As for being a "gud" user of "photshop"...just experiment with all the different tools for about a week so you know what they actually do when it comes to reading tutorials.

Actually Jpeg is best for a regular picture like someone at the beach. PNG is what you want to save it as if you're using any graphical designs. But facebook automatically converts it to Jpeg which fuks up the quality so keep it small to medium in size if you upload it on there.

The method of turning the image to grayscale that you used is the worst imaginable method. It doesn't draw out any coloration properly and creates blurred when available variances. You would have been better to apply an active layer creating a proper black and white, then merging that into the layer.

all i do is instead of saving .png is just copying the file saving one as a .jpeg for myspace and a .psd for photoshop then i still have all my layers and stuff if i need to edit the photo again

.png is better than .jpeg

.png = for multiple times of editting photo's, so if you wanna re-edit a photo again save as .PNG !!!

.jpeg = for one time editting, it's correct what he sais... if you don't have to re-edit it ever again, and you wanna upload it onto a site ( like myspace ) ALWAYS SAVE AS .JPEG ). However, if you re-edit your .jpeg again it will lose a lot of quality!
