This female looks like my male mix "Moses". This is a tremendous mix, Akita/Sheppard ! They are strong, affectionate, and loyal! Thanks for putting this up, I am now totally convinced my rescued friend Moses is a mix like yours. They could have come from the same litter!

my rescue dog, hooch is spitting image of yours , altho im in the uk, after 13 months of trying ive finally managed to track what maybe 2 of his relatives , a brother and sister, but hooch is spitting image, its quite scary in a way lol

I just found out that my dog ( could be a twin) is an akita shepherd mix. I thought too that she was a malinois! She is so smart , funny and super affectionate! Love the trick!

She looks like our dog. My husband was 100%+ that the stray was Malinois, but a DNA test showed different. Ours is an Akita (majority) and German Sheperd (secondary) mix. I believe it.

I have a beautiful Akita/Sheppard as well, his name is Bear. Do you find that they are extremely smart, to the point of not enjoying things other dogs usually enjoy? He is going to be 8 and he never has chased after balls or sticks like other dogs. He is awesome though, and I love his intelligence! no complaints lol

Dear antianni1: They are very loyal dogs. When a man tried to break into our house at 2 in the morning, my Akita Shepherd rammed herself against the plate glass window. The guy froze. He thought she was going to go through it. They are also very smart. So you have to be one step ahead. My dog will walk by and step on your foot if she wants to go out. She also took off the muzzle the vet put on her so she could give her her shots opened the door and

left.

She is as loyal as they come and she is very fun to play with, she is easily amused by our humanly anitcs. Out of our 3 dogs she is by far the most alert and attentive to people that walk by our house and other unusual noises outside. If someone rings our doorbell she will be the first one to jump on the door and ferociously bark, accompanied by spittle to accentuate the intimidation. With that said if we were to invite the guest into our house she will be the most loving friend.

@thedude44963 Thanks! Although she picked up the trick after just a few easy tries. I think what really worked was if she failed to hold in position and dropped the treat or failed to snatch the snack in air at the "go", we would not allow her to scrounge the dropped snack from the ground. As a result she would try really hard to to maintain position and balance the food and when she heard "go" she was focused enough gobble the snack. She is currently 95lbs.

@antianni1 I have one of these dogs, his name is Makita. Everyone is afraid of him when they walk into my house. They are very intimidating dogs and are very smart and alert. Even if someone pulls up into the neighbors driveway he is barking at them. But once you walk into the house and sit down he is your best friend. And they live a very long time. I have had him sense he was a pup and now he is 9 years old and still acts like he is a puppy.
