SRV knows how to do power guitar, and has done some of the best solos of him lifetime, but i can personally say that Mayer has been the best guitarist and bringing emotion out of the audience. goosebumps, tears and euphoria.

I was at this show and there aren't many artist if any who are as personal and intimate as he is and jimi and stevie maybe better guitarist but there lyrics did stick in your head for what they meant the guitar play was great but it wasnt inspiration and awe inspiring he picks the perfect notes to fit the grand emotion of his songs those guys were great and probably better but as the total package he has more

Yea some people say hes not good cause he can't play fast. Well yea, he can, and he has shown it in the past. he said that in a lot of his songs now (compared to his older songs) he just plays slower to leave more room for "emotion" or something like that. I think. But yea he is really good. He went to Berkeley.

he is one of the greatest guitar players ever, if he were alive and playing in the 60's and 70's no one would ever question him, but since he made some songs like "your body is a wonderland" and others he gets blasted, he is one of the best if not the best musician we have ever heard.
