Did anyone get the web page where he bought the Hard drive adapters? I'm looking but can't find the one that comes with all the hook ups for different hard drives and such.
HI . SIR I HAVE TOSHIBA 250GB EXTERNAL HARDISK . I HAVE PROBLEM THAT COMPUTER NOT RECOGNIZING THE HARDISK . AND THERE IS SOME TIME CLLICK NOISE . SO WHAT I DO TO FIX IT AGAIN . ONE THING I OPEN THE OUTSIDE COVER AS U DID IN VIDEO . AND TAKE THE LITTLE BOARD . AND THEN CONNECT THE HARDISK WITH SATA CABLE AND POWER . AND BIOS SHOWING THERE IS HARDSIK . BUT INSIDE WINDOW 7 ULTIMATE ITS NOT SHOWN . THE HARDISK IS WORKING BUT NOT RECOGNIZED BY WINDOWS . PLEASE NEED UER HELP I NEED DATA INSIDE IT
He showed you how to get the hard drive out and get it connected to your pc so you can extract whatever you need off of it, what else do you need to know?
this is a mac and it is shocking that the adaptor is not recognized with the extension USB port as the guy says on 4:00 minute.. Being Apple that is shocking.
What is the name of this adaptor? do they have for PCs as well ?
Data recovery software is really a good thing, MiniTool data recovery software is a good choice for you. It is easy to use and it is efficient. Some of the editions are absolutely FREE!!!!!!!! Any of you need it can have a try
Great hands on demonstration on one way to recover files from a non-responsive external HD. I am in the process of basically doing the same thing, but inserting my external HD into an new inclosure.
Hey, I have a 2.5" IDE (I think that's what it's s called) drive from a broken laptop. It doesn't have a power thing like your bigger one did. Will it work with this?
Cool - I just bought a Universal Adapter. The USB 2.0 was sold out, but they now have a USB 3.0 version. It cost me $46.69AU and that includes postage.
If your external hard drive stops working like in the vid, is it more likely for the casing bit to be faulty or is it more likely for it to be the external hard drive itself? Please answer, I have this problem :(
Damn I wish I'd found out about this vid sooner, I'm pretty sure this is what Geek Squad's "Level 2 Recovery" is (Only since they're Geek Squad, they get to charge $500 for it. They've still got my dead drive I'm gonna see if I can just cancel the service and do it myself...it'll cost me $30 for the adapter and ten minutes of my time lol. if this doesn't work, I'll save up the $1,500 and send i back in for "Level 3 Recovery". nice vid, thanx.
Dude please help me to recover my data before i send my Seagate to repair, in the last months i heard several clicking sounds and there where some times that the hard drive just stop the transfer it wouldn't just cllose ;/ can you describe this tool that aloud you to have acces to your external hard drive?
My Seagate is the Freeagent Extreme with 2 TB and i still have the guarranty untill 2015...but my data is more important than the drive itself...all my projects and man i dont want to lose it
@iQuicktime By following the process he said? A lot of external harddrive problems come down to the case being damaged, and not the harddrive itself. The steps to resolve this is shown in the video...
This doesn't "fix" your hard drive, only access to the data (i.e. data recover).
Step 2. Take the Hard drive out of the external enclosure whatever brand it is (Lacie, WD, Seagate) and keep the bare Hard drive in front of you (Mine
Step 3. Connect everything together (SATA Power Cable to Power Adapter: USB cable to SATA port of the HD).
Step 4. Plug in the USB cable into your computer.
That's what he does in the video. If you have done Step 1, just going through the box would help you understand.
wtf is this? #fail

The hard drive wasn't bad the enclosure was. So, you're not "attempting recovery on a failed hard drive" You're "changing a bad enclosure".
