The first part of this scene has him removing the bank robber's crew with superhuman speed. Did it ever occur to any of you that he grabbed the guy's hand before it had time to release its grip on the button?

The fact that the scene cuts to Hancock walking back to the cops with the severed hand kind of leaves it wide open to assume just that if you ask me.
