What an amazing duo.Ventresco is astonishing on the guitar.|Another delicacy to stow away under "favourites".Without the YouTube my life would be poorer, that's for sure!
Aaaahhh - Meredith! A goddess in a mortal's string-pluckin' coil with the voice of an angel... Her vocals roll around in your ears like butterscotch lusciously caresses your tongue. But for the possession of a wife, this one could so easily fall in love with thee. So can't wait to see you perform live once again in our fair country.
I just now posted a link in the write up (more info) section that provides a list on the web page of all the recordings of Craig Ventresco including a cd with him and Meredith together. It is the last CD listed down at the bottom of the web page.
Sophie01, you can get the lyrics right here -- just listen. (Alternatively, Google the phrases "Sentimental Gentleman" and "he's got just what" together.)
Now that was amazing, now let me modulate my comment: NOW THAT WAS TRULY AMAZING. Great smile, authentic vocals and Excellent guitar work. Now thats entertainment.
Wow she's lovely, fun, and quite talented. So, Tom, do you happen to know if her rendition of this song is close to or straight from the sheet music of this tune? No one can be quite sure what the real melody might turn out to be if the only reference to the song was the Boswell Sisters, who really knew how to change a tune around!!
I do not know the answer to your question, but I suspect that this performance is very close to the original sheet music. I have heard it so many times over the years and this performance seems to conform to the standard version in my mind.
Thanks for your comment, and Yes, Meredith is a doll and a fun entertainer.

I've always loved the Isham Jones Orchestra version (from the early 1930s). I grew up with this song! Nice video work, too!!

It is "really good" because you are a very smart and discriminating person and are capable of knowing the good stuff when you see and hear it.
I think it is really good too!
Thanks for your comment.
Happy Holidays!
