  • Being in Detroit and experiencing the games firsthand, Barry Sanders was the BEST pure running back since they played with leather helmets! Those who say otherwise, no offense, don't know football. Emmit smith was the product of a good O-line and fullback. This is way most NFL players and coaches say he's at the top.

  • Hell naw top 10 hbz r

    1-GALE

    2-WALTER

    3-JIM

    4-BARRY

    5-ADRIAN PETERSON

    6-LADIAN

    7-MARSHALL FAULK

I cant even think of any more but thtz top 7 n order

  • Herschel Walker is just as good or better

  • Watching him was like watching a Roman Gladiator.

  • The guy never showboated, never celebrated, never talked about anyone. He wasnt a silent assassin running the ball. Picking defenses apart and making ppl look like fools when they tried to bring him down. This dude was a joy to watch. Sad the lions couldnt put a decent team around this guy. With a good qb and receiver and a decent o-line, theres no telling what they wouldve accomplished. Shame on the detroit lions for not giving this guy what he needed..

  • Theres only 1 debate.. Barry sanders vs Jim brown.. No one else comes close.. Stats dont tell the whole story.. Barry played on horrible teams, no o-line, no receivers, no tight end, no fullback lead blocking, no qb, etc. He was a 1 man gang. He had moves on top of moves. He was the best "running" back to ever play the game imho. Jim brown was more of a bruiser but also up there with barry. Walter payton? Emmitt smith? Both played on sb winning teams.

  • Think of it this way, Barry is near the top of the rushing list even while having the most negatvie yards in a carrer. if givin a good O-line we are talkin about a potintial rush record that can't be broken.

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinions, so I'm not judging... however, I am gonna have to disagree. Sweetness was a great runner, but I think Barry has the advantage. Payton had a great offensive line AND had a great defense. If you put Barry in Walter's situation and Walter in Barry's, there's NO DOUBT that B.S. would've put up even crazier numbers while W.P.'s numbers would've dropped drastically!

  • SIMPLY THE BEST RUNNER IN ALL NFL HISTORY!!!

  • all i gotta say is 3rd all time rusher playing only 9 years on consistently the worst team in the league? Dude was just amazing to watch

  • Could look at these videos all day. Best thing about Barry was he was humble. No celebrating.

  • i think barry was the greatest running back ever. he could make a 10 yard loss exciting to watch lol H e could make the whole team miss tackle lol

  • He's more of a walter payton wanna be, his style is like his but walter was the hardest runner ove ever seen.

  • Emmitt disliked this video 7 times

  • Thank god for the mute button. Its sad that such a tribute video has the background music that only huge flaming faggots could stand to hear.

  • @EmperorTokugawa Someone's a homosexual!!...

  • I'm a Cowboys fan, but if Barry and Emmitt had swapped teams, Barry would undoubtedly have shattered the rushing record and been recognized as the best RB ever.

  • Beast

  • Not forgetting that Barry was the most classy person you could ever wish to play with. Today, you average players jumping up and down, trash talking, just cos they made a first down. Many of Barry's average runs would be career highlights for these cats. If anyone had the right to get hysterical and trash talk, it was Barry. But no matter how spectacular the play was, he'd simply flip the ball to the official and jog back to the huddle or sideline. TRUE CLASS.

  • Just like I always say when people get in the Barry vs. Emmitt debate, if you put Barry behind the Cowboys offensive line he would have shattered Emmitt's numbers.

  • Barry Sanders was the absolute best!!!@ there has been know one since and know one before he was absolutely amazing ..., I miss Barry

  • Imagine if this guy had an offensive line like the Steelers, Pats or Colts today? or a quarterback like Montana, Brady, Marino, Manning? This guy would have had numbers that of a video game on cheat mode

  • How do 7 people accidentally hit the dislikes button on this video?

  • Hospitals were thriving back in his day... Ankle Surgery Was Booming

  • 7 people were juked by Barry!

  • this guy could gain yardage with just the quarterback blocking for him..lol

  • There will NEVER be anyone like barry sanders

  • 0:04 it said B.S lol

  • Even Bo Jackson say that Barry the best.

  • the best ever

  • watch his ball handling esp at 5:22 ... switching hands away from the defenders - that stuff was all automatic and probably many times unconscious

  • He joined the right team! Go Lions!

    Barry Sanders is the best!

  • amen to that!! he should have joined the dolphins and then the best QB of all time would have had the best rb. I mean think about what he could have done with emitts 94 offense line or walters 86 line. and they knew who was gettin the ball ever time and they still couldnt touch him. LT said he would make the biggest idiot out of you, just out right embarrass you.

  • *Teeing off. :/

  • Lets not forget also, that he was doing for TEN years straight. No average seasons, only one season when they had the best offense(1994). He really should've joined the Dolphins or something. What Dan Marino lacked was a killer running game, to stop defences feeing off on him. That would've been a killer offense!

  • What's the song at 6:31? I can't find it...

  • If Barry was the tail back and Walter Payton was the fullback, a whole mess of trouble would be comin the defences way =)

  • Barry Sanders running the ball was God playing Madden. Nuff said.

  • all this editing gives me a headache.

show him receive the ball and complete the play.

  • Best player of all time!!! Barry sanders!!!!

  • damn what if he played with the cowboys with their o-line and all, good grief this guy would have set records that would be unbeaten till this day.

  • the juke at 1:35...he does two straight stutter steps to the left, defender falls on his butt.

  • I cannot come up with enough superlatives to describe this man's running. SICK. He was just SICK. Watching this video takes me back to a very happy place in my mind. I recommend it to anyone suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, dysthemia or Lions fandom.

  • Started watching NFL in the 70's. Never seen anyone better @ the RB position. For Sayers & Brown, I didn't see them play, so can't include those two.

  • I hate that all Barry Sanders highlight reels are in slow motion. You need to see this guy in normal speed to understand why all those defenders are missing.

  • Barry RULZ! Ford sucks!

  • best running back of all time hands down no one in the league has been able to move like him since

  • Barry! Barry! Barry!

  • at 8:00 through 8:07 he dosent evan get touched thats how good he is. THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sanders was a true warrior, to go out and compete like that and carry your team, knowing that everyone around you stinks, the best ever in my opinion, and if you don't believe so, you have to give me top 3 runners of all time

  • The Greatest Ever.

  • @gambitazul Nope. Walter Sweetness Payton was better.

  • @jstafford81 based on what? Payton deserves to be in the HOF but isn't good enough to be compared to Sanders.

  • @srsh12345 what made sanders better than payton?

  • @jstafford81 Taking nothing away from Sweetness, there's no RB in history I'd pay money to watch than Barry. Barry had no offensive line and retired on top. Give Barry Sanders the Chicago Bears offensive line and he would've shattered all the rushing records. I can say there will one day be someone as great as Walter, but in my lifetime, there will never be another Barry Sanders.

  • @gambitazul bears o-line was just as bad...

  • @jstafford81 Are you kidding me? Give Walter Payton the Detroit Lions offense line, and we're talking Sweetness who? Sweetness would've lasted 2 years max from all the beating he would've taken from the worst line in football. Do you understand how moronic you sound right now?

  • @gambitazul no im not kidding you, compare the late 70's to early 80's bears OL to early 90's lions OL. they are practically identitcal, and walter pussy out even with the lion offensive line? he hit harder than any other running back EVER! barry was a pussy because he couldnt hit a guy 1 on 1 , he HAD to run around him, you sound retarded for calling walter a pussy compared to barry sanders.

  • @jstafford81 I seem to remember several instances in this video alone that show Mr. Sanders breaking tackles. While I will agree that Walter Payton is far from a "pussy", what I believe gambitazul is trying to say - and I agree with the following - is that Mr. Sanders had nothing to work with in terms of an offensive line OR a decent passing game and he still has the second most rushing yards of all time AND the best rushing average of anyone who has played for a reasonable amount of time.

  • what style of offense did barry sanders play in

  • @young12money Run and shoot and Coryell Offense

  • @young12money Started off in the run and shoot, then a 3 WR, 1 RB offense in the mid 90s and finally got a blocking fullback in 1997 when he rushed for 2,053 yds.

  • I dont see how people can even argue that Barry wasnt the best off all time. Forget footbal NOBODY in the history of Humanity can move like him! PERIOD! Watch highlights of great running backs. Most times emmitt and other people are 6-7yds deep in the secondary before he gets touched. Barry barley gets the ball before he has to break some poor d linesmens ankles! watch poor 93 at 2:06 just gave up! lol

  • @dmille460 It's the Detriot Lions, there o-line weren't that good, as soon as barry got the hand off, he basically was running for his life haha

  • @dmille460- He could of broke walton paytons rushing yards record easily and didn't have a damn line, I'm not saying emmitt smith wasn't great but he had a offensive line....

  • i'm a die hard bears fan, but damn. loved watching him play. GREATEST RB EVER!!!!

  • All of his runs began 3 yards in the backfield. The All-Time Rushing record was his to break.

  • Agreed. Easily the greatest ever. He just was saddled with one of the worst teams of all time. Given an Offensive line that wasn't the Swiss cheese that made up the Detroit Cowardlies, he would've of averaged about 2k yards a year at his peak, and the record would be totally untouchable.

  • Name of the first song?

  • @someguy1893 : Hyper - "We Control"

  • @marmottin cheers!

  • He crossed one dude up like Jordan!!!

  • Better than Emmitt Smith

  • @metalmilitia1890 fuck yeah! :P

  • Comment removed

  • When he dies his legs need to put on display in a museum

  • barry could have had a 2500 yard rushing season with the o line dallas or green bay had in the 90's

  • And one more thing Dallas had the best O line in the NFL. Put barry sanders in the back field with that O line and Put Emmitt with the Lions O line???? No one would of ever heard of Emmitt Smith if it was not for that O line of Dallas

  • First of all dallas5sb how many years did it take for your lil pal emmitt to break walters record and how many teams did he play for? hmmm Barry sanders has CLASS somthing emmitt smith will never have. Barry had the chance to smash the record and make it unbeatable but he did not. He is the best of all time and no one will be able to take that from him. YES he did have a lot of loss of yards but he made that up with his great runs and HE WAS THE TEAM No SH** why they never won in the playoffs!

  • One touchdown in six playoff games? One 100 yard game? lol 66 yards per game? What happened to him? He was great but lets not make him Jesus by finding his best runs. Its not like Emmitt never broke tackles or had to put a move on someone.

  • Wayne Fontes OWES his former employment to Barry Sanders.

  • Sanders led the league in minus yards runs in his career. lol No highlghts of thiose? The minus 1 yard total on 13 carries vs GB in the 94 playoffs? lol

  • @dallas5sb Those would be low-lights. These are highlights, why are you even critisizing(sp) him he is the best of all time.

  • @maxypooh15 In a big game, I'll take Smith. Three of Emmitts' offensive linemen played on the 1-15 Cowboys in 89? Tueni, Newton and Kevin Gogan. How come their offense sucked in 89 if the line was sooo good? Try because Emmitt came and made em look good. Emmitt was a great player and ass_oles treat him like he wasn't. Thats a hater for you. Sanders was great but with Smith its "good" Not in this lifetime was he just good.

  • Barry Sanders averaged 64.3 yards per playoff game in his career? He had one 100 yard game in six playoff games. He scored only one touchdown in the playoffs. Emmitt had 1,586 yards in the playoffs with 21 touchdowns. Smith averaged 93.3 yards per playoff game. Smith scored 186 touchdowns in his career to 110 for Sanders.Smith had 23,165 all purpose yards to Sanders 18,190 yards. Take a laxative Sanders fans! lol

  • @dallas5sb i am a die hard dallas fan. but really, sanders had no o-line. emmitt had people like erik williams and larry allen. the lions had no much of a passing threat compared to a HOF qb a receiver plus harper and novacek. plus emmitt played longer. not down playing emmitts accomplishments but barry was more talented

  • @speranzayaya Thank you. At last we have a level headed and non biased Cowboys fan giving an honest opinion. Wish there were fans like you. Smith was a great player but Barry was simply on a different leve to any RB I've sever seen. Switch Barry and Emmitt on those teams and I don't see Emmitt with any Super Bowl rings, MVPs or coming close to 4 rushing titles and the all-time record. Barry in Dallas would have been ridiculous with defenses having to respect the threat of Aikman, Irvin and co

  • @echo6161 Should have said: wish there were MORE fans like you. I can't stand homerism so fair play to you speranzayaya. Franco H has 4 rings. Is he the best ever? Of course not. You simply don't grade players on a 45 man team sport based on team achievements and rings, especially RBs. Even Walter Payton only reached the playoffs twice (both losses) during his first 9 seasons in Chicago. The Bears couldn't win during Walter's prime but did when he was old with their legendary Defense. Nuff said.

  • For the first years of his career, Rodney Peete had the privilege of hiking the ball, turning around and saying "Okay you do the rest."

  • whos acl did he break again?

  • @Dogslax3333 Rod Woodson

  • if he would have had an offensive line like emmit smith there is no telling what he could have done

  • THE BEST

  • I hate to say it because i love L.T.2 so much, but barry sanders is the best running back that was ever was!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah hes alright

  • Here's a couple of fun games to play, Lions fans. Name the QB (I counted 7, with 14 and 12 each being worn by 2 different guys) and Spot the embarrassed future defensive HOFer.

  • @Starchaser10 heres another, can the Lions win more then 2 games in a season!? lol

  • @dallas5sb Wow you really are a lion hater, why?

  • @maxypooh15 I don't really care for the Lions but I don;t hate them but with Sanders, so many say hes the best and they ignore 186 touchdowns and 19,959 yards by Smith. Does anyone say well Rice played with two HOFame QBs? Isn't the westcoast offense the best for receivers? Same with QB Montana and Favre? Didn't a bum like Ganon excel in that offense in Oakland? No one says that crap about them but with Emmitt? "Oh well he had a great offensive line"

  • Here's a couple of fun games to play, Lions fans. Name that QB. (I counted 7 myself) (14's and 12's were each worn by 2 different guys.) And spot the embarassed defensive HOFer.

  • The best block in the whole video is the ref at 4:29

  • what is the name of the second fuckin song

  • @zhulce "International Statement" Its the theme song for NFL Primetime... google search it and it should pop up

  • what is the name of the second fuckin song cant find it no where

  • Barry Sander's highlight video is so amazing because that o-line was terrible. On every play, as soon as he touched the ball he had to shake defenders. Most of the time it doesnt look like someone playing football, but someone running for his life. And they wonder why he retired early after doing this for almost a decade, while lesser men wouldnt last a season.

  • @broederkundoe

Terrible? Are you serious? there are highlights in this where he doesn't get touched...just runs straight up the field. He had two all-pro linemen for most of his career.....not to mention AWESOME blocking wr's (Herman Moore, Germain Crowell, Johnnie Morton)

  • @dawhiteguy622

Aikman, Irvin, Harper, Novacek, Moose Johnston, Dallas OL OR Scott Mitchell/Rod Peete/Andre Ware, Herman Moore, Morton, Perriman, No TE, No FB, Detroit OL.

Which one would 100% of players choose do you think? Seriously there have been NFL player polls by cnnsi where Barry's peers was selected as the best player they have ever seen. Montana, Rice and Payton were behind him. Emmitt wasn't even on the radar. TSN's 100 greatest players ever had Barry miles ahead of Smith.

  • Should say Barry's peers chose him as the best player they had ever seen. If you don't believe me whiteguy622 you are more than welcome to look at the cnnsi vault and do a search for the article. Terrell Davis, Curtis Martin and Robert Smith all have Barry #1 ever. Sayers and Brown said he was better too. Sanders was a unanimous choice for the 90s team - one of only 5 players. He was a 10-time All-Pro in 10 seasons, Emmitt just 6 times in 15 seasons, the last 6 or 7 of which were very mediocre.

  • "First thing you do when they hand Barry the ball is, you stop breathing"

  • What is the 2nd song?

    and the 3rd song?

  • THE BEST EVER! End of discussion.

  • Im Proud Barry Is From The Homewtown.....it must be the water in Kansas! Cuz we got talent !

  • That's why I own a Barry jersey!!!

  • GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 10 seasons and 10 straight probowls

  • @Jalves23 when did he leave the NFL?

  • @Sirradal Google "Barry Sanders" and find out... jeez

  • @yougotmikelopez jeez des nuts in yo mouth. (haha)

  • @Sirradal Yea nugaa... my nuts in yo mouff haha... Dumb fuck would rather type in the question twice than go look it up... thats why u at miami dade college bitch

  • @yougotmikelopez What? What's the school got to do with it. Go choke yourself.

  • he retired in 1999

  • Barry was the shit I miss those days.

  • there will never be another running back like this because players these days are afraid of getting hurt ..?? why cuz they want 2 prolong there careers so they can make more money oh ya barry the best of all time

  • man whats the second song called?

  • at 3:38, his own teammate just stands and watches.

  • @utfanjr haha theres like a dozen times in this video where a teammate is just standing there

  • This man has more control over his body than I have ever seen in another human being or wild animal!

  • 3:10 Mr. Alligator arms.

  • And I don't blame Barry one bit for retiring when he did- He was sick and tired of losing and of the Lions' ineptitude, as far as their building a championship team around him. In my opinon, Barry deserved better.

  • barry sanders = Jesus on the gridiron

    nuff sed

  • neat video. terrible music.

  • I got a broken ankle watching this

  • damn amazing. never seen a rb that broke so many people ankles.

  • 1:36 is one of my favorites. #25 has no chance! in the open field at full speed and Barry changes direction like 4 times! #25 is just like oh oh oh, oh crap!

  • greatest running back ever to play the game.... BAR NONE.

  • @EDAJIREC Nope. watler patyon was better

  • @jstafford81 he was great, but no where near better than Barry

  • @1danyol1 Explain.

  • I once read that Barry holds the record for the most lose of yard as a RB. True??

  • yes he does and even with that hes still 3rd all time. He has because of his running style and his awful line. If you watch his tape almost every time he has to make a guy miss in the backfield just to get to the line of scrimmage!

  • Yes its true because he had no O line at all. He had to break a good 2-3 tackles in the backfield before even getting back to the line.

  • i think so because his style was whenever he meet someone of the line he usually went backwards to find another whole, the problem was that he drifted trying to find a whole that gave time for a cb defender to catch him from behind or there wasnt a whole

  • And this was a problem how? C'mon #20 had the best combo of speed, agility, and power the NFL has "ever" seen! Not saying he is the best back every but by far the most ELUSIVE! His running style was never a problem. And few DB's were able to catch him because of it.

  • @Leetyell Dude he is my favorite back off all time man, im just pointing out the obvious. He is a monster

  • One of my favorite athletes!!!

  • What makes me call an athelete an athelete...count injuries that only we can feel next to stats...who cares "give me some more"...Barry should be given an achievement ring like a Super Bowl for his contributions to the game...Thanks Barry for adding to the basics...

  • Bloody hell, Barry Sanders pissing me off.. How the f**k does he change angles/directions with ease.lol. His ankle breaking moves are ridiculous!! Will be the greatest ever!!!!

  • Total freak.. freakish athlete

  • my favorite athlete ever.

    2:35 - 2:55 = complete pwn

  • BARRY IS KING

  • hardest guy to tackle ever

  • im the next barry!!

they call me barry sanders in my skool

    :)

  • there is only one barry. you be you. you be better than barry. so people will say i want to be the next whatever you name is.

  • I'll take Barry over anybody,ANYBODY!!!

  • lol @ 2:07 .... dude just lays down

  • Barry Sanders is like watching Poetry in Motion. There will never be a never running back that has that kind of elusiveness. Just think if Barry had Emmitt Smith's offensive line back in the day.

  • im a football player and soccer def takes more physical fitness. you have to be in such good shape to keep running up and down the field. so shut up.

  • haha well in football theres contact that wont be called a foul. in soccer you have to hit the ball thats gay and ive played both. soccers to stay in shape and football for the fun of hitting and contact

  • why are you dumb asses talking about soccer on an ultimate clip of barry sanders?!?!!?!?! soccer is for pussy's. grow some damn balls and get physical with it. get some muscle and step up, be a man and play a physical sport instead of being some 150 lb. twig. good luck with the ladies. fricken fruit loop. hahaha. what a joke. dont disgrace barry by talking bout panzy soccer on here. c'mon man!

  • i bet soccer players get much more pussy, im all for football, but chick don't dig muscles

  • just for the record...

in soccer, the defenders objective is to get the ball.

in football, the defenders objective is to take the body.

the soccer ball is much smaller than the body, the football being "attached" is actually a disadvantage.

and while the soccer defender has to keep position on a player, they also have to watch for shooting lanes and passing lanes so they're more passive.

in football the defender is much more aggressive giving less space and time to make moves.

  • Your prob the 30 yyeae old you fag

  • What kind of 30 year old wud have a youtube name austinrox1309?

And onemorewin i hope you dont live in arlington texas cuz i almost have the nerve to whoop your pussy ass

  • still the best

  • Doesn't it just suck that some of the best players in history were on shit teams

  • soccer is based on skill. football based on raw athleticism. meaning someone who never played football b4 can still excel if he is strong and fast. not the case 4 soccer. people are not born with the ability to have complete control of a ball with their feet. soccer players are not as athletic as football players and football players are not as skilled as. thats all

  • Wow someones got quite a little ego on them.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha im 16 too you fucker

  • ya right you keep saying that
