@lizardman212002 From the looks of the video, they are in a hill and the peak is not too far ahead from the accident. The guy in the car on the left should really not have been there. He was narrowing the road down to 1 lane, if he was not there, it would be at least wide enough for two cars to go astride, and the truck would likely not have hit anything. It is likely that when the trucker went over the peak of the hill, he immediatley braked and locked up.
@lizardman212002 Also there is nothing wrong with stopping to help, but there is something wrong with stopping you car in the middle of the road. He should have moved his vehicle to the same side as the accident. He was good-hearted, but a moron none the less.
I might also add that down-shifting is the last thing you do in a semi on ice. If you downshift you risk jack-knifing. Apply all your brakes and hope she holds.

Trucker should have been looking ahead and slowed prepared to stop if necessary.
Instead he must make a sudden maneuver which still caused property damage.
Surprised that camera car driver did not see it coming and evade more to the right.
Maybe would have saved trucker hitting the other vehicle.
Years ago I moved way over, allowing a truck to pass another vehicle.

I would say he is a dangerous truck driver who got lucky. Lucky he didn't kill any one or his self! obviously he was not paying attention to what was in front of him and he had to make a split second reaction that happend to be the right one!

That truck did not lost anything. Driver was going too fast but he kept cold blood at danger situation. Most people just stamps on the brakes, he did much more.
