I knew something was wrong with the society in the 70's. Back then there was not an internet so I couldn't go on line and learn of the history of the Watchtower Society. I had to search old literature. It took longer but I discovered that many predictions had failed on many occasions. So logan500 how do you deal with WT lies? i feel as you do very much so. i was a JW for the first 15 years of my life. At the age of 15 i was placed in fostercare caz of the things my mother an father were doing that the elders of the kingdom hall would tell them was ok to do... i just feel badly for my 3 younger brotehrs that are still living with my mother an father to this day... for how brain washed they are from being part of the JWs

@rick91chevy I left when I was 18. It was horrible, the "elders" came after me, stalked and harassed me trying to get proof, or an admission of sin on my part. I just wanted to be left alone to live my life, and did not want to be officially ousted & shunned. They finally Disfellowshiped me one year later saying that my attitude was all that mattered--my attitude told them I was on satan's side. I was cut off & shunned by my parents, brother and youngest sister & every friend I had grown up w/.

The truth can always be questioned. That's why I use to invite witnesses in our house, unfortunately they never wanted to question theirs so they left.

One of my good friends is an ex JW, and his whole family, all of his old friends arent allowed to talk to him anymore. They gave him some crazy name or something, might be "apostate", not even sure.
But we talk alot about it, and he is just amazed at how he was lead to believe all of that garbage for so long, it just doesnt make much sense to anyone once you get away from it and realistically look at what they are feeding you.

I sold 7 books on ebay called Studies In The Scriptures by the Watchtower dated in the late 1800's several years ago and later learned that book 6 had racist remarks claiming that negroes would not inherit the kigdom of God. That book incidently fetched over $500.00 while the others were $25.00 to 75.00.

It has to do with the Bible chronology that is so dear to these people. The bible cannot be used as an accurate basis for history/chronology. Older manuscripts have different years in the texts . JWs also teach, among many things, that because Adam was made first and Eve was made as his helper that women are "under the law of their husband." Also the JWs condemn divorce under any circumstances except for adultery. So if a JW woman's husband is, for example, is a verbally abusive asshole but he is faithful to her, she has to just sit quietly and take it for decade after decade unless one of them commits adultery. Nice huh?
@AllTruthRevealed I almost died because of the JW take on blood. I had a major surgery when I was 8 months old. My mother specifically took me to Cleveland Clinic, next state over from where we were, just because the doctor agreed that he would NOT give me a blood transfusion if I needed it. Well I lost too much blood during my surgery. The doctor changed his mind (how could you not?), and saved my life.

Oh dear hun...I was baptized as one of JW in 1974 and have struggled because of their teachings on Christ Jesus...for everyones info,they teach Christ is only mediator to 144,000,and the value of his blood only applies to these 144,000,I was so distraught when I saw it in black and white,that was the straw that made me know I couldn't ever go back. The congregations were full of exhausted, timid people. Many were lonely as members had little to do with one another. There was a terrible judgemental attitude. Many were clinically depressed. It was awful. It's a terrible, crushing religion. Get out, and heal!

I have to agree w/ this post very strongly. In depressive illness, there are 2 types; clinical & causative. The 1st is genetic, the 2nd is thus enforced by behaviour & environment or both. This is a circumstantial depression.
it is amazing how you can program someone to believe something about themselves! i remember wondering why, if we were the happiest people, so many of my friends were depressed. then i saw my non-witness family and how most of them were as happy or happier than me. and i remember being shocked that not everyone had problems or a big crisis in their life, like i suspected they would. sad, isn't it?

ExJW's like Milena are typically slandered within the group, the gossip always being that they did something wrong, or that they are somehow defective. I have a friend who is being activly "recruited" by a JW . Im watching her change her views on things daily to fit into JW beliefs. I feel very uncomfortable about the whole thing. She mentinoned how I feel to the JW she talks to and the lady laughed and said I was ignorant. She still listens to me and takes my advice. Ist there any website or liturature that I can show her that the JWs would not be showing her so she is fully informed before commiting to them?
Hi, I have been disassociated for 18yrs now. I guess I never realized that there were so many people out there like me. I left by choice, not disfellowshipped. But i am, as you probably are also... completely dead to my family. I want to educate my siblings, but, i am still afraid that I will be viewed as apostate and the shunning will be even worse. I at least get to talk to them once or twice a year. Anybody out there in the same shoes?
Exactly, your case is a prime example of the mind control technique. FEAR of shunning, being completely cut off from family, or as you mentioned, actually being DEAD in the family eyes. You're better off not trying to educate family siblings in my opinion. You've already suffered enough and found comfort in the fact that this religion "is out to lunch".

I caught the Jehovah's Witness recruting at the largest mall in Hong Kong. I informed the owners they would face legal action and media attention if anyone was harmed as a result of the recruiting. The owners agreed, in writing, to keep the recruiters out.

Went to summer assembly trying to get back and see during intermission there is the twisted fiend who sexually assaulted me when I was 7 years old. You are right many, many many lives have been damaged by abuse within that organization. And to think that fiend is walking around and people there can talk to them, but not to me.

holy hell, I meet a large amount of JW's every year the same people over and over, there real nice, some were real touchy, THey were respectful for the most part, a little ignorant but I didnt know alot of the stuff went on that. We would get into debates sometimes on evolution and alot of other stuff concerning god and how to live our lives and what not. Recently I've become more of a strong agnostic than a cathlioc and opened my eyes.

It is true. The "brothers" also let children be physically abused by their parent(s) and then read them scriptures about respecting their parents. My stepfather knocked me down at 10 for talking back, kicked the crap out of me with cowboy boots on and I AM THE ONE who got repremanded for not showing enough respect. Good riddance. my step father did the same thing to me too (who was a JW). He also molested both me and my little cousin.The organisation did nothing. I went to the police, but my step father told them that I was a bad kid and he was never charged. JW is dangerous for children!
I was a JW for the first 17 years off my life and never came across this peodophile issue you mentioned, they must have kept it well hidden because ive only just started hearing about it. I regret my childhood was wasted to this religion and still feel upset about it, I hate to think the same thing is happening to other kids out there within the organisation.
If your brother gets in, I hope that he can do as they say to do. They are so nice to you in the beginning. He always said to me you cant have a personal relationship with God unless you know his name as being Jehovah. His wife was an ex JW but is no longer. I posted on other sites something that happened in my family. My foster parents left for Central America to give the "TRUTH" to the people there before the end came in 1975! They sold everything and spent every dime they had made with their businesses and savings! In 1976 they came back broke, angry and disappointed!

I knew something was wrong with the society in the 70's. Back then there was not an internet so I couldn't go on line and learn of the history of the Watchtower Society. I had to search old literature. It took longer but I discovered that many predictions had failed on many occasions. So logan500 how do you deal with WT lies? At the age of 15 i was placed in fostercare caz of the things my mother an father were doing that the elders of the kingdom hall would tell them was ok to do... i just feel badly for my 3 younger brotehrs that are still living with my mother an father to this day... for how brain washed they are from being part of the JWs

@rick91chevy I left when I was 18. It was horrible, the "elders" came after me, stalked and harassed me trying to get proof, or an admission of sin on my part. I just wanted to be left alone to live my life, and did not want to be officially ousted & shunned. They finally Disfellowshiped me one year later saying that my attitude was all that mattered--my attitude told them I was on satan's side. I was cut off & shunned by my parents, brother and youngest sister & every friend I had grown up w/.

It took many years to get through the huge depression that all of that brought on. It still hurts. It's still not fully healed. But things are so much better. Now I know what True Love is. I finally know what Honesty, Integrity & Compassion are. & we have a world wide support system with other X-JWs. =)

The truth can always be questioned. That's why I use to invite witnesses in our house, unfortunately they never wanted to question theirs so they left.

One of my good friends is an ex JW, and his whole family, all of his old friends arent allowed to talk to him anymore. They gave him some crazy name or something, might be "apostate", not even sure.
But we talk alot about it, and he is just amazed at how he was lead to believe all of that garbage for so long, it just doesnt make much sense to anyone once you get away from it and realistically look at what they are feeding you.
That pretty much describes all religions though.

I sold 7 books on ebay called Studies In The Scriptures by the Watchtower dated in the late 1800's several years ago and later learned that book 6 had racist remarks claiming that negroes would not inherit the kigdom of God. That book incidently fetched over $500.00 while the others were $25.00 to 75.00.

It's better for us to apologize for our past than to ignore it and continue being unhappy. I am writing a piece against my former 'brothers in Brooklyn'. It has to do with the Bible chronology that is so dear to these people. The bible cannot be used as an accurate basis for history/chronology. Older manuscripts have different years in the texts . JWs also teach, among many things, that because Adam was made first and Eve was made as his helper that women are "under the law of their husband." Also the JWs condemn divorce under any circumstances except for adultery. So if a JW woman's husband is, for example, is a verbally abusive asshole but he is faithful to her, she has to just sit quietly and take it for decade after decade unless one of them commits adultery. Nice huh?

@AllTruthRevealed I almost died because of the JW take on blood. I had a major surgery when I was 8 months old. My mother specifically took me to Cleveland Clinic, next state over from where we were, just because the doctor agreed that he would NOT give me a blood transfusion if I needed it. Well I lost too much blood during my surgery. The doctor changed his mind (how could you not?), and saved my life.

This is just repeating what the Wachtower tells us "we are the happiest...". Nonsense! It's just programming. I was a JW for over 30 years and most JW's were very, very unhappy. The congregations were full of exhausted, timid people. Many were lonely as members had little to do with one another. There was a terrible judgemental attitude. Many were clinically depressed. It was awful. It's a terrible, crushing religion. Get out, and heal!

ExJW's like Milena are typically slandered within the group, the gossip always being that they did something wrong, or that they are somehow defective. This groupthink within the JW's is to reassure remaining members that they are still the only true religion. Cultish religions have this us-against-them mentality. When I grew up JW, I always heard JW's were the happiest. I believed it then because I didn't know anything else. Now I've seen both sides, and life outside is fine and I'm still happy

I have a friend who is being activly "recruited" by a JW . Im watching her change her views on things daily to fit into JW beliefs. I feel very uncomfortable about the whole thing. She mentinoned how I feel to the JW she talks to and the lady laughed and said I was ignorant. She still listens to me and takes my advice. Ist there any website or liturature that I can show her that the JWs would not be showing her so she is fully informed before commiting to them?

Hi, I have been disassociated for 18yrs now. I guess I never realized that there were so many people out there like me. I left by choice, not disfellowshipped. But i am, as you probably are also... completely dead to my family. I want to educate my siblings, but, i am still afraid that I will be viewed as apostate and the shunning will be even worse. I caught the Jehovah's Witness recruting at the largest mall in Hong Kong. I informed the owners they would face legal action and media attention if anyone was harmed as a result of the recruiting. The owners agreed, in writing, to keep the recruiters out.

Went to summer assembly trying to get back and see during intermission there is the twisted fiend who sexually assaulted me when I was 7 years old. You are right many, many many lives have been damaged by abuse within that organization. And to think that fiend is walking around and people there can talk to them, but not to me.

What makes it worse is there are so many within the org. that would read that and say 'oh, he's making it up', they are so clouded to the facts that such vile things go on within the congos and that it is covered up for the sake of keeping the congo and org looking like it is 'the best'. holy hell, I meet a large amount of JW's every year the same people over and over, there real nice, some were real touchy, THey were respectful for the most part, a little ignorant but I didnt know alot of the stuff went on that. We would get into debates sometimes on evolution and alot of other stuff concerning god and how to live our lives and what not. Recently I've become more of a strong agnostic than a cathlioc and opened my eyes.

It is true. The "brothers" also let children be physically abused by their parent(s) and then read them scriptures about respecting their parents. My stepfather knocked me down at 10 for talking back, kicked the crap out of me with cowboy boots on and I AM THE ONE who got repremanded for not showing enough respect. Good riddance. I am right there with you about the door to door thing, too. At least we know (so much) better, now, Milena...hugs.

my step father did the same thing to me too (who was a JW). He also molested both me and my little cousin.The organisation did nothing. I went to the police, but my step father told them that I was a bad kid and he was never charged. JW is dangerous for children!

I was a JW for the first 17 years off my life and never came across this peodophile issue you mentioned, they must have kept it well hidden because ive only just started hearing about it. I regret my childhood was wasted to this religion and still feel upset about it, I hate to think the same thing is happening to other kids out there within the organisation.

If your brother gets in, I hope that he can do as they say to do. They are so nice to you in the beginning. God forbid, if he should ever get disfellowshipped, they turn on their own in 24 hours time. One minute you are their best friend and the next you are shunned. It is my belief that they have "conditional love". And that is very dangerous. True Christianity is not based on conditional love. Jesus and God have PERFECT LOVE!

Hi, I have a brother who is studying with the JW and he believes that thier religion is true. He always said to me you cant have a personal relationship with God unless you know his name as being Jehovah. His wife was an ex JW but is no longer. I joined the army and was a army ranger for 4 years. I was made to kill in the service. Now my mother does not talk to me as well as one of my sisters. Im 27 now and nothing has changed with my family. I made a decision when I was 16. When I was very young, oblivious and immature. Now I have no family

I posted on other sites something that happened in my family. My foster parents left for Central America to give the "TRUTH" to the people there before the end came in 1975! They sold everything and spent every dime they had made with their businesses and savings! In 1976 they came back broke, angry and disappointed!

I also remember the brothers and sisters in Malawi being persecuted for their loyalty to this Bethel, Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower, International Bible Students, whatever you want to call it. But since the Organization wanted Mexico to be evangelized they permited Mexicans to hold political cards!! What hypocrites they let people be raped, killed, molested and maimed bc they were blacks and not hispanics!

They just found out Nathan Knorr president of the Watchtower was signing a pledge of allegiance to the U.S. to get his passport, while denying the people of Malawi to get a party card! People have a differing maturity levels & develop logical conclusions at different rates. People have been "serving Jehovah" for many many years more than 18, but they still come to a realisation that it is a deceitful cult & is imcompatible with true actuality-based christian/ bible teaching.
