Picture this; you see the gap is wide enough to get the bus through, you do your mirror checks and all is clear, then you start to drive through the gap so resume your concentration to the road ahead and all a sudden a cyclist tries to squeeze through at speed, but you're already moving the bus through the gap. No driver would expect a cyclist just to appear at speed. The cyclist was so reckless.

I have two major pet hates in life as a bus driver. They are cyclists and roundabouts and drive me insane. When I have to use a roundabout, my stress levels sore and when I have to deal with a cycling piece of shit, I become impatient and frustrated as they just blatently get in the way. I live in an area where road planning is poor and find it frustrating that the idiot in charge of the roads gets paid much more than I do, and therefore, should by all means get it right. There are also many problem roundabouts that cause endless problems and yet nothing gets done. As for cyclists, they have no regard for anyone, so is it any wonder most motorists hate them. I can handle a roundabout no problem.

However I don't think it's fair to say that cyclists all have no regard for anyone, most of us are considerate to other road users. Sure, there are a lot of bad cyclists just as there are a lot of bad motorists, and probably a few bus drivers. Why pick on cyclists specifically? After all, they are freeing up space on the road by cycling instead of driving.

Picture this; you see the gap is wide enough to get the bus through, you do your mirror checks and all is clear, then you start to drive through the gap so resume your concentration to the road ahead and all a sudden a cyclist tries to squeeze through at speed, but you're already moving the bus through the gap. No driver would expect a cyclist just to appear at speed. The cyclist was so reckless.
