KCs to stand out from the Atlanteans.

Of course, two-tone green was eventually applied to the Ds and DFs that passed to Dublin Bus.

  • wow i remember those zoo advert busses

  • thanks for uploading these vids brings back lots of memories.

  • Great footage. Good to see all those bues,.

  • 4:29 to 4:38 - that looks very much like the prototype KD built by FFG in Hamburg. Notice the smaller roof dome.

  • Yes thats KD1 alright, you can see the blue vinyl seats which it had for most of its life, also note the rear number destination (rarely used)

  • KC1 also happened to have a rear route number display - did CIE not see a need for such a feature on production KDs and KCs?

  • EXCELLENT STUFF Thanks!!

  • Brings back memories. Thanks for sharing.

  • jesus has this country changed

  • thoses green bombardiers look brand new

  • I am in America 18 years now and watching tis has brought back great memories. i was looking for playland and downstairs at eden quay because I used to lay video games there

  • where is all the traffic lol

  • Top class video. I remember Dublin so well in the mid 80's as a very young skinhead. One thing I did notice was the excellent condition of the roads and utter lack of road works.

    Thanks once again.

  • "Excellent condition of the roads and utter lack of road works" Are you joking? The roads were crap back then! The reason there is no roadworks is there was no money to fix the roads! Rose tinted glasses and all that.

  • Hmm you may have a point.

  • dublin changed so much now

  • See the cinema @4.10 showing "Letter to Brezhnev" and "The Woman who married Clark Gable" both released 1985.

  • How did you make that out mate?

or am i goin blind? lol

It's mad the way that little cinema is still there and still open for business today...

  • I suspect this was actually recorded after 1987, as there is a Volvo 440 at 3:09 into the video, and they didn't come out until 1987.

  • Looks more like a 340 saloon.

  • I stand corrected.

  • correct me if i am wrong but if this was shot post 87 ( which it is;nt ) you would have steen the start of the dublin bus green livery appearing on the atlanteans

  • Great video. How times have changed.
