I'm trying hard to socialize my shiba she likes other dogs but is scared of strangers. I'm not sure how to stop her from being scared. Other than that she loves me and my son

Absolutely adorable! Is it normal for the black colored ones to be more expensive? We're stationed in Japan and I wanted to get a black one (we have another shiba which is brown) and it was well over $1000 in dollars and older than mine when we first got her (4 mos old).

I find your description inaccurate, to be honest. I've heard Shiba's can be a handful and require patience. I read that unless properly socialized, they will dislike strangers AND attack other dogs and animals, ESPECIALLY cats.

I also hear these guys are escape artists and can be destructive.

Basically, I've read AND been told that these dogs are for expert trainers....so anyone who's a beginner, think twice before getting one.

@BojikArc My girlfriend has a shiba inu, and Her family doesn't have any "expertise" in dog training and it happens to be the most calm dog i've ever met.

@BojikArc i'm 15 years old, and the last time i had a dog, was about 5... So, i can't remember them well, and my parents delt with them. i got a shiba, and no one in the house trains him but me.. He's quite obediant, and if he see's anyone, he runs up to them crying for a cuddle... It is in their breed to protect their owners.. To put it in a nicer mannor than "Attack strangers and other animals" So they're basically territorial dogs.. if you socialize them from a young age, they'll be fine :)
