Her fame shows that she didn't jump into things without thinking whether or not GOD thought it was right for her. She has a strong relationship with GOD, you can't determine what her status with GOD is, nor can I, nor can Crystal. I'm not going to speak on Crystal's or Patti's behalf as to what they know, because you nor I know them personally 24/7.

I love each singer that you named. However, to say that COGIC has the best singers is mere opinion...not fact. Because the fact of the matter is as much as you and I both may love these singers, others may not feel as moved when they singer; thus, confirming that being considered the "best" singer is based solely on a particular individual's personal preference.
You need to open your mind. A singer is a singer. You need to stop worshiping these singers and your denomination, and concentrate on GOD. I have never questioned a singers denomination. If they are singing the praises of GOD I don't care, as long as they are Christians.

I ghot a chance to hear Crystal tonight at the 99th C.O.G.I.C. Musical in my hometown Memphis 10. All I can say is she is Amazing Live. She had everybody on there feet. Me being a singer, I stood there in total admiration cause her runs are fie. It just so happens that I juz heard about her like 2weeks ago on here.

Well let's put it this way. Majority of people know who Patti Labelle and Vanessa Bell Armstrong are - those who know R&B or Gospel. They have made their mark. Let's see where this woman goes. From your previous comments you apparently think no one can touch her and yet she is still a virtual unknown. Those are facts, not opinions. But time will tell. That said, I think the woman is great.
And while I'm on the subject, people need to learn to see past the theatrics of singing. Anyone with training can do a bunch of leaps and bounds up and down the scale. Having grown up in a Pentecostal Church, these types of singers are a dime a dozen. Look at the Lecresia Campbells, Wanda Nero Butlers, Lorraine Stancils of the world. All of them abundantly gifted and yet still no big recognition.

Crystal is a wonderful singer! It's my first time hearing her. I've heard about her for years. What I love is she doesn't just sing everything in chest voice. She knows how to switch registers effortlessly to the point where it's not always clear if she's singing in one register or the other. That's the mark of a good singer in my humble opinion.

Yes and that's because most of the people posting are from the church. If you had people listening that didn't grow up in a baptist or pentecostal church, you would get a whole other perspective. Of course people here like her. Who wouldn't? But this is church. The secular audience loves Patti so they would have another perspective. That's all I'm saying.
Also, by your very admission about "anointing", there's a thread with Crystal Rucker singing "Changed". There are some people who prefer Crystal's rendering over the original done by Tramaine. Both are, as you say, anointed, so why is there a preference? This wouldn't be the only thread based on gospel singers who some prefer over the another. Aren't they all "anointed"?
That's not 2 say Patti can't sing because she can. But we all know that when one sings under the anointing of God, u will be more inclined 2 listen 2 that individual. Why? The anointing is what makes the difference. Both Patti & Crystal r great singers. & like u said, it's simply one's preference. When I listen 2 a song, I listen 4 the message. Clearly Crystal gave us all a message in this song. Where will U spend eternity?
Yeah, yeeah, the "annointing". I've heard all that before. Nothing new under the sun. Church folk love to to go there when clearly that is not what is going on here. It's just another way to put someone on a pedestal because they sing gospel and not secular music. If Patti could run all over the place like Crystal, had all the C.O.G.I.C mannerisms, then Patti would be cheered for.
Apparently you've never been under the anointing of God. It does not put someone on a pedestal. It does however breaks and destroys the yoke of the enemy - something secular music doesn't. Church folk, as you say, tend to like what edifies the body of Christ. & as far as Patti, she can run like Crystal, don't need COGIC mannerisms, & is still cheered by "church folk".
In closing, it's clear that black church folk, in particular, like to throw around the word "anointing" like it clearly defines everything for everyone even people that didn't grow up in the culture. They also think it puts them above scrutiny. It's quite evident that we have our preferences, anointing or not, which is why I placed two gospel singers in the same text because it will still be preference.
If you've never experienced the anointing of God, then I wouldn't expect u 2 understand. But I want to encourage you to. God will use whomever he wants. It doesn't matter who is singing and what denomination they are from. By the way what is COGIC mannerism?

I just listened to Patti's version - all of them. She's good. But Crystal has something Patti doesn't which makes this song even better when Crystal sings it - the anointing of God. Patti is entertaining, Crystal is ministering.

Patti's fame does determine the presence of GOD, because she never has grown into being in the same level of fame as some of her contempararies. Her fame shows that she didn't jump into things without thinking whether or not GOD thought it was right for her. She has a strong relationship with GOD, you can't determine what her status with GOD is, nor can I, nor can Crystal. I'm not going to speak on Crystal's or Patti's behalf as to what they know, because you nor I know them personally 24/7.

I love each singer that you named. However, to say that COGIC has the best singers is mere opinion...not fact. Because the fact of the matter is as much as you and I both may love these singers, others may not feel as moved when they singer; thus, confirming that being considered the "best" singer is based solely on a particular individual's personal preference.

I ghot a chance to hear Crystal tonight at the 99th C.O.G.I.C. Musical in my hometown Memphis 10. All I can say is she is Amazing Live. She had everybody on there feet. Me being a singer, I stood there in total admiration cause her runs are fie. It just so happens that I juz heard about her like 2weeks ago on here.

Well let's put it this way. Majority of people know who Patti Labelle and Vanessa Bell Armstrong are - those who know R&B or Gospel. They have made their mark. Let's see where this woman goes. From your previous comments you apparently think no one can touch her and yet she is still a virtual unknown. Those are facts, not opinions. But time will tell. That said, I think the woman is great.

And while I'm on the subject, people need to learn to see past the theatrics of singing. Anyone with training can do a bunch of leaps and bounds up and down the scale. Having grown up in a Pentecostal Church, these types of singers are a dime a dozen. Look at the Lecresia Campbells, Wanda Nero Butlers, Lorraine Stancils of the world. All of them abundantly gifted and yet still no big recognition.

Not trying to take anything from Crystal Rucker, but Lecresia Campbell and Lorraine Stancil are the real deal. They are in a class all by themselves. Lecresia is a spectacular alto who can hit very high notes and Lorraine is a sensational first soprano who can sing baritone.

Crystal is a wonderful singer! It's my first time hearing her. I've heard about her for years. What I love is she doesn't just sing everything in chest voice. She knows how to switch registers effortlessly to the point where it's not always clear if she's singing in one register or the other. That's the mark of a good singer in my humble opinion.

I agree that this isn't a competition. However, when u have someone comparing talent to the anointing of God, realize there is NO comparison. U have 2 keep in mind that most of the people r commenting about the anointing they felt when Crystal sung it as opposed 2 when Patti did it.

Yes and that's because most of the people posting are from the church. If you had people listening that didn't grow up in a baptist or pentecostal church, you would get a whole other perspective. Of course people here like her. Who wouldn't? But this is church. The secular audience loves Patti so they would have another perspective. That's all I'm saying.

Also, by your very admission about "anointing", there's a thread with Crystal Rucker singing "Changed". There are some people who prefer Crystal's rendering over the original done by Tramaine. Both are, as you say, anointed, so why is there a preference? This wouldn't be the only thread based on gospel singers who some prefer over the another. Aren't they all "anointed"?

That's not 2 say Patti can't sing because she can. But we all know that when one sings under the anointing of God, u will be more inclined 2 listen 2 that individual. Why? The anointing is what makes the difference. Both Patti & Crystal r great singers. & like u said, it's simply one's preference. When I listen 2 a song, I listen 4 the message. Clearly Crystal gave us all a message in this song. Where will U spend eternity?

It's just another way to put someone on a pedestal because they sing gospel and not secular music. If Patti could run all over the place like Crystal, had all the C.O.G.I.C mannerisms, then Patti would be cheered for.

Apparently you've never been under the anointing of God. It does not put someone on a pedestal. It does however breaks and destroys the yoke of the enemy - something secular music doesn't. Church folk, as you say, tend to like what edifies the body of Christ. & as far as Patti, she can run like Crystal, don't need COGIC mannerisms, & is still cheered by "church folk".

In closing, it's clear that black church folk, in particular, like to throw around the word "anointing" like it clearly defines everything for everyone even people that didn't grow up in the culture. They also think it puts them above scrutiny. It's quite evident that we have our preferences, anointing or not, which is why I placed two gospel singers in the same text because it will still be preference.

I just listened to Patti's version - all of them. She's good. But Crystal has something Patti doesn't which makes this song even better when Crystal sings it - the anointing of God. Patti is entertaining, Crystal is ministering.
