The biggest weakness of Freddy that is destroying him is his upper body strength. If Freddy lifted more weights he would be PERFECT. I remember watching him at the DC United games and how easily he got shoved off the ball.
I am not walking about weight. I am talking about muscle, he needs to gain more muscle, not weight. If you gain muscle you don't become slower unless you make yourself HUGE like one of those freak body builders.

I had hoped the manager would put him as a sub this year, but it seems it was not in his plans..

Benfica should have never stopped playing Adu at the 19th Appearance because of the 20th Appeance clause in original contract that would have given MLS $4 Million extra. Since then it has been troubling for Adu with the Club level. Benfica should buy Adu a present.
They haven't noticed him yet. I hope he improves a little more this year and next the coach will use him as a sub, some more years and he'll become first. He has so much potential.

The biggest weakness of Freddy that is destroying him is his upper body strength. If Freddy lifted more weights he would be PERFECT. I remember watching him at the DC United games and how easily he got shoved off the ball.

I am not walking about weight. I am talking about muscle, he needs to gain more muscle, not weight. If you gain muscle you don't become slower unless you make yourself HUGE like one of those freak body builders.

neji is right, though you are also right. he does need more strength, but putting on upper body weight will not help much.
he has to tone his body in the right way to meet the challenge.
look at torres and van persie, both very slight but oooh so strong on the ball.

Right now, he doenst play. When he came he didnt have enough level to play in Benfica. So they loaned him for him to play first team football and improove.
I had hoped the manager would put him as a sub this year, but it seems it was not in his plans..
Maybe next year.. Adu seems a great player with a lot of potential..

Benfica should have never stopped playing Adu at the 19th Appearance because of the 20th Appeance clause in original contract that would have given MLS $4 Million extra. Since then it has been troubling for Adu with the Club level. Benfica should buy Adu a present.

Estas contratações q o benfica fez Patric, Shaffer acho q eram desnecessárias é assim podem de facto ser uns fora de serie ñ sei .. mas acho q o slb tinha alternativas para o maxi e j.ribeiro q é o exemplo do pedro correia (participou no torneio no dubai) e o sepsi! Tantos jogadores bons que o benfica teve ou têm que simplesmente não os sabem gerir. Havia também de haver
crise no mundo do futebol para ganharem consciencia e não gastarem quantias exorbitantes e absurdas em transferencias de jogadores. É preciso uma organizaçao do futebol mais racinalizada e sustentabilizada.
