okay after watching this video over and over again from different angles and in slow motion. my theory is that steckel didn't mean hit him at all. from my angles of watching it. Crosby actually steps right in front of steckel. then steckel trying to avoid him but by waving his arm he then hit Crosby head by accident. so in my mind this was not done on purpose

@malkin71fan I have to agree with you. As a Leaf fan, I never really paid much attention to Steckel. I only knew what the media hyped up about the hit. After watching him play for the past couple of weeks, he doesn't seem to be the type of player that would do that intentionally. I too, watched the video over, and over. It looks to me that he was actually just trying to get past him, and the contact was incidental. Too bad it happened, and for the sake of Pens fans, I wish Crosby the best.

He skated right into him without looking. David Steckel is nothing like Matt Cook. Steckel's reputation is good all the way. The incident is something that is just going to happen every now and then. heard a lot of comments that this was an "accident" when it happened including from these announcers at the time. I think it's more "accidentally on purpose" because Steckel skates into Crosby and raises up to get him in the head with his shoulder pad.

the league really needs to look at equipment esp the shoulder and elbow pads. the used to be just leather with padding. now they are high-impact plastic covered like a linebacker would wear in the football. Don Cherry WARNED what would happen.

Crosby is less a hockey player and more a marketing tool to dumb down the product to attract non hockey fans, that's his impact on the game. He's got the kind of work ethic where he won't be happy unless he's playing his best or improving on another part of his game. I guess We'll see how he responds if he returns for the playoffs.

You may also see the opposite effect as far as other teams going after him. Some may be worried about too lengthy a suspension and fine.

@twistedschism716 Absolutely. I don't understand crosby fans who don't think Ovechkin is any good and visa versa. Anyone who has ever played the sport can certainly admire the talent in both as well as the work-horses of the league. I was a goalie, so I tend to follow keepers.

Crosby certainly had a lot of growing up to do, but I think he's doing it. I'm probably biased but I think the way he is beginning to handle himself has been much more maturely.
