  • mont tremblant quebec is very nice ant cozy

  • By far the best mountain in North America.

  • really wanna come here but cant afford it :(

  • Can someone please explain what tilt shift is and how you do it?

  • 10 people have never been to Whistler. That's sad.

  • Amazing video

  • HOW?

  • little people, little world

  • tilt shift fucks my mind over.

  • this was a good example of how tilt shift should be used. the bright colors and contrasts, as well as the fast forward motion and the great choice of motives really made it work very well.

as tilt shift is so hip and often so badly used, this video shows how its done! great stuff :)

  • Amazing! used to live here, but have never seen it like this.

  • @Sipkeholtes What's Whistler like to Live in? Really fancy getting a Canadian working Visa and living in Whistler for a little while, it looks so amazing. Any idea the best way to go about this, are there many jobs there? I'm from Scotland by the way.

  • 10 people dislike perfect happinessland =)

  • This video is AWESOME!

  • Perfekt

  • D

    CD

  • Wonderful work!

  • This is amazing stuff! What lens are you using here? I was also wondering what you used to capture motion, did you film it or take multiple stills and play them one after the other. Thanks and keep up the great work!

p.s I really want a tilt shift to make a video like this but im pretty poor. Ha Ha

  • tilt shift cinematography

  • there is no dislike bar

  • is this a snow globe or something?

  • watch in 1/4 speed. That's the real speed of footage

  • Comment removed

  • simply amazing!

  • I dont know why but is there any resolution to fix the replay button -_-

  • How can anybody find any reason to dislike this video?!?

What sort of intervals were used for the time lapse photography shots?

  • Going there in Easter 2012, my first snow holiday. It's going to be amazing!

  • I don't understand why would anybody dislike this video, this is amazing.

  • amazing... to the 8 people that disliked, you guys need to go to Whistler.

  • love this, miss canada, missed out on seeing it in snow, look forward to coming back

  • I want one!! =D

  • an xxs of whistler would still be bigger than most ski resorts at full size

  • is this stop motion?

  • @LadyOrnitia Are you stupid?? Or trolling?

  • Comment removed

  • @Imranrulezz You are clearly the less intelligible one

  • @veedubjunky

You are clearly uninformed. I was trolling. Look it up before making smart-ass remarks about one's intelligence. And please make proper use of the word "intelligible" next time.

  • i dont understand how people get the high shots... are they in a helicopter recording or just a tall building?

  • @JuanRojas956 no it has to be a tall building or sth, helicopter would be much too shaky ;-)

  • OMG Best stop-motion miniature video ever! It must have taken years to make this! The mini people are sooo accurate!

  • @Imranrulezz Is this sarcasm?? This isn't animation, it's real.

  • Comment removed

  • @aprilleee7 Omg, learn to detect sarcasm next time.

  • amazing video! thanks for sharing!

  • is this real? its so cool it looks set up

  • this is so cool

  • Great video love it can't wait till january till I am there

  • Yeeee!!!

  • sick ass video bro keep the good work up!!!

  • Does anyone know which part of Whistler 1:13 is? coz it looks like a hidden spot...epic pow!

  • Wow. Tilt Switch photography... It's like God is looking down upon the landscape.

Amazing. I can only imagine Gregorian chant music to a scenario like this with James Earl Jones doing some voice-over narrative! Stephen Spaulding / Isomer Prod.

  • I love love love this video. There's one out there of Coachella music festival as well. Search for it!

  • Awezin

  • I love this type of camera lens!

  • Tilt Switch photography changes speed and focus with editing aftereffects to create the illusion of small scale.

  • I dont get it, its real? Whatever, beautifull!

  • Che bello!! Bellisimo!!

  • Che bello!! Bellisimo!!

  • this is the coolest effect i have ever seen on a video. sweet vid

  • I love tilt shift - Excellent Vid!!

  • For everyone wondering how this was made, go to wikipedia and search for "Tilt shift"

  • @ESIFaKiE Thanks for the info! I was wondering how they did this. I knew it wasn't a miniature, but somehow it looked like one.

  • This looks like soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun

  • how the hell was this made

  • @holycheeseboy

special type of lense that makes everything look minature.

  • @sothatswhathapppened what is the lense called? cause i dont get how it does it. its so fascinating

  • @holycheeseboy

    Google or YT "Tilt Shift"

  • @holycheeseboy

    Googe or yt "Tilt shift"

  • @holycheeseboy WHAT DOES IT MEAN????????????????

  • The fact is that the miniature effect simply adds to the beauty of Whistler Blackcomb.

  • Wow-How? I don't get it <:-0

  • I love the narrow focus, it really does look like miniatures! Great music too!

  • sims

  • amazing.

  • Makes me think of how aliens might see our goings on, and how stupid the things we sometimes do, can look from afar.I would think degenerates like robbers, thieves and rapists would see this retrospective, almost god-like view on humans and just tone it down a bit or knock that shi* off entirely. One hopes anyway.

  • Fantastic Clip!!!

You inspired me to make a XXS clip of Flaine (France) search on youtube:

    UP in Flaine XXS

    Thanks, Menno from Holland.

  • black ants on white. Chipper and strangely disturbing and dehumanized at the same time. ...The creepy magic of tilt-shift.

  • Perfect

  • Really amazing!!!

  • ahh I LOVE the miniature effect, and you did it in real time, no construction sets or stop-motion photography..this is so sick..what kinda camera did you use and lens?

  • @regulatorzone Thanks! Actually, there is one stop-motion sequence in there. The first snowcat shot is a model. We used a Canon 7D and a bunch of different lenses. The effects were added in post.

  • @Switchbackent

that's crazy..nice stuff..if you guys are brain-storming ideas on what to shoot next, then my suggestions are a circuit race on a popular track in America or anywhere worldwide, you know, get some shots of the race cars and then they look like toy cars..pretty much sporting events are great for this effect

  • Just amazing!!!! Perfect camera angles, to create one of the most incredible tilt shift shots... People don't know how hard it is to get the right angle and the right amount of zoom to really make it look good... You did it! Good job!!!!

  • I wannnna go sooooo bad

  • I would like to see an entire movie shot in this perspective and filming technique... Lookin awesome...

  • @Heratiki Tilt shift fotograpy give the impression of a miniature model being used as setting. In the 80s and 90s there were alot of series and movies for kids that made used of miniatures, and thus they have the "feel" to them as current day tilt shift fotography.

But yeah, i get that that will only be a substitute and not what you specificaly requested.

  • Very Nice! Looks like you're not just filming the people, but it's like they know you're filming... The helicopter taking off, shovel switching his frontloader etc. etc.

  • Truely wonderful :)

    G x

  • magic.super idea

  • Really great video! i wish i had lots of moneys to get some equipment and have time to film lots of cool things like this :) thank you for sharing this with the world :)

  • Comment removed

  • this was more the likely done with a tilt-shift lens. Google images of tilt shift, everything looks miniaturized when one is used....its a spectacular effect.

  • lol at first I thought it was miniature @_@

  • @radulica Heheh. They tricked us a little by using real miniatures at the beginning 0:14, then real from 0:25.

  • Like a little town from a fairytale where live the happiest people ^_^

  • I sometimes wish YouTube would show who has disliked certain videos so I can see and ask or try to understand. It staggers me how anyone would find something in a video as beautiful as this to dislike. Of course, it doesn't have to do it for you to make you want to "like" it. Ignore it and move on. But to actually go to the bother of clicking "dislike" button there must be something that particularly offends you... for the love of all things holy, WHAT IS IT? Someone please explain... :-P

  • some frames are removed so it appears like stop animation.

  • what song is this????

  • How come everything looks like its miniature? ;P

  • @nahnvmdante tilf-shift lens

  • omgshhhh what is this real?! (:

  • I'm going to Whistler soon, and found this video that made me very excited! Forgotten all about my rubbish skiing, just can't wait now! Lovely video :) x

    Thanks so much!

And....Check my video about city, where I live...You can find it on my channel

name of video : This is Zlin

  • I love it! Love Whistler Blackcomb

  • So...TINY!

  • Lovely :)

  • ehhh...is this real or models?

  • Wow amazing video !! Love it !!! I miss you WHISTLER !!! Lots of memories !!

  • It's my home! Best vid of Whistler I've ever seen.

  • Best toy set evar!

  • IS THIS FAKE? LIKE DONE WITH SMALL MODELS?

  • @13aird actually, no. its a different technology. its called tilt shift, it speeds it up. everything is real, they make u think other wise at the beginning. my dad manages this band, white apple tree, they rock!

  • @13aird - To elaborate on headway37. It looks like this because of the blurred section and the feeling of a narrow depth of field, similar to what you get when you take a macro photo. All you're doing is creating a false macro shot. It can be done with a "tilt-shift" lens or can easily be simulated with individual pics using Photoshop. Lots of tutorials here on youtube on how to do it.

  • @OlafBumqvest Well said!

  • Can you tell us the gear you used?

  • Idk why but this scares the crap out of me.

  • This tilt & shift stuff is really getting oooooooooold fast.

  • Great! @MikeDski: did you use hw or sw (AE?) for the tiltshift effect?

  • @clickntube - Lots of tutorials here on youtube. If you look closely, you'll see a band of focussed area across the middle of the shot, with the top and bottom of the shot blurred. It gives the effect of a narrow depth of field, which simulates a macro photo. Then you just increase the colour saturation and its done. Very easy to do with photoshop on individual pics. For video you probably need the specific lens, that creates the blur-clear-blur bands, then just increase the speed.

  • Beautiful production!

  • wat kind of camera was used to film this ?

  • A lot of people have overused tilt-shift in lame ways lately, but this piece is great. Nice work! Makes me want to head up and ride... or drive a snowcat.

  • Seen that place from many perspectives, but that was new and unique... and that music accompaniment, sweet!

  • Tilt-Shift Video = Amazing!

  • thats awesome

  • I seriously thought this video was made all out of toys for a good 2 minutes. Wow.

  • AMAZING

  • The name of the song is : Passed Out by White Apple Tree

    @3:55 mans :)

  • It's really creepy how the camera positioning and the music make huge tractors and snowcats seem like they really are toys!

  • Les 3 Vallées in France is the biggest ski area in the world

  • 1 dislike? I didn't know Sauron had a YouTube account.

  • @raincoaster

Maybe it's not Sauron, but Gorlum?

U killin me here - LOL from ur comment

  • @raincoaster faggot

  • @CansBabyy jelus 8D

  • @raincoaster hhhahahhaahhahahaha its been a while since i've heard a lord of the rings reference, that just made my day

  • what´s song please?

  • @purosnow google it bro, i just did and it took me 5 seconds. No one should ever ask questions like that when your sitting infront of a computer online.

  • @purosnow Couldn't wait til the end of the video?

  • Anyone know the song?

  • @warkilla It's in the credits at the end.

  • Tilt shift effect plus stobe effect in final cut

There are great tutorial on how to do this online

  • That is a great video and great memories from Whistler!

  • Mind=blown

  • Wow! all the beauty of stop motion without any of the effort!....

  • excellent vid... beautiful place.

  • Why dose this have to be so far away!

  • A great way of showing a day in WB -- thanks--wish I was there!!

  • •British Columbia•

    "best place on EARTH"

    ^_^

  • Dope

  • amazing video, how did you film it? did you make it frame by frame???

  • @Csx773

It's a time lapse video - set the camera to "continuous shooting" and hold the shutter down. You might get about 3 or 4 frames a second and then combine the images into a video at 24 or 30 frames a second. Shutter speed should be about 1/4 second.

  • ants?

  • really cool how they fit so much action into one picture it's almost like it's a fake model of whistler :) nice stuff

  • Very cool video!! Love it.

  • Fantastic! Great video and thanks for putting the song Passed Out by White Apple Tree in the video. Nicely done.

  • Amazing!

  • The Borrowers do Whistler! LOL! Love it :-P

  • Gotta love tilt shift, only seen photos before, first time i seen a video done, excellent!

  • @swishtony

Check out YouTube user keithloutit. Keith Loutit produces the best tilt-shift videos, he was even credited on this video, I assume for technical info.
