  • Oh, Dumbledear. We miss you.

  • No wonder this was JFK's Fav musical

  • richard harris was a charming mofo

  • I met him as well on the national tour in 1984. He was just as you said motofrescogirl. Quite charming, very clever. He was also humming "Not While Im Around" from Sweeney Todd. I had quite the school girl crush on him for decades after this. He made a brilliant Prof. Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series. Too bad he couldn't do them all.

  • Is Richard Harris the worst actor ever or what? He can't hold a candle to the great Richard Burton. He over acts every time and sings his words like a high school freshman. God, he's awful.

  • @MrTrackman100 You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Burton was one of the finest actors of his time.

  • @idinafanboi You confuse me. I LIKE Burton. It's Harris that I can't stand. Please re-read my comment. Thank you.

  • @MrTrackman100 No need to re-read your comment, it was just a typo. I like Burton but Harris is a far more skilled actor.

  • can someone tell me what is the name of this song thank you how can i get this movie complet

  • I saw Burton and Harris in "Camelot". When Burton came on stage you could feel an electricity, something special - BUT Richard Harris gave the role such heart! He is my "once and future king" Arthur.

  • This is kinda way cool!

  • 0:42 to skip the intro.

  • MAGICAL!!!!!

  • RIP Jackie Kennedy !!

  • Richard Harris will always be a legend!!! So warm, and good!

  • Yes you got twice identity.

    Manfred and Rockefeller.

    Mark my words.

Nothing between your ears and hm hm hm between your legs, but you can right about it in a silly poetry in music your like Shakespeare. Some man can hear a thousand words and they don't open a gate of understanding in the mind. Some person only need to hear on, and all the gates in the world opens. Its common psychological knowledge. As where there is no meaning it gives no meaning to feel about it. They are all idiots ! And .

  • Love this!

  • 10 people here don't think there's a more congenial spot for happy ever aftering than here in Camelot.

  • My favorite Arthur. Loved the movie..great to see this clip!!

  • No doubt Richard Harris did it best.

  • Richard Harris was by far the #1 Arthur of all time!

  • OH I am sooo glad someone put this up here, my Grandmother has a cd and this is on it, and iwanted to find it on here soo badly LOL

    THANK YOU!!

  • Equitable -- equines on the table. Wild mustangs -- pets or meat. MEAT! declares the animal haters of Washington D.C. "I've got Jews at my table," said Jack Nicholson in the movie As Good As It Gets. O.J. Simpson's nickname -- Juice.

  • I Love this movie Camelot! Richard Harris is Fantastic! I Love that I can see this again. Thank You.

  • Sometimes you have to read in between the lines to know when a love song is about loving nature. This is one of the few songs that screams out loud I appreciate my blip of time on this planet.

  • Richard Backus was wonderful as Mordred in this version! I was lucky enough to meet him at the L.A. Zoo one day and he was very sweet and unassuming. This is by far my favorite version of Camelot.

  • Meg Bussert is my acting teacher! I totally didn't realize this was her.. fantastic

  • I love Richard Harris -- I saw him on stage in Camelot twice in the 80's and loved it. He was great. He told some funny stories about him and Peter O'Toole, and also Richard Burton. I would have loved to hang around with those guys, I bet it was anything but boring!

  • well all are welcome to their opinion. I loved Harris and his beautifufl eyes and this Irish boldness he desplayed in his acting. If he couldn't sing for shit how come he sold so manyh copies of his albums and his movies. Wish I couldn;t sing for shit and had the same income.!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way he also had brains to buy the copyrights to Camelot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which made him MONEY1

  • @JuanMacready actually it was a really good musical you obviously dont kno any history behind it to actually appreciate it

  • I watched this & found it hard to keep my eyes from watering. Camelot...I wish.

  • Maravillosas interpretaciones. Fea caracterización física y poco favorable vestuario de Richard Harris. El tempo de la música, tan dinámico, es muy vibrante.

  • thanks for this...

  • i have his autograph and the original record. My dad drank with Dickie Harris.'Tis no wonder I love Camelot!! Great to meet his fans on line.

  • Vonlossberg, this is all available on CD and disc if you want to hear it or see it. I have both.

  • Dear all with comments. Richard Harris had a Limerick charm to him, a wit of a typical Irishman and there will only be one Richard Harris and only one King Arthur and that's Harris. One would have to give grace to Burton but Harris makes every woman that has seen Camelot fall in love with him. As to his voice, he made great recordings. As far as I'm aware, some of the other voices in the movie "may have been dubbed".

  • @hennyjess They should have dubbed Harris since he couldn't sing for shit. Plus he was as ugly as sin even with the wig and make up.

  • I saw Richard Harris in Camelot in Kansas City back in the early 1980s. My first time at the theater. Absolutely mesmerizing. There is nothing like a live performance regardless of who you might prefer as King Arthur.

  • Richard Harris is my favorite King Arthur. Wish they had the movie version of this song!

  • I find the movie much more interesting.

I think that Richard sings much better in the movie and he looks very attractive.

He was a good actor but not the best of singers, however, in "MacArthur Park"...he excells !

  • Burtons performance was never really captured as was Harris'. I wouldn't judge who was better unless one saw both.

  • Neither could sing for shit.

  • T_T We need weather laws like these.

  • We just finished reading 'King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table' in school. Now we are watching 'Camelot'. It's great! :)

  • I first saw this musical when I bought it from itunes yesterday and I love it.I knew I would, I love musicals, I love the legend of King Arthur and I love the midevial ages.

  • I was in the pit for this production and it was amazing!! Richard would constantly improvise scenes and would always be up to some mischief....however when he closed the 1st act it always brought chills down my spine...he was amazing. Rest in peace.

  • A bad wig.

  • There will always be 'something' magical about Richar Harris......nor will there ever be another to be in Camelot....

  • RIP to this legend who died exactly 7 years ago on this day, 25th October. Richard Saint John Harris 1930 - 2002 we will honor you today sir by getting FUCKING SMASHED TO HELL WITH BOOZE!!! people in Ireland and all over the world who loved ya will honor you this day sir, to your life! cheers!!

  • Do you really think he will read what you wrote?

  • dont be stupid, its not about him reading it, its about remembering him and letting others know what a good guy he was.

  • I 'miss' richard each time I play his music....what a wonderful actor....God love the Irish......

  • He's so amazing, but they really always made him look strange for this role.

  • Psht. It's only a model.

  • RH = Legend

  • wonderful, classic thespianism !

  • From the words of JFK: "Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot. For one brief shining moment that was known as Camelot."

  • enjoyed it, good!!

  • I LOVE this musical! But- WHY did they make him wear that wig??!!!

  • He is not that is his hair long.

  • Frankly (having seen him perform this in Seattle a couple of years before he died), it's because he was so old that he could not possibly be mistaken for a *young* King Arthur, as was the character in this particular scene. Don't get me wrong - I admire and respect the man and felt privileged to have seen him. But when I did, he was old and tired and it showed. The wig was intended to portray a "boyish" King Arthur.

  • I was fortunate to see him when he could still seem to be a boy. By chance I ran into him at the stage door waiting for his limo. We talked for about 20 minutes. I was 13 and we talked chivalry and the ethics of right vs might and the likelihood of petty knights agreeing to disarm to champion this cause. Not only was he gracious but he knew his history and mythology, He was perfectly charming and appeared to be content to converse on these topics with me. A perfect gentleman

  • @motofrescogirl Wow! That must have been awesome.

  • @motofrescogirl My mom and I went when I was a teen, and then I went to summer camp, and she went back to see him several more times. And, interestingly, she also waited and saw the limo, and spoke with him for several minutes!

  • I am so glad this has now been issued on DVD on Amazon. Hope to get a copy soon.

  • My Uncle is playing King Arthur in Camelot this week.

  • Absolutely beautiful! I get the honor this year to do Richard Harris proud. As i star as King Arthur in my highschool's production of Camelot. By far my favorite musical

  • BRAVO !!!!!!!!

  • MEG IS WONDERFUL !!!

  • While I'm a big Richard Burton fan, as far as I am concerned, Richard Harris IS King Arthur. He made the role shine.

  • The tune is so cute :)

  • fyi.... *(thanks first for posting this clip. I loved this version) The hum your getting is from the michrophone your using to record the shound from your monitor is to close to the speker. (of course I chould be wrong. but just thought I'd offer a suggestion.) Great clip though. Thanks!

  • :) this song makes me happy.

  • R.I.P. Richard Harris...

  • In the original movie..Richard Harris was wonderful(Phil's wife) ...need to see the old movie...to appreciate him

  • Burton was better. Harris is HAM BONE THEATER. I saw him in boston, he appeared stone cold drunk and was boo'd off the stage

  • When you saw him, he was probably well-advanced in his fatal case of Hodgkin's Disease. I saw him in "Camelot" in Seattle a year or two before his death, and he was looking pretty ragged, but he still carried it off.

  • I saw Richard Harris do this play live a while back (10 years ago, maybe?) He was truly amazing.

  • I firmly believe that Harris was a better Arthur than Burton. He just had an aura about him that made him a fantastic Arthur. That isn't to say Burton wasn't good... I just feel Harris was the model Arthur, and the man I will always think of first when I have an image of Arthur.

  • Having listened to both I think Burton had the better singing voice. However, Harris simply exudes more personality into the role and fits the overall character much better. Burton seemed a bit overly formal and firm when the Arthur role called for a more jovial characterization.

  • That is exactly how I feel! :)

  • burton was a close second. he just could not match harris, could he ? but i must say thay both where very good.

  • decent but harris is much better in the movie based on this musical.

  • Am I the only one that prefers Richard Harris' Arthur to Burton's? I think he has a far superior singing voice, and was the only good thing about the movie version.

  • If forced to rate two great performances, I'd have to pick Harris's over Burton's as well, for his singing AND for his acting. Yes, he was probably the only good thing about the movie version, but he was so very very good a thing in it that he manages to make the film still memorable for me. Vanessa, who has been so worthy of so many other film rolls was tragically miscast, and managed a weak Guenevere. Yes, I'd rather have seen Andrews in the role too.

  • Would you believe I went to see Burton in person for Camelot the first time I took my son to opera. Burton was ill (died soon after) and Harris, his second; stood in. I was thrilled with the surprise of my life. Harris was better than Burton. In person. Still I love them both.

This was my intro to opera to my little son who was 2 at the time. He sat still for the entire play. What a guy.

  • @eemmeennddeell

    No, I'm with you.

I love Richard Harris as King Author the Best!!!!

  • @eemmeennddeell No, I agree with you. Richard Harris is far superior. When he gives his monologue at the end of act one, he gives me chills. It brings tears to my eyes. However, I disagree that it's the only good thing about the movie. I actually think that both Redgrave and Nero give exceptional ACTING performances, they breathj mush nore life into their characters, though of course Dame Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet have far better singing voices. No doubt.

  • @eemmeennddeell Do you know how incredibly lucky we are to have gotten the chance to live on Earth during the minute time allotted for the human species? I mean what are the odds that we would be born during the teensy interlude, a few thousand years, when humans can survive the climate here?

  • @eemmeennddeell Harris was the better sing, of course. Burton was the better actor....of course.

  • @eemmeennddeell i was very fortunate to c him on stage and i agree withu 100%

  • @eemmeennddeell I agree whole-heartedly. Only wish he & Julie Andrews would have done the film! Meg Bussert was a lovely Guienivere!

  • @eemmeennddeell I have to disagree. At least in this performance, Richard Harris is not only off on his timing but is also off key at several points! Richard Burton, on the other hand, is spot on in both the key and the timing and in addition, has a clearer, crisper voice. I much prefer Mr Burton's version.

  • @eemmeennddeell NO, YOU ARE NOT ALONE--HE WAS THE PERFECT ARTHUR!

  • He's ok but I prefer Richard Burton and Julie Andrews in the parts. In fact I wish they would have been in the film version instead. That would have been fantastic.

  • I love his "it's true" at the end!

  • Wow! What a sexxxxxxxy man he was. The perfect King Arthur! No one else came close.

  • Harris was such a glorious ham, with such a wonderful voice.

Is there video of the last scene, from the movie perhaps, "Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot...

  • for one brief, shining moment that was known as camelot

  • I've heard the film called a chick flick. If that be so, then, here and now, pronounce me an honorary chick! "Each evening, from December to December, Before you drift to sleep upon your cot, Think back on all the tales that you remember Of Camelot. Ask ev'ry person if he's heard the story, And tell it strong and clear if he has not, That once there was a fleeting wisp of glory Called Camelot. Camelot! Camelot!" Now say it out with pride and joy!
  • I'm not gunna lie, I've never actually seen the film

I only know that line because

it was JFK's favorite lyric of his favorite song, and i guess it stuck in my head because it was catchy.

    I'm sure it's a great film though

  • Thank you for the pure magic of

    Richard Harris.

  • he was an amazing king arthur!! but i liked vanessa redgrave better- more attitude

  • Oh Richard was the greatest. I would suggest that everyone try to hear or watch anything about him...he had a great attitude on life and was a great talent.

  • i agree. he was the most jovial of guests on late night with letterman. man, he was one funny guy, and always had the best stories about him and richard burton and peter o'toole.

  • He lived an INTERESTING life, you have to say that, but he gave a lot. I loved him talking about how he took the part in HARRY POTTER because his then 9 yo granddaughter said "Oh, Grandfather, you MUST, because I love the book and you are meant for the part." So he did it for her.

  • great acting espcially in Trial and Escape

  • can u upload c est moi

  • when was this made

  • Did you know that Richard Harris played Dumbledore in Harry Potter until he died? Its True! Its True!

  • I promise, i promise!

  • Everybody knows that. At least, everyone who's not dumb.

  • I am so happy to see his again....can't wait to show my children....He kissed my right cheek and signed my program.....I walked on cloud nine for weeks:)

  • How blest am I??

I saw Richard Harris on stage in London-Camelot back in the mid 80's.

One time he phubbed his Lines : good naturedly turned to the Audience ...smiled That mischievous, sexy grin and adlib'd...

    we all LOL!!!

    Thanks a Million for this!!

  • my favourite song is 'how to handle a woman' anyone got that?

  • Yes - have a look.

  • the man

    richard harris

  • Oh, to see this again! Thank you thank you thank you!! I remember watching this over and over and OVER again on HBO. My mother had the 33RPM (or gosh, was it a 78?) of the Julie Andrews/Robert Goulet recording, and I had listened to that a million times before ever seeing the play itself. Oh, did I say THANK YOU???!!!

  • Richard Harris aka Prof. Dumbledore :D

  • wow, i didnt know richard harris did it on the stage too!!! i <3 him. ^_____^ you say amazon sells broadway version on dvd now??

  • THIS is my Camelot, too. Absolutely perfect casting. Pretty please... (yes, I am begging)... post Richard Muenz someday, too. I love his voice. Thank You so much for posting these gems. I watch them all the time.

  • Amazon has this on DVD now!

  • Wow, I knew Richard Burton did it with Julie Andrews on the original Broadway, and that Richard Harris did it in the movie with Vanessa Redgrave, but I didn't know he did it on stage.

Thank you very much for posting this!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I never saw any other version than the one with Vanessa Redgrave and him on Video/DVD. I always wondered what the Broadway version might have looked and sounded like.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I had this show on Beta for years, but my beta VCR finally bit the dust, and a well-meaning roomate threw away all of my beta tapes. I have been looking for this for over ten years now. This is the Camelot that I first knew - HBO played this one, and so it is the real Camelot for me. Thanks for the memory.

  • Wow! I thought I was the only one who was first introduced to this show through the HBO special. My parents taped it on Beta and my sister and I used to watch it CONSTANTLY. I wish I had a working Betamax so I could see it again in its entirety.

  • Has this been disabled by YouTube? It doesn't work for me now. It used to.

  • what tape is this?

    where can i get it?

  • he was a great singer

  • During this production, I met Richard Harris; he could no longer drink because of his illness(Hypoglocema)..he was known for being a great storyteller on talkshows...although he looked frail the following night, despite the blonde hair, he rocked "In Camelot"

  • I remember this video...it was my first time hearing Camelot...thanks for posting this!

  • What a legend. Great performance.

  • Richard Harris looks like he's about ready for a nap!

  • I'm performing this Musical at my school. I now, thank you very much. have this song stuck in my head... :( :)

  • Lou Diamond Philips is a pale imitation of Richard Harris - and Richard Harris was a pale imitation of Richard Burton.

  • Richard Harris is the best Arthur Camelot has ever or ever will see.

  • It's dumbledor! lol

  • Met Harriss' bro in a pub. My mate said, 'This is Richard Harrirs bro, John'

His bro went wild. 'Don't ever introduce me as his brother again! Terry went silent. He knew I liked Ricadrd Harris, but that is not the whay to get on.

  • I just got home from seeing Camelot in San Diego with Lou Diamond Phillips, he was very good but not Richard. I've never actually seen this performance, and it was brilliant! Great way to end a Camelot filled day! ^^

  • OH MY GOD!!! I just got home, and I feel the same way! Although, I wasn't crazy about Lou's singing.

  • I have not seen this in years and its one of my favorite versions of Camelot. I am also looking for the segment of "follow me" from the same performance. Anyone have it??

  • I am looking for that too! It had some fabulus Laser effects in it. Did you get it??? Do you have it ?? Or know where it can be found????

  • Its funny, I 've watched the video of this performance and the movie. Richard is so much better in this stage version than the movie. Its like night and day. I guess some actors are better on the stage than on the screen.

  • i like this song...we sung it in choir--except the kids didnt appreciate it like i did..they wanted to cut parts out which pissed me off

  • I was lucky enough to see this tour with Mr. Harris in the late 80s. This has always been my favorite musical. We miss you, Mr. Harris.

  • Nice play.. not accurate to history for there was no such a world but still interesting.

  • I love the movie and the play!!

  • i watch the film of this. i want those four hours of my life back!

  • check out shannon stoeke as mordred and eric anderson as merlyn on their youtube videos. They are on the Camelot National Tour.

  • I was priviledged to serve Mr. Harris breakfast on a number of occassions in his private suite in the Summer of 2001. At that time, he was in frequent travel between NYC and the U.K> filming the 2nd Harry Potter film. He consented to the role at the insistence of his grand-daughter who loves Rowling's books!

  • richard harris did an amzing job with this scene..

    i love this show!

  • Are there any vids of the movie Camelot with Richard Harris and Venessa Redgrave?

  • Yes, look at half dot com. I have it. I saw these two at the Orpheum in Memphis...awesome.

  • Awesome..thanks

  • I saw this tour with Mr Harris in Oklahoma City. It was splendid. I grew up on the sound tracks and the Hollywood version. It was great to see it live. We shall all miss Richerd.

  • I miss Richard Harris. :( I liked Richard Burton in the role, too, but NOBODY has ever done King Arthur as well as Richard Harris.

    *personal opinion only*

  • I love this verison. I grew up on this! THX!

  • I have been looking for this to come out for years. Finally I can get my own "real" copy. I wore my VHS out

  • Its comming out on DVD on the first of may

  • My favorite Camelot version. Why can't this be on dvd???

  • it was just released on DVD in the lusty month of May

  • Look it's Dumbledore!

  • I LOVE Richard Harris' version of the song. But I hate how it's been sped up. Fuck Richard Burton (imo), Richard Harris made you *feel* for Arthur.

  • "Fuck" Richard Burton? by writing that YOU just show yourself up.

  • Sorry, but Richard Harris played it as if it was ONE BIG SHAKESPEARE PERFORMANCE. ... That's not what it is, okay?

  • Richard Burton*... Didn't know where that came from.

  • I have wanted to see this on stage since I saw the film version. Now I can't decide which I like better!

  • Acorn Media is releasing this on DVD. Early May 2007.

  • Bless You! You have made a lot of Camelot fans happy!

  • I went to the Acorn Catalog online. And it is available now! I just got my copy yesterday. Thank you so much for telling me about this!!!

  • Just saw the play with Michael York who did a fine job. I saw Richard Harris in it twice and this clip brought back fond memories. Would love to find a copy of the complete tape. Thanks for posting the clip!

  • OMG -- where can I find a copy of this?? I saw this production live in Boston back in the early 80's, but didn't have a VCR yet when HBO showed it. I've been looking for a copy for YEARS!
