i opened a new survival world then used spc just to clear out a 300 by 300 area in the ocean onthe corner of a taiga biome, the whole floor is 5 deep across and in the middle i placed a 32x32 block of grass, flew 24 blocks a way, no spawn, flew all the way over to the main land.... animals everywhere... any ideas? was well over 100 blocks away from them in teh middle there, so they should have despawned on main land and spawned on my island shouldnt they?
