There's a difference between how Megadeth did pop and how Metallica did pop. Megadeth did it well. I'm not dissing Metallica at all, I just like their older stuff better. This was a necessary step for the band. Back in the 1999, metal was basically dead. Everyone was into rock, hard rock, alternative rock, pop... if Megadeth had put out a metal record that year, and would've done worse than Risk, which by the way, actually went gold and was one of their best selling records.

Also, on a personal note, this CD has many songs that really speak to me musically (and lyrically, sometimes). I just get goosebumps listening to this and Time: The Beginning.
