  • I just saw something so amazing that it almost makes me cry :')

  • He sounds like a modern-day teenager when he speaks! ;D

  • Chris began singing REALLY good live in 2002, but I have a soft spot for his un-aged voice too :-)

  • If you watch a performance of yellow form 2011 it's a freaking show :p this isn't even near a show ;x Awesome song anyway :D

  • Man, wish I was that girl at 2.04. Also, I love how EVERY MEMBER looks so much better now than back then, despite having aged 11 years.

  • I remember watching this at the time! Crazy! Bet they didn't realise how big they'd get......

  • Love it. Listening it every few hours, everyday.

  • they looks like a band of university boys

  • @legolas1601 they was university boys :)

  • you know i never realised of how much coldplay can merge with your happy life memories. thank you coldplay, for looking up to people like you :)

  • en sus inicios yeah!

  • OMG.... even when they used to be amateurs they sound great...!

  • wow ! que lejos se puede llegar...me inspiran ♥

  • Watch this video then watch the video of them performing yellow at glastonbury in 2011.. this band has deserved every success they have got. they have come so far and have so much more left to give :)

  • Jonny looked so shy on stage back then. and Chris is just good at predicting their future. Yes, people sing along to yellow now.

  • Noticed Will's talking to someone at 2:08 ?? Hahahaha HOW MANY THINGS CAN THIS MAN DO SIMULTANEOUSLY?

  • @stelakoul talking and playing the drums isnt exactly a difficult task

  • @stelakoul well have you ever been in a situtation like this? playing an instrument you haven't even practised, talking and singing at the same time, in such a huge gig? I figure no!

  • @stelakoul That's what the good drummer should do, nevertheless... Will is a legend :)

  • omg, his accent here so adorable .. pure British .. he has lost it

  • Wow compare this performance to their performance of yellow at Glastonbury 2011. Wow, im so old.

  • I can't believe that is Coldplay!

  • Is it me or has he become more well spoken in the past 10 years

  • @greenays and has a better dress sense lol !!!

  • stop kissing mic pls it looks ****.

  • Its impressive that, in 2 years, coldplay went from having a morning slot on the other stage to headlining the pyramid stage!

  • also, that drummer has a shocking technique... he moves his whole arm... and Chris' vocals have gotten so much better over the years.

  • @lphaserl he'd learned drums only for coldplay.

  • @lphaserl ahh well. the drummers cool. he doesn't even own a drum kit :D

  • What's up with his cockney geezer accent? I swear he doesn't speak like that any more?

    x

  • what stage was this?

  • thumbs up for the guy who mistake in the sec 4:18, he say "everyting" and the correct form is: "and all the things" lol

  • 1:07 all those people walking around in the background probably buying beer have no idea that the world's next biggest band is playing in front of them!!!! LOL

  • love looking back at bands before they were main stream.. not that Coldplay weren't here :D

  • hahaha 11 years ago

    i love it xD

  • he speaks with a much thicker working class accent earlier on compared to now it's kind of funny to compare the two

  • Love it

  • he looks like mark zuckerberg

  • I've never seen Chris Martin sing out of pitch ... but now I have !

  • hahaha Will Champion looks the funnniest !! thumbs up if you agree !

  • jonny buckland has come on so much as a guitarist, watch the newer videos of them live, he just lifts the entire song every time he starts playing. amazing performer

  • over 10 years later an it still makes me cry

  • Coldplay this is the future speaking.... in 10 years you will be multi million album selling millonaires, chris you are going to marry a famous actress called gweneth paltrow and have two kids, you will travel the world as one of the most famous bands of the first decade of the 21st century.

  • 2:07 drummer casually speaking :)

  • ah... back to the good old days.

  • so yung, but the same love :3

  • so yung, but the same love :3

  • they must be more excited to sing these songs for the first time in public than steve jobs introducing the first iphone!

  • Oh, Coldplay of 2000, if you only knew...

  • 0:02 - 0:05 i think that he is prophet :)

  • Comment removed

  • It's Great to see how Johnny is nervous at 1:55 .

Today he is playing so differint !

  • I ♥ Coldplay...!

  • will = chubs

  • i must say oasis is best british band....!!!!!

  • @nasrosicky no you mustn't, not only because they're not, but because it's pointless provoking arguments and controversy for no reason - just enjoy the video, you might realise that it's actually quite good.

  • Idk if the acoustic guitar was actually live. everything sounded like it was being played for real except for the acoustic guitar. it sounds a little who perfect like how it would on recording. i might be wrong and im not hatin on coldplay cuz i love this song, im just saying i think they played the acoustic guitar from something they recorded

  • @CanadianBeaver2 Nah, I highly doubt that. It's easy to play like that live, nothing special about it.

  • @PointZero2011 actually there is. if you know how to play this song on acoustic guitar than you would know that is has a lot of different kinds of chords that are difficult to play all of them cleanly. and i know they wrote the song so they are obviously better than me at playing it but i just dont see every chord throughout the entire song played perfectly clean

  • did he say it's called Yellowless?

  • @cbarrett34 Yellow, this!

  • It would be really sad if Coldplay broke up.

  • @jayflies737 Dont say that! They're one of my favorite bands and if we loose them the world will be a sadder place.

  • @RansakedBassist Yea I agree with you

  • DUDE!!!!! the band look so young

  • mind, grenade

  • fantastic song from Coldplay.. even better live... apparently Chris Martin was looking for a title for the song and he saw the Yellow Pages.. inspirational!!!

  • 0:21 Lolz HE walks LIKE A CHRISASAURUS REX

    ...rawrr

  • Already in this early stage of the band guy berryman is barely filmed at gigs. WHY? I think I am going to post that question on the oracle right now:P

  • @eline639 It's either because he's the bass player and bass players in general don't physically move that much on stage, so it's not that interesting to be filmed, or it's because his handsomeness was too heavy to be caught on film.

  • @Lucii1293 I think the second option:P haha

  • Oh my God I love them! The world almost didn't even know they existed by then. I did knew them and loved them since the beginning! :')

  • thanx for the link oracle!

  • Que buena cancion!!

  • I saw them live in Rio =) it was brilliant !

  • Wow. They look so young. And a lot of people. Coldplay has changed throughout the years. They are beccoming better and better.

  • This is an excellent performance..I thoroughly enjoyed it, and considering mu older age you have to take it as a extra ordinary compliment. Coldplay, better still the song "Yellow", Is not your typical love song. I'd have to say that it's much in the same lines as Baby Blue by the Dave Mathews Band. Chris Martin, the lead singer has quite the accent, Scotch I would believe and it's still ever so prevelent even as he's singing Yellow, I love it! Thankyou from a fan in Vancouver Canada.

  • I haven't done any research on Coldplay, but the lead singer has a strong accent....either Scotch or Irish, I'm sure it's not Australian...I'll say Scotch. I really dig this song "Yellow"!! I enjoy listening to his singing, the accent is still prevelent, tho not as much. I'm sure I know what he's singing about, but in the end it's all yellow...I really like the music to go along with that voice of Chris Martin. I assume the song is of the positive nature, and it rates great.

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ There is only one Scottish bloke in the band, and that's the bassplayer, Guy.

  • Am I the only one who hears Will @ 2:11 saying "I can't hear anything".. You have to listen really hard but I swear it's there.

  • @meuxmoney Well i didn't hear it, but i saw him mouth it

  • @meuxmoney yeah, it's there! I saw it too, and I was like "damn, there's something wrong!"

  • me hice caca

  • i love watching this and then watching coldpaly live in japan from 2009. what an amazing band

  • That mic is wayyyyyy too high for Chris!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love chris moves hehe

  • I wish Martin used his lower register more often, like he did at 2:48 , its just got such a great timbre. But hell i guess if he used it more often it wouldn't be that special right?

Coldplay's an amazing band, one of a few bands whose fans don't care what others say, and just appreciate the music.

  • @yws1991 he uses it alot in their last album. Personally i dont like it.

  • This is such an amazing song <33

I like to see that they are so young and that Chris said this:

"I hope that next year you sing '

And in 2002 they all sang along, great <33

  • I was there, and certainly wasn't just "walking by to get a beer". They were already pretty well known on the UK Indie/student scene at this point. They must have been because only 2 weeks after this performace, 'Yellow' went straight into the UK charts at number 4.

Have to say that I've since gone right off them. They're just too bloated sounding and over produced these days, far too much like U2 for my liking. However Parachutes remains a fantastic record!

  • I love Chris and the band!

  • 2:09

what s up with will ??

  • he's talking

  • yes.. but he looks angry

  • he is telling a tech guy something...

  • i was stopped in my tracks by this song on my way to the beer tent, so glad i did, they returned 2 years later a polished monster

  • I kind of miss their independent era. They're still great, but they're sound has changed quite a bit.

  • they look so young lawl especially the drummer

  • awe this makes me believe in magic

  • oh ya, Coldplay at birth - wish I'd been there :)

  • He knew it will be a hit :P

    This song is awesome :D

They are so young there :O

  • no fireworks, no lasers, no stage effects at all...just pure talent

  • Signing along next year : ) check the yellow live of T in the park 2001, he was certainly right. Watch it epic performance!

  • 2:06 is the scene ... lol

  • why the mic so high ? :)

  • he said thet everybody will sing along this song the next year..and if you watch the video on glastonbury 2002 they will..lol

  • @PaolinoChannel91bao 2002 was 2 years later.

  • Lol will was talking to someone while playing the song

  • @xonars Just a day on work for these guys :P =)

  • I couldnt get the last word... Its gonna be a hit and its called (goes really low) Yellow, then he says something, what?

  • he says this

  • its called yellow this

  • it's weird how it'll be a hit and it turned out to be a hit

  • lol they were a bit more chubby back then haha (:

  • lol will was big back then

  • the song and the band were new

  • its called yellow this. HAHAH AWESOME CHRIS IS SO FUNNY! LOOK @ HIM @ 0:22!!!

  • I have to disagree...I have heard this live and it sounds just fine to me...although I found on You Tube a kickoff party to Parchutes where all the early stuff sounds nearly exactly like the album...its sweet.

  • This is my favorite song by them!

  • It's funny what he says in the beggining because if you go and look at this same concert in 2002 in the related videos, he dosen't even sing the first verse... the crowd does.

  • It was quite funny to hear him say that, but he was right! Luckily he was, so we still can enjoy from their music :)

  • yessss,he still remembered his words :)

  • this song is weird when i first heard it a long time ago....but it is a great song

  • they look so young

  • no he just looks really different

  • I like watch their, when they were young ;p

  • they were boys then...and it's kinda werid that this song went without big singalong...

  • i know! its so weird not hearing the crowd sing in the background.. in two years they had every1 in the crowd singing their songs

  • They look Jubilant

  • This song is just brilliant!!

  • Little did any of those people in the walking by to buy beer, food ,etc. because a lesser known band was playing know that in the background was a band about to be one of the biggest bands in the world playing one of the most popular songs in the world. Its just weird to think about sometimes.

  • I know just what you mean..lol

  • Ohh they look so young. =]

  • I love chris here, in 2000 he sing's so good in live. I still love their music, but chris sings less good and he also looks like he has a hell lot of trouble to sing lately

    but still

    OMFG COLDPLAY RULES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its called making dialogue with the audience. His not saying it in arrogance, more of having a laugh genius. The irony is it actually came true.

  • I think that you take it serious.. if you would be on the market, having a melon stand, and a little further there's another one were a guy is screaming: WONDERFULL TASTEFULL MELONS HERE, VERY CHEAP. People wouldn't go first to your stand... It's called selling what you make or do

  • this is the music industry not the fruit industry. Coldplay's label promotes themselves enough. No need to brag about how big they are.

  • ehh it's easy to compare the fruit and music market u just don't know how to promote something omfg..

  • Don't know how to promote bands? I do a lot better than you do. I talk to labels and help make podcasts that promote good underground punk music. The guy who I work with, look him up on youtube or itunes: punkcdsampler.

  • sure ddude

  • what coldplay are the nicest guys ever and they are not concided at all plus there not releasing a greatest hits cd

  • They already did.

  • florianley its actually Jonny Buckland not Johnny hes my cousin :D i love their music and always havee woo i have coldplay blood in me thats pretty cool - do any of you guys want free CDs :D:D love them

  • U lucky bustard!!!

  • Wow Chris's Deep Cockney accent here.

  • i rember watching this

  • Beautiful :)

  • wdf chris sounds so diffrent

  • Is that Jonny on main guitar, doesn't look like him. Is it just me or was he a replacement?

  • Of course it's Johnny :D

  • Thx, looks different as a blonde.

  • classic , they look so geeky :D

  • Hey, geeky is good!! And don't they STILL look, act and seem a little awkward/geeky. If Chris's dancing recently has been anything to go by I don't think much has changed in that department :D

  • Well, my quess is that a bigger band will play after em?

  • A huge crowd.....sounds about right because Glasto 2000 saw and had the most festivals goers ever seen because up to 25,000 people gatecrashed and broke in. I was there and you just couldn't move.

  • It's such a huge crowd, and they only use small combo amps?! Strange :p

  • this is AWSOME live!

  • haha they're just little babys here!

  • He predicts the futre pretty accuratley mr. martin.

  • lol i like scene with Will at 2:08

  • TUNE

  • they seem to be from the movie 'superbad' LOL

    so young and fat!

  • Fat?

  • When bands are new onthe big scene they always preform so damn good. Coldplay never lay like this anymore. Martin is somuch better like this. Simple, cool, funny, ironic, you name it. When played like this, one of the best songs in the world. People will look at this and the viva la vida like GNR's Appetite and UYI era. No symphony or chour can sound as good as honest music from a hungry band.

  • You're so Right!

  • man.... i prefer them in their earlier incarnation....

chris always at that piano/keyboard is annoying!!

    nice and simple :)
