@rustysruger looks like he crossed onto the yellow line. anyone thats got half a brain knows those things dont offer that much grip and he crossed onto it earlier in the video aswell. painted lines = low traction.
Rider lost his balls for a split second, tires may have been a little cold, and he needs to get a track day or two under his belt to get laying a bike into a turn a little more down pat. Any of those things will fuck you. A combination of all three, and he's lucky to be alive.
Accidents happen, rider just had bad luck :) without using front brakes bike might'v been ok, first instinct is to slow down and then you press front brakes and whops.. oh hello squirrels and other magical forrest creatures
The problem was a combination of freshly painted yellow line and a rider's mistake.
Rear wheel lost traction for a second, while cutting the double line, the bike twitched a bit, and instead of leaning harder to the right, rider locked the front brake. Played it several times: rear wheel slips on the line, front wheel locks, then slips and bike goes out of control.
Buell has a lot of torque at low rpm, I saw several people crashing in similar circumstances.
First, if he wants to ride properly, learn to put his feet higher on the pegs, so they aren't scrapping the ground. Also, if you're trying to ride a faster corner, don't tip the bike in and counter-steer it through, try to move with the bike, lean with the bike and not against it.
i agree on trebor316, yellow lines is a no no. also look at the position of his body he is leaning agaist the bike. look closely as he took those curves. his body should go where the bike is. get to know your bike dude. this is a leason to be learned. get to know your bike. to free the air blow'n. "RIDE HARD LIVE FREE "! take care all.
watch the crash again. The rear tire slid out when it hit the yellow paint lines. When riding a curve, be aware of the paint cause it is slick compared to the road itself.
ow i use light rear brakes b4 i lean it depends on the rider and speed. Engine, front, lean. me i use Engine, front, slight tap of rear brakes then lean. i use that when im sort out of road. you better try it sometimes and tell me if you feel an inch of drift there. :) just dont over rev. peace Heelz
i already owned a GSXR1000 that i ride on mostly everyday. im planning to buy a B king this year. i've been riding motorcycle for 15 years also. and i'm a motorcycle mechanic, i test drived every motorycle i fix. don't use foul words, i can tell you love duel. its just my opinion again duell motorcyles are unstable. because of its design. i'd rather use a harly!!! i love HARLY!!! easy driven!!
a man's gotta know his limitations. HEY DUMMY!!! the rear brake doesn't work well on a street bike in the curves....use that technique for panic braking and dirt trails. Spex has to sell a few trikes before he can throw bones on a gsxr
1st use engine braking, 2nd front brakes, 3rd lean. only use rear brakes when you are expert in late braking. you can make your bike Fishtailed but not much don't go over it. it will turn out the way you did it CRASH!!!
he did'nt use the front brakes early at curve, he used slight pressure on the rear brake he didnt lean much. then when it fishtailed to the left he countered to the right. tire pressure and poor tire performance are some of the cause. even long ride can make us DZ and weak lets say we'll give him a break? my tip? again Roll over when you hit the floor, its better this way.
I'm guessing by the constant front wobble the front tire needed replacing. Also wear the gear man! Going for a burger is one thing but hanging on some twisties in a t-shirt is a stupid thing to do.
actually look again. you can see throughout the entire video the one in front shaking during cornering, it was only a matter of time before he failed. sorry to say.
Those yellow lines are slippery. I think he felt the bike slip and then applied to much brake, especially on the front (if you watch the front it looks like it locked up). Just an amateur mistake, did a lot of things wrong and that's how crashes happen.
As a former racer and instructor I have to agree with Michael. Prior to the crash his body position was all wrong. Hope he learned from this experience.
cheers m8, was a nice bike...ended up being totaled. Harley Davidson just didnt want to fix it i reckon. There a T shirt floating around that says "streetbikes, because golf is for pussies" when you gonna join the CFH man
#1 problem was not any of the above. It was lean angle/body position. You see that he comes out of that sweeping left and doesn't countersteer. His speed was ok if he had chnaged his body angle, leaned hard right, and looked well through that turn.
Lesson to be learned: Do all of your braking b4 the turn. Thats what I do.
@79nine totally agree. throughout the video you can actually see him leaning his body away from the corners. Also, beginners should be very careful when trail braking. People don't realize that you have a very limited amount of available traction, and to divide that traction between cornering and braking forces can be very risky.
Glad to hear he's alright and hope the bikes back up and running. Good eye jandjdavis, you have to lean with the bike, not against it (can be hard to do when you're really getting on it). Maybe a bit much of the rear brake in the corner too, looks like the rear slid out. That'll get you (been there)!
What a dufas, Ride within your limits, The rider got a bit of slide when the rear brake was applied then grabbed WAY TOO MUCH front brake (rookie move)
It looks to me like he panics and grabs the front brake as soon as it starts to slip. Seeing as how he wrecks by going flipping the bike over the front wheel.
All i have to say is the he's a dumbass for not wearing any protection (leather jacket, something on the arms) i do hope he is ok. but u have to accept reality when u get on a bike and just not panic. go get some experience before you try to ride the twisties like that. i agree with jandjdavis to a point. anyways i'll stop my little rave.
I think his bad riding form had alot to do with that crash as well. He was leaning the bike into the turn while keeping his body upright. If he were scooting his body off the bike and leaning the bike less, he would have had more tire to work with. But, it looks to me like he panicked and grabbed the fronts too hard after sliding the rear. If he does get back on a bike, take him to a large empty parking lot and practice panick stopping.

1. Wear proper gear
2. Stay off center line, it's too slick
3. Move your weight off the side of the bike to lower the center of gravity in the corner*

He was running wide all the time, looking at the way he was going over the lines constantly.
A crash was inevitable.
No tankslapper there either, just good old brakes being applied too quickly, and thus picking the bike straight up into the corner.
That being said, we all were n00bs once, and rather go down like that, than into a car or something worse.
