John Kerry served this country bravely and his military record was unfairly trashed by the lies spread by the 2004 Bush Campaign. It was well known that John McCain did not follow orders and as a result he crashed 4 planes before his plane was shot down in Vietnam.

He lied about being bayoneted by the Vietnamese when he was fished out of the lake he crashed into.

The uniform he was wearing that day was preserved and is in the museum at the Hanoi Hilton (the prison he spent 5 years)...The uniform has no bayonet holes.

We know little of his military record other than he had a history of crashing planes & he spent time as a POW. The POWs gave McCain special treatment when he became a song bird. It is well known about the POWs, who by the way, do not support McCain. The POWs are a tight knit family, and when the group looks at another as a black sheep there is always a reason. When was the last time you saw someone wearing a POW hat at a McCain speech?

Actually, the place you finish in the academy has nothing to do with the plane you fly or if you get to be a pilot. Just passing can get you to flight school. Your position in the class at flight school is what determines what you fly. And that's regardless of the school too. You don't have to go to the naval academy to be a pilot. You can graduate from the worst school in the country and pass the test to get to flight school, and as long you do well at flight school, you can be a combat pilot.

McCain proved he could make a good prisoner of war. McCain never proved he was a good pilot or even a good military person. He was given special treatment in the service because his daddy was an admiral. I think there is some confusion. His promotion from captain was not to Admiral. He was offered a promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral which is a different rank entirely and can be achieved within 2-3 years of captain. Rear Admirals are referred to as Admirals just as a Brigandier General or Lieutenant General are reffered to as Generals even though the rank of General is a higher rank. Anyway.. That is probably the confusion.

I think it's reasonable to assume he crashed so many planes because he was a bad pilot, just as it's safe to assume he was a bad pilot because he was a lousy student and a hothead who always thought he knew better than his superiors. In both of these instances, he was protected by the fact that he was well connected in the military establishment.
