Hey mannly5, if you can insert your DVD into your computer, you can download a ripping program (I don't know if you use mac or windows, but for mac i use mac the ripper) and then the dvd files will be on your computer. then you can use a program like mpeg streamclip and choose what part of the video you'd like to export as a standalone movie that you can then upload

Actually there's equipment which can record from VHS into a computer system and generate a video file, though it doesn't come that cheap.
