In 1977 i moved to Shell Knob Mo.,worked building houses and drank lots of beer!ETC's album Blue Pearl is still one of my favorite's.Great memories!Fire and Smoke was on this album.
I worked some elderly men who around the country music e.r.a of the 60s and 70s, back in the nineties, and they said country music aunt country music anymore, and this was around 1998, I was just five years out of high school, and I said really, what changed country music. One of these guys replied it started getting weird in the eighties, yeah, thats about the time pop started mixing in it, and country pop was born, they had a point.
Reminds me of going to my grandparents' house where they always had the American Country Countdown with Bob Kingsley playing on the radio, country 107.7 WGNA FM. The 80's had real,100% pure Country music.
SOON AS THE SONG JUST STARTED PLAYING, BOY DID THE MEMORIES START COMING BACK FROM MY OL HONKY TONK DAYS, THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC, LOVE IT STILL AND ALWAYS WILL
I had the pleasure of acutulaly having a few drinks with Mr. Conley at the Holiday Inn in Mansfieild, Ohio. He was there performing during the Miss Ohio pagent,...I'm not sure which year it was; I'm thinking it was around 1995 or so.
Well at any rate,... my friend got him to meet us at the Holiday Inn for a few drinks!!!
I do know that he likes to drink Bud Light & shots of Bluebeery Schnoops (please forgive my spelling,....but you get the idea).
Gee, I can remember this song so good after so long way ago when I was a kid... I didn`t know much about music back then but I couldn´t forget this country song only the title, but I recently found it again and it seems it's describing the condition I'm in.
Greetings from Mexico, I appreciate country music.
@sleepyhitson78 Yup...I remember being in the back of my mom's station wagon singing this like I was on a Nashville stage! THIS is pure country and something we are missing now.
This is one of my three favorite Earl Thomas Conley songs, the other two being "Holding Her And Loving You," and "Brotherly Love (Feat. Keith Whitley)"
not just voice processors, but nasaly voice processors. im 32 & im thankful I know real country, these poor young kids now days dont know what they are missing.
@jennyevd im 13 and this new stuff sucks I like the old stuff like merle waylon johnny etc jones and kris kristofferson the new singers need to quit pretending like there playing country

This was good enough for the soft rock genre. It has the Eagles sound somewhat.
