Tom Lehrer is my comedy hero! actually he is my hero of all time! New songs just cant compare. I must say though his voice sounds different when he sings (better). and does anyone know where i can get the piano notes for this song, the best song!
@gspendlove, oh thank you, I loved your comment. Look, don´t get put off by my stupid username "6funswede". Click on that name and visit the channel, no crap there, the channel is Lehrer only. And then email the link for his song "Send the Marines" to 10 friends while you enjoy the line "to the shores of Tripoli". That really IS good satire:-)
@MrsNorris55, how nice to hear that (and I`m not an official promoter profiting on this). Truth be told, the rediscovered Lehrer 1967 video performance was released in Los Angeles in April, and it really is the comedy Christmas gift of the year in the United States (and elsewhere :-)
This guy helped enhance my vocabulary very much. I heard his first album when I was in junior high and had no idea what many of his words meant. lol. Got a lot of practice with a dictionary too. I love his satire and he is a master of the piano too.
I am truly happy that Tom Lehrer is having a resurge. I have all his albums from decades ago and they got me through some pretty heavy times living in Apartheid ridden, state police menacing South Africa. Thank you Tom!
@1992Medusa I think it was probably less because any particular country was "superior" in this case, but more that sending all the nukes you've got doesn't take that long, and after that either way the war is over.
I've seen a few vids of his songs that are just the songs with lyrics thrown up or random fitting visuals, but listening to the intro in front of it just makes it soooooo much funnier to me.
Haha, I can just imagine: Next on TV, we will be showing the World War Three Movie. *Program begins/ends. Wow Mom, those sound effects were like they were ACTUALLY HAPPENING RIGHT OUTSIDE. Too bad it was only an hour long. Oh well, look Spongebob's next!
Thank you, These twelve songs - never commercially released on video - are easily some of the rarest recordings on YouTube. Now they're in HQ, and it's a free ride. Spread the word :-)
This song is both hilarious and quite sad, when you think about it.

I didn't think it was possible for this song to get any better, but seeing Tom sing it with that little smirk on his face just made my decade!

he's right ya know. People actually tought at most wars that they would win very fast because their country was 'superiour' to the enemy.
