  • so the whole thumb thing is hard for me... maybe if i had a strat the neck would be thin enough for me to play that way...?

  • @BarneyTee 4 chords, same same as usual (no woman no cry, so lonely, with ou without you, etc)

  • @BarneyTee It's really one of the most common chord progressions in rock music, but his ornamentation is rather nice.

  • =0

  • Instructional videos are cool but I think they're even more awesome when they're done by the person who wrote and recorded them I mean people post different variations of a song but if the actual artist shows you then I believe thats how it is supposed to be played.

  • nice sound - best wishes PAUL

  • @BarneyTee Just play it like you feel it. That's pretty much what John does.

  • it took me 2 hours to learn the first 20 seconds of this song

  • @mynewchanel That's pretty quick, lol.

  • @mynewchanel haha same here man XD

  • Ne one else notice after the intro he uses the pick for the first two chords then uses his hand for the next 3 then hits the pick for the rest of the song. I thought it was pretty cool

  • Ha ha just read a comment some one though he used a capo! What madness

  • Lol I like how at 7:44 he busts out a little 2 beat funk pattern XD

  • love that strat sound mmmm

  • Amazing, im just now realizing how influenced this song is by Hendrix.

  • @BarneyTee It takes soul to play like him. His style is literally the definition of soul. Plus who your influences are foreshadows your future style, possibly.

  • @BarneyTee thats why, most guys who learn how to shred metal style have a really hard time getting their heads around stuff like this, because in my opinion, metal does more leads than solos. Im pretty ignorant of music theory and metal playing and this is really where i come from. Not as well of course but XD

  • 5 people they cant play it on guitar!!!

  • somebody should tab figure 7 & 8

  • SO FUCKING AMAZING! JUST WOOOOOW!

  • thanks john, this helped me a lot!

  • John's smile at the 5th figure, amazing <3

  • I literally smiled the whole time he played. He's just so amazing :)

  • whoever disliked this clearly needs to seek help.

  • !>$@? I have this exact guitar, its so flippin sweet

  • @BarneyTee

something like this is unlearnable (if this word exists)

    ;)

  • @wea3el no?

  • @wea3el oh mb i thought you said this song is unlearnable... yes the skill to write such madness is impossible.

  • @ThatMusicianGuy1 yes, I ment writing skills :)

  • listen what he says. thats the lesson.

  • what effect he's using at 3:11?

    anyone can tell me?

  • @davidtheguitarman chorus.but a pretty heavy chorus effect.

  • 3:31 best face

  • Whats the tunning, and I though he used a capo?

  • @BarneyTee just sign up for GUITAR CLASS in high school, im a sophomore and i did that my freshman year of high school, i learned so much, you practice everyday for 2 hours in that class, i have 4 classes in one day each around 2 hours long, (1 hr 30 mins) if you take the class you will learn a lot of chords but all the other stuff including note reading is just bull shit

  • amazing!

  • your my role model

  • what effect is used at Fig. 5??

  • @Foggga i think its chorus flange

  • Freakin amazing. I can't stop watching it.

  • it's probably because he's john frusciante

  • somebody can tell me please what chord did he use in fig. 5 (03:30)

  • Comment removed

  • google has ruined youtube im trying to write the chords but it wont let me right it down in tab so (play bottom 4 strings only) bar ring finger on 10 pinky on bottom e string 12 slide to bar 9 and pinky on 10 (e string) slide to bar 12 and pinky on 14 (e string)

  • Frusciante rules... for me personally no.1 guitarist of this period... and I don't say that lightly.

  • yeah, I like his style, too, but to me it cannot be considered a real lesson..

  • @GuitarSean5153 I'd say it's more a picking pattern/tempo lesson than an actual playing lesson

  • john you're the fucking man, these vids are great. solid character

  • He is jaja but he is one of the best guitar players round the world !!!!

  • omg amazing

  • He plays a Strato. The right hand is incredible, makes the difference. Gonna practice.

  • what guitar is he using???

  • Those Burns Are Bad, Burning Buildings Must Hurt
