  • 전형적인 조센징 얼굴.. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  • HELLO KITTY IN THE BACK! Lmfao

  • So you can only speak English? If so, I'm chinese and I'm the same due to my parents being busy a lot so I was around a lot of English babysitters. I don't really know or have met many asians who can't speak their language

  • you are so entertaining... I love to watch your video.

    I am Korean American.

  • Koreans are bodacious. ha ha...funny as hell....

  • lol love the vid. but some ppl say these things without meaning to be rude. Like ,now i no.... and i love asian ppl not meaning it any negative way my bias is south korea luv kpop !!

  • In the good old days we just called all of you people "Japs" or "Chinamen" either / or...it didn't matter. And what is a Korean other than a Chinaman who's great grandma was raped by japs? BTW how much make-up do you have to put on your face to get that Bozo the clown look?

  • @TheBaconheart WOW, Can i ask if ur having a bad day homie? Im a Black male and I could feel where she was coming from on that, your comments are awful mate! Sort your views out please!

She's actually kinda cute, i don't know her but I'm sure she dosent need all that make-up!

  • @FrancoDboss Hey Shine, I ain't your "homie". And yeah she is kinda cute in a come hump me little mama-san bar maid kind of way. I had me boatload of 'em back when I was in the service over in the Philipines. 10 bucks a fuck and she love you long time.

  • @TheBaconheart YOU RACIST

  • @clpro Hey she is the one who decided to bring up race not me. But since she is bringing it up, maybe she needs to know the truth.... they all are the same to us from out point of view.

  • @TheBaconheart if you do hate asian, get out of here. nothing to be ashamed as asian.

it's your problem for not being able to distinguish different asians. i can distinguish a English / West European / East European / Iberian, and I don't think that how difficult it is. Moreover, respect is much more important. if you dont know what it means, go check dictionary and dont comment here.

  • When im curious about which type of asian a person is I ask what is your nationality. How do you feel about that if I were asking you? And the reason im asking is to make sure its not offensive to anybody. I do this for other races as well.

  • Jesus christ you're amazign luv you <3

  • It's not just Asians that get the "squinty eye" jokes. I'm multiracial and I have small eyes that turn upward on the outer corners and when I smile...there goes my eyes. I get the "open your eyes" comment a lot and the "what are you" question too. The races I do know I'm mixed with are black, white, french creole, and latina. My dad's dad was a mixed immigrant but died before we found out his lineage so I don't know what all I am. I just wish people would accept that we all look different.

  • Girl, I agree!

It bugs me so much when people ask what am I! & some automatically think I'm Chinese? Wtf.

Ha I'm half Asian half white and apparently I have 'anime' eyes and my gosh.

What's with white people getting up all in our business?!

  • I like yur tattoo!!!:)

  • stop whining you moron. Try being black and experience real racism dipshit

oh and i love your eyes :3 they're huge and sparkly and pretty :3

    -they look naturally 'ulzzang' style :P ulzzang is just b e a u t i f u l !

and my friend also speaks korean... she said Annyeong haseyo [hello]

my great aunt is chinese and people laugh at her and point.. it sucks because she's such a nice person...

  • I'm white I appreciate. Let's forget this hate, me and you should go on a date. Because your too cute.

  • Why did you put tattoos on your body.. you were so cute until I saw the tattoos. :(

  • KOREA OWNS !! i want to move there !!!!! i didnt ear anything else... than... : KOREA :)

  • @captpoop22 Expect ALOT of open racism and prejudice then.

  • I hope you realize that saying "slanty eyes" is a derogatory, racist term in and of itself...

  • You have amazing skin! And you're so pretty!

    And I hear your point!

  • Im korean too.. Yes it always means south korean lolㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ

  • Love ur black straight hair and u look soo cute!!!!!!!

  • A Korean is nothing more than a Chinese Hillbilly. Just like America has Appalachia...China has Korea! (Korean=Chinese Hillbilly.)

  • Well....The Hello Kitty calendar and anime tats and tee-shirt really do make you seem....how do I say this....uhmmm AMERICAN! At least people were trying to make conversation with you rather than ignoring you. Try embracing something that does not make a walking stereotype of yourself. Let me guess, when these ignorant people tried to talk to you and asked if you were Chinese..you were eating at a Chinese restaurant! Or watching a Bruce Lee movie or Power Rangers!

  • Haha I like your thoughts! I've been asked about the discount handshake before but have never had somebody bow to me :P

  • lol @ "joseph again"

  • One thing is for Asian chicks are hot. That's why I'm married to one. Everything you say is true but one thing for sure is you are hot.

  • do u put on big eyes contact lenses? cos its fake

  • i sat here for 20 seconds after the video ended wondering.........what in the fuck did i just watch

  • you must be a terrible driver

  • @AMYFENGISGUILTY You must be a fucking stereotypical idiot.

  • she should have taken this opportunity to apologize for pearl harbor......... just kidding.

  • Whoever Joseph is, he's in da soup fo' sho'!!

  • @ItsAnnieeee You're calling my 'dumb' when your laughing like a maniac, lack grammar, and typing up paragraphs. You're funny. -.- Well you're not Asian and you don't think the way Asians do, so quite judging. And amazing, you are such a nerd.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG! Can totally relate to all of this!

  • Asian people do have great hair. our hair is so soft and full and dark... plus, girls love to mess with it, so, extra sex appeal.

  • agree!!!

Im half Japanese, used to get asked the same stuff when I was in the USA(-_-)

now in Japan and everyone asks me if I'm from America and try to speak English to me or just assume that I eat fried chicken and hamburgers everyday lol

    story of my life. \(//∇//)\

  • @greenbeenie15

same here... japanese people look at me weird just like how the white people stared at me in the US. I always want to scream in their face: I am one of your people! Not to mension ppl's reaction when I say I love RAmen.

  • SQUINTY EYES FOR THE WIN!!!!n im the one whos japanese :)

  • very good point im Mexican love asian pride, yes i am jealous of your eyes i wish i had slanted eyes. im being serious, not joking at all.

  • i love this video

  • Can I be your friend on FACEBOOK

  • god you have the shiniest, blackest, soft looking hair i had ever seen.

  • You're so great :)

  • right on i grew up in the south , when i say south not south Korea but the south , the dirty south meaning in the us , i just want to say you are awesome

  • i like ur video...nice tatts!

  • Ummmm, your food is getting cold on the bed, might wanna eat it soon

  • I agree that it can get frustrating to be constantly asked if you're Chinese, Korean, etc., but I wouldn't necessarily call it "Racism". Some people are just curious and interested. I, myself, have always been mistaken for an American simply because of the fact that I'm very Caucasian-looking when in fact, I have French, Hispanic, Asian and a variety of other European genes. I currently live in Asia so it is often that "white" means "American". However, I am never insulted. Simple mistakes.

  • hehe you do have amazing eyes. I wish I had them :)

  • hey! globe is made in duh china!

  • LOOK IS A ASIAN!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha and India is an Asian country and they don't look anything like Chinese xD

  • seriously if you get irritated by people asking if you're Chinese then ask yourself: are you able to distinguish Norwegians from Swedish? or Kazakhs from Turks? stop being ignorant! the world is big and when people couldn't tell where you're from it doesn't mean any bad at all.

  • @vassillissahk She's not being ignorant at all. She's not expecting people to be able to tell what race she is. She's just saying not to ask in such a stupid way and automatically assume she's chinese or speaks the language

  • @vassillissahk She most likely can't tell a Norwegian from a Swede or a Kazakh from a Turk. HOWEVER, the difference lies in the fact that she doesn't go around asking random Scandinavian-looking strangers if they're Swedish or every central Asian looking individual if they're Turkish. She's not offended that they can't determine her exact ethnic make up just by looking at her. She's just tired of being stereotyped AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

  • Joe sounds like a nice guy...lmao

  • take it off

  • you talk like typical american, your mind is not asian, you have only asian eyes but it doesn mean you are asian, you are far far away from asian mind

  • you are pretty ;)

  • But why would I ask you what country you're from? You're obviously American. Which most, as you call them, FABS (which is very racist) wouldn't consider you a true Asian, 死鬼婆!

  • Yeah, "fobs" are the real Asian! You're just an American of Korean decent, you don't know anything about Korean culture...sad...

  • Loosen up a bit. Just because they ask you a question about your heritage doesnt mean they're trying to be racist. If anything they're interested in your background, meaning that there is something to be proud of. Its much better then blacks or Latinos. The question my latino friend was asked by some white dude was "did you hop the boarder last weekend? Easter isnt here yet" And i've walked into a store where the woman said "are you here to buy?" I mean, what happened to "can i help you"?

  • @Dcutiey The fact that she calls the ignorant behavior displayed towards her "racist" is more tongue-in-cheek than anything, IMO. And were you even paying attention to some of the examples she listed? For fuck's sake imagine having to deal with that on a regular basis. BTW, her heritage is American and she shouldn't be treated as some exotic cultural artifact just because she LOOKS the way she does.

  • @nicokinko You're getting so defensive and hostile and it only makes me want to do the same to you. Its not like people are stoning her or opening fire at her . They're just asking curious questions. Some people honestly need to chill out. Is it really THAT wrong for someone to be interested in another person? If we cant ask, we'll start assuming all kinds of shet. So when i see her i should assume that shes from china, she gets straight A's, and a snob because its wrong to ask. ok then.

  • @Dcutiey Do you really have to ASK an Asian person if they indeed "are from China, get straight A's, or is a snob" in order to get to know who they are as a person?

  • You get offended by those questions? Honesty, im not even white and sometimes i'll ask what type of asian somebody is. Its not even in an effort to hurt the other persons feelings. There arnt that many asians around me to begin with and since im interested in Chinese, Japanese, Philippians, Hawaiian, and Korean culture I cant help but to ask. Would you be upset if a child asked you the same thing? Because some of us are as ignorant as kids when it comes to culture here in USA.

  • @Dcutiey And BTW, ignorant, dumbass behavior is ignorant and tiresome despite how it was intended.

  • Clearly Japanese.

See how she teleports around the screen? Ninja magic or really annoying video editing?

I'm not sure.... I think it's ninja magic.

  • gorgeous asian

  • Why would asking if you speak Korean be racist? A lot of people might not grow up in the country of their parent/parents, but they still speak that language. Some are bilingual. With all of the other things you said I agree.

  • @ItsAnnieeee Uhm because it's like saying if a white person speaks Canadian or something.? Or French.? Spanish.? -.-

  • @DecemberFreeze HAHAHAH. There's no such language as Canadian. Are you really that dumb? And don't say it was ironic because we both know it wasn't. I would not be offended, because I am an educated person that bothers to study foreign languages. I speak both of my parent's native languages, plus two others.

  • i love when you said "what am i ? i'm a human being" xD

i like your vid! and your voice :)

  • wow... that's not nearly as bad as the stereotypes that black people and latinos/hispanics have to deal with (even and especially by asian people) at least asians are generally much more accepted and appreciated and treated better than african americans and latinos.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX It doesn't seem that bad to you because you're not the one being targeted. Asians are more accepted and appreciated in this culture? Racism against us isn't even considered racism.

  • @nicokinko wtf are you talking about? i am asian. part burmese actually, and asians are the ones who are racist towards me because A: i'm mixed B: i'm tan skinned C: they don't consider Burmese to be asian because it's not Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Hell, a lot of Asians don't even consider Indians to be Asian. But the things she was saying weren't even that racist.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX First of all, the majority of people who express the "Asiansdon'tevenhaveitbadlookattheblacksandlatinos" gripe tend to not be Asians themselves. That said, it was still ignorant of me to assume that you didn't have any Asian ancestry and for that I apologize. However, her points aren't rendered illegitimate simply because there are racist Asians in this world.

  • @nicokinko Complaining about being called Chinese? At least that's better than being called a chink or a jap. And it's better than being kicked out of a Chinese owned store for being black or Mexican, or not being allowed to date an asian because you're the wrong race or even the wrong type of asian or too dark skinned or something stupid like that. and that happens a lot with asian people because of the stereotypes about other races that asians have programmed in their brains.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Why do you make it seem that Asians( who you fail to distinguish from Asian-Ams, but nontheless) are the only ones that have stereotypes about other races programmed into their brains? If that were so, this video wouldn't even exist. Asian-Americans, typically are no more racist than any other American group(which is still plenty racist given the nature of our society) so your using recent immigrant racists to discredit her is invalid.

  • @nicokinko i never said they were the only ones who are racist, but what im saying is that in my experiences, they're a lot more open about their racism because in a way, it's a part of their culture. they tend to pass racism off as "azn pride" a lot of the time. and most of the time it's the asian-americans (at least with my experiences) or the asians who were born in asia but grew up mostly in the US who are racist, since they feel like they have to prove their "asianness"

  • @nicokinko and it seems like if you like asian culture but aren't asian or aren't "asian enough" and you want to hang out or talk to an asian you have to kiss their ass all the time, whereas with mexicans and black people and even white people, they tend to be a bit more accepting of anyone who wants to talk to them. im not saying this is the case all the time, but a lot of the time, in my experiences it is completely like that.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Well, racism is ugly no matter how it's packaged or who it's from but it's important to not misconstrue WHY racism occurs on a mainstream level in any given society. In most Asian societies(as with most ethnically homogeneous societies) the racism is a simple product of ethnocentrism. Each nationality believes itself to be the best. In America, racism is institutionalized, very complex, and much more subtle. It's existence, however is undeniable to anyone with two brain cells.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX In regards to Asian-Americans - they may have adopted similar ethnocentric attitudes from their parents but the difference lies in the fact that Asians in America are such a small and generally powerless minority that they feel compelled to band together as a means of comfort, a defense if you will. It's really not at all surprising why Asian-Ams behave this way when you consider how Asians are TRULY regarded in mainstream society( something I addressed earlier).

  • @nicokinko i mean, i never said there isn't racism against asians, there's racism against every race and it's all wrong no matter who does it. what i was saying is that the racism against them isn't as strong as it is against african americans and latinos. they're still being killed and targeted by police just for looking the way they do. they still get treated bad by every race, especially black people. asians can go to asia and feel at home, but black people are disliked by africans.

  • @nicokinko you don't really see asians being targeted by government and police for immigration the way mexicans are. and a lot of the generalizations against them aren't that bad (example: they're good at math, they're good doctors, etc) whereas with black people and mexican americans its like "they're gonna rob me, they're gonna drop out of school, they're murderers/rapists/criminals, they steal cars, they're illiterate, they have kids they don't take care of, etc."

  • @XxpsychokittydxX So true. almost all of the asian stereotypes are actually good. The only bad oneare "guys have small dick" and "they eat dog" Those are the only ones i can think of. Where everyone else gets really shetty ones especially blacks. It almost doesnt seem like they have the right to complain about stereotypes to me.

  • @Dcutiey You are seriously deluding yourself. We don't have the right to complain? Could you please do some research about Asian-Am plight in America before you make these ridiculous assertions? I'm' dead serious.

  • @Dcutiey BTW, even the "good" stereotypes are harmful.

  • @Dcutiey exactly and asians tend to buy into the negative stereotypes about other races also, and that's why a lot of them have such a problem with black people. they don't wanna be stereotyped, but they stereotype others. hypocrisy if you ask me.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX It's obvious to me that you failed to read anything I've supplied to you. My god. And where the hell do you live? You make every Asian sound like they'd never so much make eye contact with a person of another race.

  • @nicokinko i read every word of what you said, and even agreed with you on some points. and i live in oakland, california, and out here this is what i've dealt with around asians. there is a large asian community out here, and a lot of them stick to their own race and dislike other races. i actually stopped talking to one of my asian friends for saying that he's a racist and treating it like it was a joke. he even asked me "how could you not be racist".

  • @XxpsychokittydxX When a significant portion of the American population actually doubts that you possess peripheral vision, then you KNOW shit's going wrong.

  • @nicokinko when a guy gets killed at the BART (oscar grant, may i add) without being armed and while complying with what the cop tells him to do for no reason, and then the cop himself basically gets away with it scot free, you know shit's going wrong. what you're saying is small compared to this. you don't see asians being killed for having slanted eyes.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX You don't think Asians are being killed or targeted for having perceived differences? Hate crimes against Asians aren't even being reported properly as such because of people such as yourself. Interestingly enough, there's been cases of an unarmed Asian being gunned down in much of the same manner because a cop assumed he knew martial arts. Oh god. In any case, you've proven my point. Racist attitudes towards Asians are in no way taken seriously by mainstream society.

  • @nicokinko i'll take it seriously when it becomes serious. what you just said about the guy being killed by the cop was much more of a serious deal than being "assumed to be chinese". just like i said before, racism against any race is wrong in my opinion. but the stuff she's saying and acting like it's sooo soo hard for her isn't even worth complaining about in my opinion. she needs to get over herself.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX In which ways is she acting as if life is sooo hard for her? This is a light-hearted commentary against all the various stupid things people say/think about Asians in America. She isn't ranting or raving or weeping or claiming that Asians have it the worst. Her message is essentially, "Hey, think twice before you say these ignorant things to an Asian". And that's about the end of it. And that's how it should be taken.

  • @nicokinko yes, she's essentially complaining about stuff that isn't even that big of a deal. how is it stupid to ask if she's chinese? maybe someone happens to know chinese or something about chinese culture. maybe she looks like a chinese person they know. maybe a chinese person thinks she's chinese. i know there are physical differences between chinese, japanese, korean, etc, but they're subtle for the most part, so i don't see how it's stupid to ask that.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX It's not a "big deal" to you because it's never happened to you let alone all throughout your life. It's an annoyance to those of us targeted. And she's calling it what it is. End of freakin' story. And why isn't it good enough to just assume that she's a simply an American? Oh right, because she's got slanty eyes and yellow skin.

  • @nicokinko it's not a big deal to me because worse things have happened to me over race, and most of those things happened because of asians/asian americans. why isn't it good enough to see her as an american? hmm... maybe because of how often she brings up being asian, and because this shows that she probably brings up being asian even more in real life. you know what's an annoyance? that every time i try to be friendly to an asian, they act like i'm not good enough.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Well, if she's making a video targeting ignorance towards Asians in America, she will bring up.....Asians. She gave no indication that she brought up anything about her Asian ancestry in her day to day life. What are you talking about?

  • @nicokinko she's getting annoyed by questions that people would typically ask anyone of a different race. if someone sees a hispanic, they might think that person was mexican, but that might be incorrect. i don't see them getting that annoyed by that. they might even say "hola" or "buenos dias" and really they actually appreciate when people do that, while she complains about people who are interested in asian culture. this just keeps people away instead of making them feel welcomed.

  • @nicokinko that every time i bring up Burma (Myanmar) they act like that isn't asian enough because it isn't Japan, Korea, China or Vietnam. that everytime i try to unite with an asian over asian culture, they act like i'm not asian because i'm mixed with hispanic and black and other things. even though i look asian, even though i usually know more about asian culture than they do, and even though i have just as much of a right to be considered asian as any chinese, japanese or korean person.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Honestly, you just seem to have had a lot of negative emotional experiences with Asian people and your perceived rejection by them. But Hannah isn't one of those people and neither am I. So stop generalizing us and muttering about hypocrisy all in one breath. And BTW, Myanmar is as Asian a country as any.

  • @nicokinko i'm not generalizing all asians, i'm saying that her video doesn't show her to be any different than the asians who have this "asian pride". she shows the same exact attitude and body language that they do. she complains about the exact same things that they do without addressing that there are worse things going on. if she actually was complaining about something significant, i'd agree with her, but all she's doing is complaining about people who are just curious.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX I'd hate to resort to this but this needs to be put into perspective. If a black woman was "complaining" about strangers asking her if she knows fried chicken recipes or if she's from Africa or randomly rapping Biggie Smalls lyrics to her than would you be so dismissive? I'd doubt it. It's just stupid behavior.

  • @nicokinko first of all thats completely different because those are just stereotypes whereas people really do bow and say "konnichiwa" in japan. a lot of asian people actually do know the language and there are a lot of chinese americans in america. so asking those questions isn't that unreasonable. whereas, most black people and africans look completely different, and not every black person likes hip hop or fried chicken.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Not all blacks like hip hop or friend chicken so they are understandably upset when people assume this about them because they look a certain way. Not all Asians bow or know Chinese so they, too are kinda peeved when people expect this of them. It's the same deal.

  • @nicokinko but the fact that asian people group together a lot and tend to exclude others is what tends to make people think these things about them. sure other races group together too, but they don't exclude others nearly as often as asians do, which makes people more curious about asians. i mean, if someone hangs out in an exclusive group and does things that not many people know about or understand, it's natural to be curious about them.

  • @nicokinko and also the fact that every type of asian hangs out together and the fact that they have some similar physical attributes makes people think that every type of asian person is the same thing. if they were more welcoming and open about letting people know about their individual cultures (the way a lot of hispanics are) then people wouldn't make these mistakes so often. getting mad isn't gonna help, it'll just make people even more confused and they won't even bother to ask anymore.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Even in LA, most Non-Hispanics wouldn't know the difference between a Salvadorian and a Mexican to save their lives. So your assertion isn't entirely correct. Really, you're taking a very complex issue and trying to condense it into a very simplistic black and white format.

  • @nicokinko exactly, but 4 times outta 5, if you ask a mexican person if they're salvadorian they won't get that mad or they'll just gently correct you. whereas if you ask a korean person if they're chinese they'll get all pissed about it. if you say "hola" to a person who looks like they're from south america, most of the time they'll appreciate your interest, even if they don't know spanish. but if you say "ni hao" or "konnichiwa" to an asian person they'll get mad at you.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX My friend made the mistake of thinking our chinses teacher liked miso soup(a soup popular in japan). Our teacher gave my friend a pissy face and said "thank you for your efforts but miso soup is japanese". Even so you could tell she was pissed off. Im sure she couldnt get mad because she's a teacher.

  • @Dcutiey but getting mad doesn't really fix anything. i mean it's just an honest curious question. it's not racism. and that's basically why i was saying theres nothing to complain about especially if you're not even gonna explain or be open about it. i mean, it's not like asians don't assume things about other races, and if someone like me or you went to asia they'd be asking us the same type of questions. but we wouldn't get mad about it because they're just asking an honest question.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Exactly. It will only make us assume that she hates her background and giving us attitude will only make us pissed off. That leads to a thought of "i wonder if all asians are like that". If they do share the same pattern, a stereotype could be made and not a very good one at that. You could try to argue "i was born in america. im american just like you." But thats a lie. No person is the same as their neighbor. I think some people need to learn a bit of pride

  • @Dcutiey but they always claim to have asian pride like all the time. it's almost all they talk about. but it doesn't make sense to me.

  • @Dcutiey and a lot of asian people do tend to give attitude when you ask them questions about their race and that just perpetuates the stereotype.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX

You're just using your personal experiences as the almighty truth at this point so I have no reason to quarrel with you anymore. However, I will leave on this note. All Hispanic cultures speak Spanish. All Asian cultures speak different languages. So how the fuck is that even comparable? It boggles my mind how far people will bend over backwards to defend stupidity.

  • @nicokinko because personal experiences do contribute to truth. im not even arguing, im just trying to show you a different perspective, because just like i haven't had your experiences, you haven't had mine, so you don't have the right to say that what i'm saying is wrong. and yes, all hispanic cultures speak spanish, but not every hispanic speaks spanish, and yet they still don't get mad when someone assumes that they do. similar to how not every asian person speaks chinese.

  • @nicokinko also similar to how not every asian person speaks any asian language, yet they still get mad when someone is interested in asian culture. so yes, it is comparable, maybe not exactly, but it is comparable. i understand what you're saying but you should at least try to see what i am saying. yes racism happens in every race and culture, but with asians it is a PART of their culture to be racist, in a way. and as i said before, segregation never fixed racism.

  • @nicokinko i mean, how am i being stupid if i'm curious about another culture? and yet that culture wants to be treated equal while excluding others. that in and of itself makes no sense.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX YOU ARE RIGHT, ASIANS LOOK DOWN ON THOSE WITH DARK SKIN, BLACKS ESPECIALLY

  • @AMYFENGISGUILTY which is fucked up because it's all based on stereotypes and it's racist.

  • @nicokinko honestly, my point is, if someone asks her if she is chinese, how hard would it really be for her to just say "no, i'm not chinese, i'm korean." and then maybe she could tell them a little bit about korea or korean culture. problem solved. getting mad about it isn't gonna solve shit, and it's not gonna make anyone think any better about asian people in general.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX

It wouldn't be hard at all. And that's probably what she does, anyway. However, it's still annoying for the Asians who experience this, hence she's giving you a tip. DON'T DO IT THIS WAY. This is a "do's and don't's" video. Not a "OMFG IM AZN SO MY LIFE SUX SO BAD" video. She's advising you on how to avoid doing something ignorant because it's a widespread problem. Why do you insist on thinking there's more to it than that?

  • @nicokinko then i don't get why it's so "annoying". to me, it would be a compliment like "hey, someones interested in my culture, someone's interested in ME" rather than "OMG don't ask me that, it's so rude". i mean the way she says it is like "why would you ever assume I'm Chinese, oh my God there are other Asian countries, that's so annoying, don't ask me like that." It's like if someone asks her that she'll bitch at them.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX

Let me break this down for you in language you can understand:

    1. Stereotypes are annoying.

2.All Asians being Chinese is a common stereotype.

    3. That person isn't interested in HER. They're interested in whatever culture they assume her to be a part of and expect her to play the role of educator/pr manager. She is completely overlooked as a person.

  • @nicokinko don't treat me like i'm stupid, that is very rude and I didn't insult your intelligence, so this is uncalled for. yes i know that stereotypes are annoying, but some stereotypes can be true in certain situations. no, not all asians are chinese but a lot of them are. china has too many damn people and a lot of chinese people immigrate here. there are a lot of chinatowns in america and it's common to see many different types of asians in chinatown.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX

For fuck's sake I KNOW people can't tell Asian nationalities apart and I'm perfectly aware that the "All Asians are Chinese" stereotype wasn't just pulled out of someone's ass to make Asians feel bad. That said, it is STILL culturally insensitive and annoying for reasons obvious to any semi-rational being despite the good intentions of the asker. Why are you thinking up every conceivable reason to rally against this girl. I doubt she lashes out at the asker given her character

  • @nicokinko i'm not, i'm just saying, you can't really automatically assume someone's being racist or culturally insensitive because they ask if someone's chinese. like i said, they may have a valid, specific reason for asking that. or just because they do something that might actually be appropriate in certain situations (like bowing and saying "konnichiwa"). it might seem that way at first but some people will surprise you.

  • @nicokinko it is also common for a lot of people not to be able to tell the difference between types of asian from just looking at them. especially since they tend to all group together and make things more confusing. maybe the person asking her has an actual reason to specifically ask whether she's chinese or not. you can't really tell someone's intentions from a simple question like that. it might not be them stereotyping. as i said before, maybe they are part chinese or maybe they

  • @nicokinko know cantonese or mandarin or maybe they have some other reason to ask that question. getting an attitude about it will not help people's perceptions of asians and asian americans. and besides the best way to learn about a culture is from someone of that culture or by going to that country. maybe they want to be her friend. getting mad ruins some potential possibility of those things happening. maybe they've never talked to an asian person before.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX

I honestly have to question the mental stability of a person who thinks it's normal or healthy to desire someone as a friend solely because they are a certain race. Ever heard of the token black friend? The token Asian friend? Yeah...

  • @nicokinko like i said, maybe they never met or talked to a person of that race before. just like if someone of a different race goes to Asia, a lot of people will start asking them questions solely based on race. hell i would like to have an asian friend, to prove that i can actually meet and talk openly with an asian that isn't a complete douchebag to me and others of different races.

  • @XxpsychokittydxX Are you actually suggesting that it is PROBABLE that those guys had never encountered an Asian before in their lives? Regardless, it's still no excuse to treat a person like a cultural artifact. It's weird in China and it's especially weird in a historically self-proclaimed "melting pot" like the U.S. On the bright side, those peeps who had actually never met an Asian before will know what is and isn't appropriate behavior. Which was...the whole point of this video. Night!
