@Chessie9009 They often used larger than normal tenders or auxiliary tenders to increase the range. With water towers long gone, you had to stock up on the water. When I rode the 611, the local fire department filled the tenders.

1218 was rated at 6500 hp, 611 at 4500 and I can`t find info on 587

because Norfolk Southern didn't have enough Money to continue the steam program so they had to shut it down :(

The late 1980's video is shot on 8mm video, and the early 1990's footage is shot on Hi-8.

Standard 8mm video was comparable to VHS quality...just more compact. Hi-8 had improved resolution.
