Powell got promoted for being the toady of powerful white men. He was asked to whitewash the massacre at My Lai and did it. He is the ultimate token black, Uncle Tom, and chump. Bush used him at the UN before the Iraq invasion. That WMD fiasco destroyed Powell's credibility. Probably Powell endorsed Obama because he resents having been used by Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. But Secretaries of State with real accomplishments, like Kissinger, endorse McCain.
Reagan and Thatcher used to taIk about PERSONAL RESPONSlBlLlTY. They were great Ieaders, because they encouraged peopIe to heIp themseIves rather than to Iook for handouts.
Obama represents a false and unworkable system whereby the have-nots are encouraged to get ahead--not by studying hard and working hard--but by electing Robin Hood-type characters. All these Obamahoods require is votes. "You vote for me, and I'll rob him and give the 'wealth' to you."
You know what's funny. Powell may actually vote for the Republicans again. You just never know. Perhaps he is simply being diplomatic. How will anybody know for sure what private vote he makes. He may never disclose details of his vote anyway. The question is, who is better prepared to lead the country out of its present economic turmoil. Forget the issues of racial back ground. Who will make the USA a better and more safe place to live and improve the US image and relations with the Arab world
What if McCain were to receive 92% of the white vote... bpmdeejays-dot-com ...Search for Harlem... Cut and Paste this link showing the results of an interview with some residents of Harlem. They claim to support Obama, but they ALL agree on McCain's poilicies. Oh yeah, they also support Palin as Obama's VP candidate.... NO LIE. I'm not smart enough to make this up... check it out yourself...
when blacks folks were given permission to vote and have voted against Jackson and Sharpton for the white candidates elections after elections they weren't racists then but now that they are voting for Obama they are racists now?
It's amazing what can happen when ppl think for themselves rather than follow the crowd or status quo. At a time like this, the audacity of hope has spoken, and Powell has given his true heart-felt endorsement for god help us, the next president of United States of America (Senator Barack Obama).
come on Powel! Why did you lie on CNN today. We all know you have hots for Obama. However you got no idea about foregn policy. Thanks god you mumbled it and now we know what you've been up to. Powel is a bloody lier!!!
Wise words from a man who was disgraced by Bush/Cheney. I think you could take his words to mean McCain or Obama. I would be interested in his candid opinions on both candidates.
i also would be interested in his CANDID opinions. . i dont think he was disgraced by Bush, i believe he got tired of having his named latched to a failing administration who betrayed him selling him on WMD . . . i think he wants a fresh new sincere leadership just like the majority of working americans. . . well just have to see
yumabilal...you are very right, I mean Powell was as Republican as they came, but at a time like this, there is so much more at stake and he realizes that party affiliation alone is not what this election should be based on. He became tired of being a scapegoat and he left because he didn't want to disgrace his party, that's how humble he was to that party. But glory be to God, he has seen the light, and has excercised his right to vote. That's America best gift to us all!!! Let's use it wisely!
Why would you need to trust his judgement any way? Vote according to the mores and dictates of your own mind. May I also add: Vote according to the issues of life and vote according to what the LORD, Jesus (Christ) would have you do. Grace and Peace.
I did; but what YOU need to do is to "Think again". Remember when Peter asked Jesus about paying taxes? Jesus did ask him (for that society then) who was suppose to pay taxes? The foreigner or the natural born citizen? He said "Nevertheless go down to the lake and a fish will have enough coins to pay the taxes." The Bible commands us to obey the laws of our society (as long as they do not conflict with GOD.) Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar and render to GOD. God owns EVERYTHING.
Wrong again... LOL. But I'm not here to get into a spiritual debate with you. Though I don't believe in god, I've read the bible and you are... wrong. (and what does paying taxes have to do with voting? One does not HAVE to vote. You HAVE to pay taxes, however) Anyway, I happen to be black and will NOT being voting for Obama, as he does not have the experience nor the political "clout" I personally am looking for. In fact NONE of the candidates do, therefore I am NOT voting :)
if you voted according to the bible you would be more fearfull of the people who attempt to swoon you with verse's for those are the tactics of the antichrist.
the GOP has made so many underhanded deals with the Evangelical church, i doubt that their is a one of them left that isn't corrupt from exposure to political power.
the man who linked Bush to Jesus was Carl Rove an admitted atheist. How good could his intentions be.

Senator Obama is in sink with Americans, he has brought America together more than ever before, and he cares about what is going on in America. I and many other believe that he has Americans best interest in mind, and I believe that he is going to be the next President of the United States.
Rose-F, you need a psychiatric evaluation. We all know who causes the great majority of crime in America. Bring America together? You mean when Blacks feel emboldened by having a Black in the oval office, take to the streets in anger, or Obama tried to push through reparations? You'll have division and chaos in the United States like you've never seen. Watch what you wish for.
He still has credibility because he left the administration and since then he has been talking against some of their policies, on one hand when you look at Condi Rice, she is a disastrous puppet!
Well he didnt do anything to stop it did he? He could have left earlier. He could have made public denouncations. But he didnt. Hmph. I dont really can who he votes for I dont like him!
how can u denounce ur president (his former boss, bush jr and sr who promoted him to 4 star general) in public, he too mature for that. he is a respectful and honorable guy. he would not come out and say bush was wrong on the war. but he will distance himself from the administration which he did. but if u ask him about his views he will tell u the opposite of what the bush regime is saying. thats politics for you. its not street when u say i don't fuck with u cause u dissed me . u simply distance
Hahaha that's freakin' awesome, dunno which way he'll ultimately go but at this point he might as well be wearing a T-shirt of himself sitting in the UN with a glum face, waving an Obama sign over his head with one hand and sticking the middle finger of his other hand up at a picture of Bush!
Mr.Powell first you should ask for forgivness to the world, the un and the people of irak after 700,000 dead and 4,000,000 refuges. You stood infront of the international community with false evidence. If you knew your a discrace and if bush fool you, your and idiot because he never fool me.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) Kansas, on Jan 29th endorsed Obama for President with a highly motivating declaration approaching Obama's inspirational character.
He should be involved in an Obama cabinet somehow. It would be a great bi-partisan gesture as well as beefing up foreign policy credentials. Aside from the tragic presentation of the WMD case to the UN, this is one military leader I would trust. Might've prevented 8 years of Bush, if he'd ran in 2000.
I don't think he sees himself as "too big". I think he just wants to avoid the inevitable criticism that would ensue from GOP loyalists should Powell endorse a Democrat. Powell is one of few Republicans that a lot of Democrats can respect, and I don't think he wants to alienate any voters at the moment. He probably wants all Americans, despite affiliations, to make an informed choice. But yeah, sounds close to an Obama endorsement to me.
I'm in complete agreement with you; I feel it's still early for Mr. Powell to voice is true feelings. By backing any candidate, at this time, he could possibly hurt his candidate (either Democrat or Republican) since Mr. Powell is what I feel an unliked Republican within his own party.
Susan Eisenhower is a Republican like I am. ( a woman) What I dont like about powell is that hes beating around the bush like hes too big a person to endorese Barack Obama. I think he should just come out and say , Im for Obama. Geez, hes not the only Republican voting for obama.

Gen. Colin Powell had an insiders view of the last 8 years of Republican malfeasance at the executive level.
After having his trust betrayed by the neoconservative regime, he's endorsing Obama.
I suspect he knows that McCain would be 4 more years of the same thing!
I believe this will put Obama over the top. I don't see anyway that McCain can win now.
Although, early voting on DIEBOLD machines shows that George W. Bush leads both Obama and McCain in the state of Florida by double digits.
