Ryan.... Thanks for all the great instruction. I know you are always very busy, but I hope that you continue to pick different tunes and break them down into understandable parts. Keep posting! :-}
great video! I wanna learn playing tin whistle myself, so do you think I need to buy one of those beginners dvds that could be found on ebay and web or I could find lots of useful stuf on you tube?
Thank you for the new video! Even though I'm nowhere near being able to play this tune yet, it's still a nice one to listen to (in my case, over and over!).
Great lesson. Hope this helps, I know I struggled trying to find the times over and over again. Please give it the 'thumbs up' to keep it at the top Example of whole song 1:38 Part 1 A - 2:52 B - 3:24 C - 4:19 D - 5:14 Part A as a whole - 5:36 Part 2 A - 6:28 B - 6:54 C - 8:03 D - 8:15
Thanks Ryan. You played my request and with brilliant instruction as usual. I will check out the book too. Shame that I'm still a bit bogged down with Silver Spears but I can't wait to play this tune. For more years than I care to remember, I have tried to play it but all the music I have is too fast and my sheet music doesn't explain the nuances enough for it to sound right.
Goes to show, the old adage is true: Some people will have the very shirt off your back. Hahh.
To answer your question about Dorian tunes: It is one of the old scales used in the medieval music (Byzantine church I think). In C sharp you start with D to D instead of C to C etc. Other scales are Mixolydean and Aolean. Also of the same old origin. Used a lot in folk music. Love your videos and music btw. You are a real gem when it comes to tin whistle!
