@724Christian Thank you! The figures came from Germany I believe but th name escapes me right now. Sorry. The majority of them came from China. Just 1/150 People for the train sets.
@BruceK10032 It was the Revell Battle of Midway carriers set. Build one of three. I used it as a 3D guide because the plans did not show some important details. It helped
@modelman44 Aha! That makes more sense. So it was the Revell kit of CV-6, packaged as a Battle of Midway set. Not the Revell kit of CV-41, USS Midway.
It's a magnificent model you did. And the video is great!
seeing this ship come to life... watching it grow from a piece of paper to earning not one, or two.. but three honors... That is something to be proud of! I loved seeing this ship in Venice on may 8th 2010 to witness it's winnings of People's choice.. and 1st for scratch built. THis is a masterful art, and this ship is the crown jewel at the moment. Well done!
Beautiful ship.. well deserving any awards bestowed upon it.. and more! We have an excellent scratchbuilder of ships in our club, he ranks in the top 10 in the world.. build mainly commissioned work for the Royal Navy.. but I don't think even he would tackle a ship like this.. :) :)
@BasicModelling Thank you very much! I would like to take my modeling skills to the next level in regards to commissioned work. This ship was three years of planning and 500 hrs of work in 3 1/2 Mos. I lived and breathed this model from October 2009 until January 2010. The awards bestowed on this model has made it all worth. Wish I couls sell it instead of donating it. Maybe your friend in the Club might have some ideas or contacts for me. Let me know.
@modelman44 If he's at the club meeting on Monday I'll ask.. :) He does his work mainly for the British Royal Navy though, at least at the moment, and I think his main contacts lies there.. but we'll see! :)
I'm speechless...True American Craftsmanship alive and well. I sometimes think I'm a good modeler until I see stuff like that. Freaking well done!

@martis2580 all but the guns. The were a product from HR products. Mostlt 1/144 scale white metal. Good stuff. The rest was all done from scratch.

It looks as though you used a plastic model kit to a much smaller scale as a guide. What kit was that?
BruceK10032 1 year ago
@BruceK10032 It was the Revell kit. Midway carriers model.

@modelman44 It was the Revell kit of Midway? Not the kit of Enterprise?
I loved this video, by the way. I particularly liked the way you did the deck planking, and I loved all those crew figures.
