@MrISatai Yeah, I just watched an old road test of a Charger 500 from MotorTrend and their acceleration tests were all tire smoke. Now with better gription a Z06 Corvette (or even a GT500 with it's comparitively skinny tires) which makes more power and has less weight on the ass end can be made to accelerate full on with no tire smoke. Of course if you let all 500 ponies run free right away, you'll have a lot of smoke. And now there are 1-ton diesel trucks running 12sec. 1/4 miles. Strange, huh?
@MrISatai I honestly think 13 flat could be had simply with modern sports car tires. I saw 13.6 in a Mustang Forum for a stock Boss 429. What I'd love is either a Boss 429, '69 Charger RT 440, or a '70 Chevelle SS 454 set up pro touring style and get it to handle on par with one of today's better sport sedans such as a BMW M5. That would be my dream, but it would take a hell of a lot of time and money, and cutting some beautiful car all to pieces just to put her back together again.
@MrISatai I just read a Motor Trend Classic article about the Boss 'Stangs and they reported a 12.3 sec 1/4 mile for the 429. I'm thinking typo, though because that would be pretty damn fast even today.
@Muzicsallitsworth define fastest in history cause any number of new american cars are faster and the 1967 l88 corvette was way faster in many aspects than a 1970 chevelle...
@notusmc67427 its defined as production car aka a car you can buy off the showroom floor thats not a custom made short term sale car...they massed produced the SS 454 Chevelle with the th400 tranny and it was recorded as the fastest american PRODUCTION car in history...once emmisions were put on the cars after the 70's no production car was faster then the 1970 SS 454 Chevelle with th400 tranny or muncie 4 speed tranny.
@Muzicsallitsworth faster in what? fastest 1/4 mile? fastest top speed? fastest in 1970? It cannot compete with any of the new corvettes in any topic except displacement. Where was it recorded as the fastest and by who because I can`t find any one. The l88 corvette and the boss 429 were both very limited production cars that were sold to the public in just large enough quantities so there owners could race them. they weren`t made to drive on the street. The chevelle isn`t the fastest ever.
@Muzicsallitsworth i wish i knew what magazine i was reading ,,and this is years ago ..but i swear they said the 1970 mercury cyclone super spoiler was the fastest car for 1970
@Muzicsallitsworth I think the 1966 ac427 Cobra would be faster over 400m than a Chevelle....As for top end speed a 1969 Dodge Daytona.would beat it....180mph out of the showroom
What a beauty. The car is perfect, great sound from that beast of a 429 block, great paint, and a great car owner. Thanks for the video! I subscribed, please check out my mustang when you can!
@The92foxbody Yeah, & how do they not get wrecked into? I'm a great car owner too & I've never had a wreck, but many of the cars that I owned got nailed! Most of the time, in the ass. The last time was about 6 months ago, thank God for anti-whiplash head-rests! The old man hit me so hard that it broke my exhaust system too! I don't like driving around town any more. It would be really scary driving around in a Boss Mustang! I'd need a bumper-sticker saying "Hit me, then I shoot you!" LOL!
@e4300 my brother owned both, and he said he preferred the 429 better. 427 was stronger on the drag, and the 429 was faster on top end. of course, the cars where geared differently but thats just his preference..
BOSS 429, check out the other videos. A BOSS 429 is a totally different animal than any other Ford engine and has it's own very unique sound to it in all RPM ranges. You should have heard this thing SCREAM at 7,500 RPM on the road back to the museum. Insane!!!
sucks that it`s worth so much now to drive it a lot......awesome cars but worth too much.

Fuck airbags. Fuck seatbelts. If you're driving fast and you get in a horrible accident but don't die...you weren't driving fast enough.

Those were the days when NASCAR actually ran real stock cars so Ford had to build 500 of these.
