I won't be asking for proof of qualifications. You're free to say you're whatever you want to say you are. As long as it isn't drenched in opinions, I'll use it. If you want to say you are a contributor to Yahoo!answers, great! Just don't try to say you're a "top contributor" cause I bet you someone else probably disagrees. (say if Jarrah tried to say that, Brant would almost certainly laugh).
@stbays Yahoo!Answers LISTS the top contributors by the number of best answers they have earned. I was the #1 contributor to the Astronomy & Space forum, but have dropped to #9 in my three years of inactivity. GeoffG is now the #1 contributor.

One thing I would mention, though: you don't know if any introduction awe130 gives you is authorized by Adrian unless, of course, awe130 and Adrian are the same person. I'll ask again.
I have no doubt that Adrian is at least a member of AWE130 and that's not really something I'm concerned with any more. I just feel like the introductions are gonna be pretty lopsided. You got you really nicely spelled out full intro and Adrian's is gonna be like two lines. I don't know how anyone will be able to take him serious if all they know about him is he's part of a moon hoax group.
My own introduction will probably go something like "Hello everyone. My name is Joseph Grutt. I've been an active member in the moon hoax debates for several years now and today I shall be moderating the debate between two well known members of this community. First:" and from there, I'll give the first either Adrian's or Brant's introduction, let whoever I pick to say a few words, then introduce the other person. After that, we get started.
It's not about praising Adrian. It's about the audience knowing why they should care about his opinions on the subject. After all, if Adrian is just a dog groomer for example, his word would probably hold less weight than say if he were an engineer or a professional photographer. I don't need to know what school he went to, but I need to know if he even went. Nor do I need to know the name of whatever company he might work for, but if he works in a relevant field.
@stbays Joe, I don't think it's really necessary for Adrian to qualify himself in that respect. It would be nice if he had some relevant qualifications, but I doubt that he does. Awe130 says Adrian did some kind of interview, (I believe), at Leeds University. I've asked about this "interview" but have gotten no answers.
However, he has to be known for *something* other than a voice and a first name in a 30 minute online debate.
Remember, you're not debating me. My job is to moderate and part of that includes the introductions. As it is, Adrian will be introduced as just himself and that he is a member of AWE130. If that's fine with you, that's what I'll go with.

Like I already said, you're not debating me and the issue I'm gonna focus on is the introductions. Fact is I have nothing else to do before the debate begins. I have no facts to research, no rules to prepare, pretty much nothing. All I can do is make sure I come across as professional and neutral, while also making both Adrian and Brant sound like they should be a part of the debates by giving the best introductions I can.

From the Apollo 8 discussion we remember you had difficulty with the word "convinced" and you kept it turning into other words that would fit you theory. I don't really care what AWE130 is since at this point the debate is between Adrian and Brant.
Brant is a retired school teacher who's focus was Astronomy and Man in Space at a 9th grade level and has been an enthusiast of Astronomy for 50 years.
Adrian on the other hand is... and that's what people are gonna be thinking about during the debate. Why they should consider Adrian worth debating Brant. It's a matter of credibility. The introduction will set the stage for it.

@stbays Thanks, Joe, I was about to ask the same question. If he doesn't think Apollo was faked, then why does he doubt that they put men on the moon? Anyway, I'll let him concentrate on an answer to your question. My guess is he will just repeat what he already said without attempting to make any distinction at all.

I'm working on a document to help me start out the debates. I'm thinking of breaking down everything into bites which I'll use to improvise the introductions off of. I'm much better doing improve than script reading (something I've never done in the past).
I'm sorry, but if Adrian wants to debate, I need a generalized list of credentials. It doesn't have to be exact. It can be as simple as "taught photography", "college educated in something", etc. What makes Adrian qualified to speak on this subject? That's how I will introduce him.

From now on, I will be addressing awe130 as "Adrian." I believe he is the person I will be debating, despite his repeated refusal to acknoweldge who Adrian is, one way or the other. His continuous self-pluralization in an attempt to disguise himself in this debate is an utterly improper and evasive tactic, but I will do the debate anyway.

When you get to the site, click "live streaming" in the panel to the left. You'll have to watch a 15 second ad.
The test recording I made today came out to only around 8 gigs. After recompressing it, I got that down to 177 megs. I'm uploading that file so everyone can see/hear it. If either Astrobrant2 or AWE130 have a problem with that, I will remove it.

I'm glad it didn't take up as much space as you thought it might. I think we were all live streaming for about 10 or 15 minutes, so the debate shouldn't be much more than abot twice as long as we were on today.

We have no problem with you uploading the test run, but it seems strange that you would like to publish a test run. We hope that we can concentrate on the debate and not on side issues that are not to important to the debate on Sunday.
As the moderator, my focus is going to be on the language used. I'm going to attempt to make certain things move in a forward direction rather than repeating questions over and over as I've seen in the past.
Also, I hope you aren't considering the introduction a "side" issue. It might not come up during the debate, but the people have a right to know what qualifies each of the debaters to take the stance they're taking. I will enforce this right.

I really don't have any problem with your site btw. It's just a web page and maybe there'll be a higher number of people who are hoax believers than a neutral site, I believe the debate will still have it's intended impact. Besides, my role is to remain neutral, so I really won't be effected by the location.
Oh ok, yeah, I can record it no matter where it streams. I can record it directly from Skype in fact using FRAPS (though I would like to do a test recording to make sure it works like I think it should). I might have to make sure to clear a few dozen gigs of hard drive space before hand, but that won't really be a problem.

The venue depends on how much work you want to do prior to the debate. If you don't mind it being recorded, then provided to everyone, skype would be the easiest, however I'm not sure if it can be done live.
Alternatively, if we want others to watch, I'd have to figure out all the details of Justin.TV It's more work, but will allow live viewing. It'll also require posting links to the three video feeds some where people will find them at.

In theory, if there's a way to route the Skype call to his own website, it should be capable of routing it through other sites as well. I'll have to find out how he's hoping to do this though. Seems he might know the program better than me.

@stbays "Adrian" and I have just connected on Skype. He is able to do the live feed through his web site. Since it works, I'm fine with it. The sound quality is excellent. The only problem is that I hear about a 4 second sound delay on my voice when talking through his live stream. I can live with that as long as I am just using Skype and not logged on to his web site.

My main concern with Adrian was put to rest with my short conversation with him. I was worried he might have an accent which would've made it hard for me to understand him. My hearing impairment always gives me trouble with people who have an accent.

For the sake of full disclosure, I'm currently not very healthy. My diabetes is causing me some major problems. I shouldn't have any problem moderating the debate should the time finally come. I just feel it should be known ahead of time.
I just got done with one of doctor's appointments and was told one of my problems is as simple as needing to stretch my tendons each morning. My second appointment is in an hour with my general practitioner.
I would like to ask that we not do this any earlier than 8am central time. I need time to wake up, do my stretches, eat breakfast and make sure my sugar levels are in the right area.

@stbays I have come to the conclusion that "Adrian" is actually awe130. I mean, really, is he going to get someone to agree to do a debate for him on the vague subject of "NASA altered photos"?
This means I will no longer criticize him for using a surrogate. I think he is pretending someone else is doing the debate so he can say, "It wasn't me."
Anyway, we'll find out in the debate, since awe130 has a very unique way of communicating.
Since he's stated he only wants this to last around 15 minutes, I don't really know what sort of debate he's really hoping to get into. Most serious debates I've heard of last about an hour and have topics preplanned.
So I think I'm gonna ask (and AWE130, you can answer this question too): What are you hoping to walk away from this with? Since there won't be a win/loss, what is your goal?
@stbays His suggestion of 15 minutes is one of the reasons I came to my conclusion. Awe130 knows he won't have much to say and is trying to limit my speaking time. So I have proposed a schedule which adds up to 26 minutes. (Let's remember, he proposed 30 minutes, earlier.)
My goal is to deal with the ambiguity of the word "alter" and awe130's use of it to make insinuations about the integrity of NASA. I also wish to make a clear distinction between NASA archives and later publications.
Is the AB vs AWE debate over? Who won and where/when can we see the results?

I have no doubt that Adrian is at least a member of AWE130 and that's not really something I'm concerned with any more. I just feel like the introductions are gonna be pretty lopsided. You got you really nicely spelled out full intro and Adrian's is gonna be like two lines. My own introduction will probably go something like "Hello everyone. My name is Joseph Grutt. I've been an active member in the moon hoax debates for several years now and today I shall be moderating the debate between two well known members of this community. First:" and from there, I'll give the first either Adrian's or Brant's introduction, let whoever I pick to say a few words, then introduce the other person. After that, we get started.

It's not about praising Adrian. It's about the audience knowing why they should care about his opinions on the subject. After all, if Adrian is just a dog groomer for example, his word would probably hold less weight than say if he were an engineer or a professional photographer. I don't need to know what school he went to, but I need to know if he even went. Nor do I need to know the name of whatever company he might work for, but if he works in a relevant field.

@stbays Joe, I don't think it's really necessary for Adrian to qualify himself in that respect. It would be nice if he had some relevant qualifications, but I doubt that he does. Awe130 says Adrian did some kind of interview, (I believe), at Leeds University. I've asked about this "interview" but have gotten no answers.
However, he has to be known for *something* other than a voice and a first name in a 30 minute online debate.

Right now, Adrian's introduction is weak and uninspiring. The audience will hear it and have little to no faith in his words as they'll assume he's simply an enthusiast. They won't know if he's got a background in any fields related to space travel or photography.
I'm begging you, don't do that to Adrian. Don't hurt his credibility. My neutrality won't be in question since I won't be including any opinions or propaganda in my opening statements.

I don't really care what AWE130 is since at this point the debate is between Adrian and Brant.
Brant is a retired school teacher who's focus was Astronomy and Man in Space at a 9th grade level and has been an enthusiast of Astronomy for 50 years.
Adrian on the other hand is... and that's what people are gonna be thinking about during the debate. Why they should consider Adrian worth debating Brant. It's a matter of credibility. The introduction will set the stage for it.

I'm sorry, but if Adrian wants to debate, I need a generalized list of credentials. It doesn't have to be exact. It can be as simple as "taught photography", "college educated in something", etc. What makes Adrian qualified to speak on this subject? That's how I will introduce him.

The debate will take place on the awe130 web site. I'll put a link to it in my description box. The time we agreed on is Sunday, Feb. 12, at 1700 GMT. (12 noon EST, 11 am CST).
When you get to the site, click "live streaming" in the panel to the left. You'll have to watch a 15 second ad.

I can record it directly from Skype in fact using FRAPS (though I would like to do a test recording to make sure it works like I think it should). I might have to make sure to clear a few dozen gigs of hard drive space before hand, but that won't really be a problem.

The venue depends on how much work you want to do prior to the debate. If you don't mind it being recorded, then provided to everyone, skype would be the easiest, however I'm not sure if it can be done live.
Alternatively, if we want others to watch, I'd have to figure out all the details of Justin.TV It's more work, but will allow live viewing. It'll also require posting links to the three video feeds some where people will find them at.

That is done by our web team. AwE130 has all licences and contracts to use this software.
But you nor a2 have to go to our website, we stay on skype. People that like to follow the conversation live go to our website.

@stbays "Adrian" and I have just connected on Skype. He is able to do the live feed through his web site. Since it works, I'm fine with it. The sound quality is excellent. The only problem is that I hear about a 4 second sound delay on my voice when talking through his live stream. I can live with that as long as I am just using Skype and not logged on to his web site.
We have discussed pictures. He said he would make a graphic on his web page for the debate. (cont'd)

@Astrobrant2 Pt 2. You and I can upload whatever graphic we want to represent us. I'll use the goose avatar with my name under it. You can send him whatever you want. If your Skype call image and name are okay with you, then you're all set. All you need is a microphone.
I have one picture I want to use in the debate. He doesn't mind. I might add more later. He has to get approval from his webmaster for any images we use. Skype can be used to upload them to him.

I think it's only fair that "we" (everyone who isn't AWE130) know who "he" (everyone who is AWE130) is.
My main concern with Adrian was put to rest with my short conversation with him. I was worried he might have an accent which would've made it hard for me to understand him. My hearing impairment always gives me trouble with people who have an accent.

I just got done with one of doctor's appointments and was told one of my problems is as simple as needing to stretch my tendons each morning. My second appointment is in an hour with my general practitioner.
I would like to ask that we not do this any earlier than 8am central time. I need time to wake up, do my stretches, eat breakfast and make sure my sugar levels are in the right area.

This means I will no longer criticize him for using a surrogate. I think he is pretending someone else is doing the debate so he can say, "It wasn't me."
Anyway, we'll find out in the debate, since awe130 has a very unique way of communicating.

Since he's stated he only wants this to last around 15 minutes, I don't really know what sort of debate he's really hoping to get into. Most serious debates I've heard of last about an hour and have topics preplanned.
So I think I'm gonna ask (and AWE130, you can answer this question too): What are you hoping to walk away from this with? Since there won't be a win/loss, what is your goal?

@stbays His suggestion of 15 minutes is one of the reasons I came to my conclusion. Awe130 knows he won't have much to say and is trying to limit my speaking time. So I have proposed a schedule which adds up to 26 minutes. (Let's remember, he proposed 30 minutes, earlier.)
My goal is to deal with the ambiguity of the word "alter" and awe130's use of it to make insinuations about the integrity of NASA. I also wish to make a clear distinction between NASA archives and later publications.
