Do you have enough gear range to go up steep hills and reach the top speed limited by wind and not the rev limiter? What sort of hills can it climb in first or is it mostly speed and overdrive gears?

I like the 4 stroke engine and the 7/8 speed derailleur gears with freewheel. I wish I had the know how to make one that uses all the gears and allows pedalling with the engine and to start it, but can disengages the engine so you don't waste effort turning an engine when you just want pedal power - e.g. in dense traffic.

Pretty cool. Except for the added 45lbs of engine on one side of the bike. Surely the effort it takes to keep that baby up negates a lot of the fun that could be had. Maybe if there was a counter weight on the other side? But then that is added weight and reduced performance... I think I'll stick to mowing my lawn and riding my bike with pedals.

@died4hislove That makes NO sense. That video involves using the pedals for torque or speed. Only one problem - this bike doesn't get its power from the pedals! It's MOTORIZED, changing the length of the crank would do NOTHING!

I love the way it says you're going 52 MPH at 1:24, when it looks like you're going about 15=20 MPH. I have the exact same speedometer and it did that. You must reset it for it to work properly.

I think it's in km/h and the speedo has a delay in registering, you see it drop to 45 then 25.

If I were to do this, I'd mount the motor in the center, and use the pedal shaft as a layshaft. That way, I'd be able to use all 21 gears (3 on pedal end, 7 on rear hub) lol

110cc techumseh 2 stroke modified with an extra cylender ring, 100 octane gasoline.... this engine is origionally 4 1/2 HP, and now produces 15....it still doesnt like 7th and 8th gear, usually the chain falls off arround 6th, i nevergo past 4th for the reason it goes too fast. arround 55-60, depending on the flatness of the road

You can get them at any bike shop, but I don't think it would work for a goped. They have a little reciever on the forks and a magnet on the spokes, and it would give false indications on a goped's smaller wheels (if I know what a goped is, that is.)
