Por dios como os atreveis a comparar a Dream theater con metallica?
Dios no os dais cuenta de que nadie en el mundo ha sido capaz de hacer un cover decente de dream theater, esque es prácticamente imposible, en cambio hasta Avril Lavigne esa hizo un conver de metallica, esque es para reirse, arrodillaos ante los verdaderos maestros D R E A M · T H E A T E R
Cualquiera podría hacer un cóver de Hollow Years. :) Pero hay que reconocer que sería muy difícil hacer un cóver de una canción "normal" de DT, por no hablar de cuando se rayan en serio (The Dance of Eternity, Stream of Consciousness y las partes instrumentales de In the Presence of Enemies).
Desde el accidente que tuvo cuando consumió comida envenenada, la carrera de Labrie vino a menos, es una pena, hoy en día puede sacar a flote algunas rolas e incluso a tenido que reinventar su forma de cantar , pero ya le cuesta muchisimo trabajo.
y eso de q la calidad se mide en si aprendiste en garage es algo tonto haber dime si un musiko de garage hace eso.
tal ves sean buenos pero no se comparan con toda una carrera y años de estudio ademas de los conocimientos y habilidades de cada uno asi q si t gusta el metal ps q chido ami tambien pero no manches con eso de la comparacion con metallica.. osea nada q ver

Lo de metallica es simplemente una influencia como la que tienen todos los grupos conforme evolucionan los generos, el que diga que no tiene influencia de nadie, es porque en realidad son totalmente diferentes, fuera de lo natural u ordinario o incluso revolucionarios y que yo sepa nadie hasta hoy lo a logrado.
la ignorancia es ciega, y el hablar sin conocer algo minimo es estupido, te aconsejo que sepas cual es la diferencia entre conservatorio y educacion formal musical como la de berklee college school y luego tendras los elementos minimos para poder hablar con un poco mas de propiedad

Osea que la calidad del músico (que es lo que nos hace comprar un disco, seguir a un grupo...) viene determinada por el hecho de tocar en un garaje porque los garajes proporcionan feeling, y si estudias en un conservatorio, y además miras tú instrumento cuando tocas no "tienes bolas" y haces música para gente con mucho dinero y para maricas. JOder! cuanto se aprende con estos comentarios.

Yo prefiero el destroyd metal, el trash, el metal mas destructivo pero dream theater es otra cosa, son genios en lo que hacen, la manera de leer partituras de interpretarlas, pfff, lo unico que le resto merito es qeu por ser gringos ganaron mas popularidad ya que, habiendo grupos alemanes(vanden plas), o europeos de progresivo le compren mas a estos.

todos los musicos son exelentes.. lo unico deficiente es LaBrie.. tiene una voz como para power metal, no una voz que sea mas comodo para progressive :S
I have one particular question. on this live he plays a 6 strings, but on all the tabs i've read it's a seven strings. i tried to find the corrects notes on the 6 strings, but i can't, i even tried to play the 6 like a seven but of course it sounds to high. Any help ?

yo soy un gran fan de dream theater y especialmente de portnoy,porq es un excelente baterista y encima le pone toda la onda, en cambio petrucci y myung estan estaticos ni se mueven, tocan muy bien, eso no te lo discuto, pero no le ponen gracia, estan quietos.
hay formas y formas de poner gracia loco... los flacos son musicos en serio, pasa que hacen musica heavy y es medio contrastante... pero son unos grosos
si pero igual, pantera hace musica heavy, y le ponen toda la onda en el escenario, slikpnot tambien y tambien le ponen toda la onda cuando tocan, nightwish no es tan heavy, pero igual, todos le ponen onda. Dream Theater es mi grupo prefferido, me encantan, me gustan muchisimo sus canciones, pero en el esenario los unico q le ponen huevo son Portnoy y LaBrie, el resto se quedan quietos tocando nomas, tocan muy bien Petrucci, Myung y Ruddess son increibles tocando, pero en el escenario son otros
Nooo... fijate bien en el Live Scenes From New York que Petrucci le pone su onda, pasa que pensa que el flaco estudio mucho lo que es postura, tecnica, digitacion y no se que otras cosas mas (no toco la viola). y Myung tambien, los chabones agitan, mueven la cabeza y dan algo para ver... no pretendas que hagan lo mismo hacia Pantera o Nightwish porque son dos generos muy diferentes y en materia de musicos distan muchisimo, pero sabe que la rompen.
lo que pasa es que l publico es importante para una buena puesta en escena y los japoneses son como todos no se....mmmmmm sonsos jajajaja el que no este de acuerdo me puede putiar igual
lo que ocurre, imagino, es que deben de buscar mucha concentración para interpretar las canciones, que como deben darse cuenta, estan desarrolladas de la misma forma que en estudio....y no es playback
pero de todos modos la musica principalmente se escucha, es obvio que a veces dejan un poco que desear en vivo por ser algo estáticos como petrucci en el SCORE, pero se manejan de forma envidiable con los instrumentos y pocos lo hacen posible.

My band teacher had us watch Live Scenes From New York last year, then I ended up borrowing Awake from him and buying TOT and now they're one of my favorite bands.
I totally agree with ShreddaKing. I wish they would get into it more...but on the other hand, its twice as hard to play as what most other bands do. Theyre still an awesome band though!
It's just boring to go to a rock concert and there to be such a lack of movement...Obviously their stuff's a bit challenging to play but they could at least grow long hair, and bang it while their playing so they can look cool while standing there. Because no matter what people say concerts ARE about image and visuals as well as the music; that's why you SEE a band live.
i still think you're wrong but that's my opinion...i respect yours as well though since you didnt use insults... see i'm the calm kind of guy who likes rock, but not like jumping around waving long hair in all directions coz it just looks stupid to me (most of the time at least)
Your opinion doesn't matter to most of us. Maybe they don't want to move around ? Their music isn't always exactly headbanging music. LaBrie walks around and gets the crowd into it with some interaction, so shut up already.
Also, LaBrie naturally has a very high ranged voice. He'd be a high tenor for sure. I do agree though, it'd be interesting to see this sung with a Metallica-esque style vocals to this song. I think that would work very well, but I also like the current version a lot too (contrasting high vocals with heavy style instruments is cool)
To say LaBrie is a crap singer/talentless/sounds horrible is just ridiculous. He clearly has talent. In this song he hits every note and exhibits power and range (and other songs exhibit a lot more range than this one).You probably just don't like his style - that doesn't mean he is a bad singer. I think he is awesome.
On the same note (no pun intended): I HATE NSYNC, backstreet boys and the like, but respect the vocals because they clearly can sing.
For me.. Myung, Petrucci, Rudess and Portnoy are the real flavours of DT. Being progressively instrumental is wat I really like about DT. I hate the vocals as well.

that "drummer" is the great cammel mike portnoy but he`s better rthen good he was recently entered in the drunner hall of fame with the likes of the great buddy rich he is all powerfull respect "the monster"(his kit for those dream theater noobs out there) id recomend glass prison also bye now and enjoy the beats

Osea que la calidad del músico (que es lo que nos hace comprar un disco, seguir a un grupo...) viene determinada por el hecho de tocar en un garaje porque los garajes proporcionan feeling, y si estudias en un conservatorio, y además miras tú instrumento cuando tocas no "tienes bolas" y haces música para gente con mucho dinero y para maricas. JOder! cuanto se aprende con estos comentarios.

My band teacher had us watch Live Scenes From New York last year, then I ended up borrowing Awake from him and buying TOT and now they're one of my favorite bands.

It's just boring to go to a rock concert and there to be such a lack of movement...Obviously their stuff's a bit challenging to play but they could at least grow long hair, and bang it while their playing so they can look cool while standing there. Because no matter what people say concerts ARE about image and visuals as well as the music; that's why you SEE a band live.

Your opinion doesn't matter to most of us. Maybe they don't want to move around ? Their music isn't always exactly headbanging music. LaBrie walks around and gets the crowd into it with some interaction, so shut up already.

Also, LaBrie naturally has a very high ranged voice. He'd be a high tenor for sure. I do agree though, it'd be interesting to see this sung with a Metallica-esque style vocals to this song. I think that would work very well, but I also like the current version a lot too (contrasting high vocals with heavy style instruments is cool)

To say LaBrie is a crap singer/talentless/sounds horrible is just ridiculous. He clearly has talent. In this song he hits every note and exhibits power and range (and other songs exhibit a lot more range than this one).You probably just don't like his style - that doesn't mean he is a bad singer. I think he is awesome.
On the same note (no pun intended): I HATE NSYNC, backstreet boys and the like, but respect the vocals because they clearly can sing.

For me.. Myung, Petrucci, Rudess and Portnoy are the real flavours of DT. Being progressively instrumental is wat I really like about DT. I hate the vocals as well.

that "drummer" is the great cammel mike portnoy but he`s better rthen good he was recently entered in the drunner hall of fame with the likes of the great buddy rich he is all powerfull respect "the monster"(his kit for those dream theater noobs out there) id recomend glass prison also bye now and enjoy the beats
