@GNeuman : I've never come across this audio version, either: but I will point out one thing. I remember seeing this show in April 1980, although the single itself wasn't released until August 1980 (with "we are glass" released in June), so I reckon this was just an 'unfinished master' which he did the Kenny Everett video for, before finishing it for its August release. It sounds great!

Morrissey dances a bit like this (people did then) and Bowie toured with him knowing he was a fan.

It must be horrible to be mistreated by a guy you admire so much.

I love Numan, he fascinates me so much. And I've seen Bowie live and never been to a NUMAN concert (but hope to one day). That tells a lot IMO.

It screams Bowie all over the place. Bowie was smart to avoid it, it would be utterly embarrassing. He wasn't exactly diplomatic, but maybe he saved Gary Numan's career in that one move.

0:07 - 0:19 Definitely reminds me of the way Bowie sings and dances in the "Boys Keep Swinging" video, which was released one year prior to this. Although, I"ve read that Bowie hated Gary Numan, as evident in the lyrics to "Teenage Wildlife".

Yes, and the clothes are nearly identical to Bowie's in the Heroes video, recorded in 1977.

Bowie hated him because he thought Numan was plagiarizing him. But, many years later, Bowie recognized that Numan was responsible for some great moments in rock history.

I like Numan, I have his records from this period, they are good, but imo, he really was too Bowiesque in his perfomances....
