  • crysis is about taking down the fucking trees, need for speed prostreet is about the fucking SMOKE, call of duty 4 is about massive combats whitch u cannot shoot.....i mean wtf!! give me a realistic game!!

  • DX10 is just a gimmick for people to buy vista and expensive gfx cards

  • i agree 100%

  • bye bye halo

  • i have the crysis demo (HARD TO GET IT!)

  • LIES! I got the alpha verison witch is the only version out

  • Generalherpes, vart fick du tag på de? Crysis alltså

  • how did u get it

  • yes it is

  • no it isnt dumbass

  • haha sucker

  • proof?

  • I hope my 8800 GTS 320 Mb version should run it.. if not :'(:'( :'(

  • O_O

    Your card should run it.

  • oke :D

  • What Gaming rig does that guy have? :O

  • aww i wanted this on xbox360

  • "aww i wanted this on xbox360"

Strangely, I'm not interested in this game one bit. Looks ok, but weak AI is WEEEEEEAAAK.

  • well if your not interested then FUCK OFF! this is one of the greatest games ever in development

  • "well if your not interested then FUCK OFF!"

no. I had already left and you decided to tap me on the shoulder, dumbass! >_<

"this is one of the greatest games ever in development"

    No again.

If it were a interactive movie, then MAYBE. But it's lame AI is LAME!

Graphics do NOT equal good GAME. >:O

  • And how do you know the AI is lame? Cos looking at most of the review are saying its stunning.

  • "Cos looking at most of the review are saying its stunning."

Right, because we all know that AI enemies that just stand perfectly still and fire deadpan at you is an example of kickass AI... Amirite?

Turns out that enemies that actually Duck, Dodge, roll and actually POSE A CHALLENGE would actually be an example of BAD AI and gameplay...

P.S. The guy in the video even said HIMSELF that he was a n00b. I'm sure he's an expert on what AI should be like in videgames tho! ;-)

  • I should have said preview. And im talking about PCG not this vid. This vid is old. The comments im reffering to are in this months PC Gamer. Ergo New.

  • "I should have said preview. And im talking about PCG not this vid. This vid is old. The comments im reffering to are in this months PC Gamer. Ergo New."

I don't read PCgamer nor am I goona start.

I want to SEE what the AI looks like in action. I say that, so far, the AI looks waaaaaay broken. If there are any VIDEO'S that show better examples of what the AI is about, let me know.

  • SHow me a vid of what u call good AI and ill show u one of it in Crysis

  • "SHow me a vid of what u call good AI and ill show u one of it in Crysis"

ANY vid where the enemies duck, dodge, roll or otherwise TRY TO FIND COVER when I am shooting at them.

Take your pick. So far, I haven't seen a SINGLE video where the AI in Crysis tries to EVADE danger to be a CHALLENGE.

All they do is just stand there and shoot deadpan at the player. That's THE SAME way the AI worked in Farcry.

  • The request is simple. Show me a vid.

In the mean time look at the "Best Crysis trailer ever" vid.

there are several points hes running behind cover to take them out.

A quote from PCG "The game's excellent and dynamic AI"

Also mentions how they spent 2 years on the full destructable environment and getting the AI to understand how the battlefield changes with each shot.

  • "The request is simple. Show me a vid.

In the mean time look at the "Best Crysis trailer ever" vid."

    1) There are TOO MANY videos to choose just one. Fine, look at a video of GoW, FEAR, Halo 1, Offline footage of BF2142, Star Wars BF 1 or 2, etc, etc. They ALL have more compelling AI than what has been shown so far with Crysis.

    2) I'm not talking about the PLAYER running for cover, I'm talking about the enemy AI doing it.

  • He has to run behind THEIR cover to take them out. And AI is a major thing, this is the standard from a non linear game. Think about it. they cant tell the NPCs that your coming from over there so the locations to hide are here, here and here. They have to make it so the AI will respond accordingly no matter which way u approach from. Ive played Halo 1 and BF2142 offline. Enemy AI isnt that stunning. Basic response, nout more.

  • "Ive played Halo 1 and BF2142 offline. Enemy AI isnt that stunning. Basic response, nout more."

They are both superior to the deadpan shooting that I see in all of the Crysis videos. Plus, if you flank the positions of the Covies in Halo 1 (Xbox) they change their cover.

Also, I forgot a game. Call of Duty 2. The list goes on an on...

  • The best game with the best AI out tere is STALKER . Even if the AI isn't good at fiding cover , once you have started shooting at a group of enemies in STALKERE..OMFG they never stop, they always move and switch cover,I never saw a bandit in STALKER who if he saw me,stand still. Even if its not realistic is very hard to kill!

  • "The best game with the best AI out tere is STALKER "

    ok, never played stalker.

  • check out these vids for STALKER AI watch?v=9cnHDnoVu44 watch?v=HXAXwUj89iA&mode=related&search=

  • the graphics is better than what you see , youtube destroyes quality , but in the second video you can see at the beginning its got a pretty nice HDR!

  • "the graphics is better than what you see , youtube destroyes quality"

    I know....

    :'(

  • 3) What PCG says means very little considering that AI takes a back seat in the PC gaming market.

Example: Oblivion's touted "Radiant AI" and the AI used in Half-Life 2. Both were weak as hell but PC reviewers were praising them as revolutionary and new.

    LOL@ your last comment!

  • Ai is universally lagging technologically speaking. 2 of the games u mention are liner games. BF 2142's AI varies from good shot to wtf are u doing. And SWBF they flew the planes into the frigging hanger door. the AI in that was some of the most amusing ive seen.

  • "And SWBF they flew the planes into the frigging hanger door."

Seeing as some HUMAN players that I know fly their fighters into the hanger doors, from time to time, I fail to see your point.

Nothing linear about the enemies acting differently when I act differently (Halo1, GoW, FEAR)

Also, Deus EX: Invisible war was "Non-Linear" and it's AI sucked, even for the time. Plus, must I REALLY bring up the broken AI of Oblivion again???

  • Yeah Oblivs AI did leave a bit to be desired...

And the game itself is still linear. Linear mearly reffers to paths through a game, not the AI quality. The point is they know where your coming from. Dont believe me stick on a no clip and come in a diff route. then you see it broken. And thats human retardedness when they fly planes into doors. Like a human player in bf2142 standing in the open shooting at you. Therefore using ur arguement Crysis AI is good because ive seen human players do it.

  • "The point is they know where your coming from. Dont believe me stick on a no clip and come in a diff route. t"

That is not how computer AI works at all. Look, in Halo, the AI responds to the player when the constructs "see" the player. It doesn't matter what direction you come from.

The game is designed the way it is because it is story heavy. It's VERY difficult to create a structured story unless you hold the players hand and make sure they don't go astray.

  • WTF it IS how AI works. Events are triggered by walking the path. how the even works out and how they respond to you is worked out using a mix of probability and randomised reactions based on the situation. If u dont set off that trigger the main event isnt going to happen. Trust me on this, im a comp sci student whos slanting towards AI. And u cant play titan offline cos they cant get the AI to work for it. And in Crysis they tend to be using god mode for demos.

  • You are talking about scripted events, I am talking about Combat AI reaction.

Example: In GoW, the AI will use cover objects as cover, just as the player can. If the cover is destroyed or compromised, they move to different cover.

If you shoot them, they will begin an evasive action routine to try and shake you. (Something MISSING from the Crysis vids)

Depending on the weapon they have, they will act TOTALLY different to maximize the effectiveness of said weapon.

  • Continued...

The even that comes right before the actual combat is scripted, but the AI that the enemy uses is rock solid.

They don't always use the same cover and actively try to smoke the player out of his cover.

Sometimes, they will spray and pray. Sometimes they will flank your position. Sometimes they will try to smoke you out and sometimes they will try the direct approach.

  • "Trust me on this, im a comp sci student whos slanting towards AI."

Clearly you need to study up dude. I've YET come across a situation in a game where the enemy AI just stood there and didn't do ANYTHING when they can see the player.

That's not how the AI in Halo, GoW or just about ANY other game I can think of works! >:O

"And u cant play titan offline cos they cant get the AI to work for it."

    I know that! XO

    That's why I mentioned it!

  • Look, different example:

In Prey, the enemies activate an alarm when they see the player. If there is NO alarm in the area, they ATTACK!

In Halo, if a grunt sees the player, they run to get help, if there is no help of if they are red, they attack. If they see an elite get killed, they run away and try to hide.

Those AI's respond dynamically based on their situation and what is in the area! They aren't specifically programmed one at a time.

    continued...

  • "And in Crysis they tend to be using god mode for demos."

    So?

The AI should still respond as though they were fighting someone who wasn't cheating.

Look, in Halo, if I get that close to an Elite, he'll duck, dodge, roll and otherwise fight back for his life.

If I kill an Elite, the grunts in the area aren't going to just sit there and shoot at me deadpan while I pick them off.

I guess the guns in Crysis are so powerful that the AI doesn't have to be any good.

  • Btw, I'm not saying that the AI in Halo is perfect.

When I snipe their position stalthily, they don't react to the dead bodies on the ground. The DO react when they see someone hit the ground tho.

That's MUCH better than the psychic guards that are in Farcry and (Judging from the Crysis vids that I've seen) Crysis too.

I mean, in one video, the player shoots a guard in a secluded area with a silenced sniper shot and he was instantly discovered! O_O

  • In that vid [if we're talking about the same one] the gaurd crys out when he dies. And im not saying that the AI does nothing. Im saying the events are not triggered. Some of ur AI refferences are fairly basic. Eg grunts have some kind of system built in. IF elite=dead THEN fun like ****. The thing is we are looking at developer vids of an unfinished game. I thing that before this agrument is going to be properly resolved the game has to be finished and played.

  • "ur AI refferences are fairly basic. Eg grunts have some kind of system built in. IF elite=dead THEN fun like ****"

Yeah, I know, that's why I've come to expect at least that level of response, even in an alpha level project.

I mean, people raved about the AI in Doom 3 when it came out and I said basically the same thing about that game as well.

  • "It's VERY difficult to create a structured story unless you hold the players hand and make sure they don't go astray. "

    (1) No its not , it just requires creativity. Look at Gothic 3 , the story can be influenced by the player. For example in the first part you need to free 5 -6 towns (cant rem played a long time) + the capital.

  • (2) Now you play as human and free the town from the orcs. If you free 3 towns from the orcs , then the orcs will attack you on sight anywhere in the map world , and in the other cities you didn't liberate and still have orcs as rulers. Now you will ask me what does this have to do with the story?

  • (3) Very simple , besides the fact that you can choose either to free them from the orc ocupation or help the orcs - wich will spawn 2 different quests and storyline , if you do consider helping the hmans and free 3 towns , you will make the orcs as enemyes , and thus you won't be abel to complete the quests the orcs give you...See very simple!v You can create a story , and not make it linear. And this is just an example!

  • And of course ...uh anyway you'll take it you get almost the same ending , coz the story is beautifully constructed! And even tho at the beginning you think your choices are very different , by the end you will see that anyway you would have choosed, you still get almost the same result ,so there you have it!

  • The developers are still holding your hand.

What you describe is known as a branching storyline.

  • of course they are still holding your hand...I mean think about it..its imposible to make a story and let the player do whatever he wants, coz he won't respect the story. You create a story , then ,you have to take the player through some stages so he understands the story, what I am trying to say is that you can give the player the illusion of some freedom in the game. Not like in Halo where Cortana commands you to go here and there!

  • "Therefore using ur arguement Crysis AI is good because ive seen human players do it."

Hardly, there's a big difference between being a bad pilot (This is *probably* the main reason why you can't play titan offline in BF2142) and not putting up a defense on the ground.

In Crysis, those guys don't seem to pose any kind of serious threat. Seems more like a game to make the player feel like he's better than he really is. :/

  • + look Crysis dosen't need to have enemyes who jump to take cover or sth like that. You play a nano-suit guy, a guy that jumps from a bush dude, and sweeps across the camp. Now put yourself in the soldier's position.Realistically he will respond like he never saw that , right? So of course he might get confused. I'm not saying the developers thought of that , but it is an explanation!

  • ...are you blind or something...dont you see how everytime the AI spots the guy they just sit there and shoot. They should run for cover or jump behind a car or something cool.

  • well since this is one month ago, i'll tell you to look at the stage demos for the game for the E307 videos. The AI is amazing, if you people ever tried to notice that this is a DEMO, not a full build. In the new videos, you can see AI call in for backup if you expose yourself, the AI runs from grenades, and they react to their teammates dying. That is good AI, without scripted scenes

  • oh ok..thx for the info, its good to know they will have good AI in the end.

  • The XP version looks like crap compared to the vista version.

  • there is a requirements page. Go to it! How stupid can you be? Instant results to your questions on one page, or asking stupid questions on a comment page getting results hours to days later?

  • Gay video, that guy is shit. Although looking forward to the game.

Please stop spamming w/ specs of PC's it annoys me ...HINT: GOOGLE!!!!

  • is my system good enough to play this game???

    intel core2 2.13 ghz ram: 2 gb

    videocart: 7900 cs

  • Your graphic card will have to be Direct x 10 So no your system is not powerfull enough.

  • "Your graphic card will have to be Direct x 10 So no your system is not powerfull enough."

    From their website:

*Crysis will run on both DX9 & DX10 as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista.

"A single 7800GTX will run the game quite well on fairly high settings according to Crysis Art Director, Michael Khaimzon.

Jack Mamais of Crytek said in an exclusive Crysis-Online interview that his X1900XT runs the game very well at reasonably high settings ( still unoptmized )."

  • Thank you for the precision.

  • sure no problem

  • release 29 june

  • release October

  • nooo 29 june in sweden

  • tom is gay

  • o ctm la wea bkn de juego me gusto =) ya ta nos vemos y wea windows vista y wea tmb lol

  • EA IS PUBLISHING? FUCK! There will probably be spyware, ads in game "DRINK PEPSI TO REGAIN STAMINA", and stupid stuff.

  • does it mean that the game is using DirectX 9 in second part of the video running on Windows XP?

  • That's so laggy.

  • the game is not running laggy the lags is in your eyes and brain nice vid the graphics looks great :)

  • yeah, there are not so much german games but this games are awsome

  • U say u are playing the demo version with god mode.. Where did u get the demo version?? Are u a offiial crytec worker, or did u find it on the net? If so, where?

  • piratebay

  • direct x 10? bah! I cant wait for direct x 20 :)

  • best german game ever and better graphic than every other game...

  • germans know how to make good games,I adore Gothic 3.

  • lol you can tell theyre running it on a crap system, because its lagging almost the entire time theyre playing lol

  • or maybe there is no computer(maybe the one at NASA0 wich acn runt his game without lagging,or maybe the drivers are not updated,or maybe the game isn't fully optimized.

  • looks awesome. It's gonna bully those older video cards.

  • yawn

  • next time you review a game, look at things like the modability of the engine, 16 kilometer view distance, the incredibly robust 'sandbox' editor, the skill of the AI, physics of the destructible terrain and the vehicles, intereaction of the game world

you had a shitty gamer play through the game like a dumb monkey. my 8 year old nephew could have made a better preview video. unprofessional and really does NOT get me excited for this amazing game.

  • yeh why is it when ever some one gets to play a developing game they are totaly shit at it? lol

  • Lol.. he sucks ass

  • Heh... Sometimes XP looks better :D

  • Awesome look at the game, why don't more people review stuff this way?

  • Is it really me or is the game actually lagged a little bit on this video?

  • I think what you are seeing is because i shoot the video with 24PA (24 frames a second) so and that will cause some jerkiness on fast movement and might be what you are seeing.

  • how did you guys got the game?Do you think a X6800 maybel I'll OC it to 3,2GHz,2x1GB Dominator 5-5-5-15 at 1066 MHz,Asus Striker Extreme, and a WD 150GB Raptor HDD could handle the game at @ 25 fps with no AA and AF in DX10?

  • ok, so no big differences between running the game in directx 9.0 and 10.0 ...

there goes the only reason i was getting vista for. good.

  • wow

  • love the part when he shot down the trees :)

  • EA is in charge of it? Damn that sucks =/

  • Expect a plethora of shitty expansions to be released.

  • "Crysis 2008 with better faces and one more level than the original! Buy it while waiting for Crysis 2009!"

  • EA just publish it.. think of it like how Microsoft just publish Halo.. they dont actually mess with the game, just publish it

  • Still, EA fucks everything up.

  • This game is the bomb. Viva la vista. Love the physics engine KICK ASS

  • sweet! I haven't seen a MAC do that yet.

  • Because MACs arnt for computer video game nerds

  • What are MACs for?? Hipsters and The kids that sit at the cool table?

  • sure....but i was thinking more like someone with a creative mind, but if thats how you see it then ok.

  • I can do ANYTHING you can do on a mac and more with a PC with Linux OR Windows on it. Don't believe the hype. ;) PEACE!!

  • That helicopter was a really bad shot

  • nice keyboard =)

  • they are so boring to watch, but its a nice change from frequent camera angle changes, and lame stabs at a game.

  • The graphics look so good..

  • Imagine the Lost Game running on this engine. It just needs to be done.

  • I wanna see BF2 using it

  • Oh great, multiple morons speaking at once. I'm surprised they aren't pulling each others fingers too.

  • I want it so badly...
