You need an Optima Redtop, or Kinetic battery in your car! lol i can pound my two 12" subs for hours and still start my blazer no problem! (one battery too!)
Hi there, I have a few people coming over and I want to show them how dangerous these batteries are and of course everyone wants to see poof/boom, etc. Can I use a 12v 15Amp car charger (lead acid) to make it go BOOM or should I use the car charger on 12v 2 amp trickle? which is better? Thanks.
Like 5 years ago my sister's boyfriend had a new RC car and was running it outside of his apartment and the car bursted into flames like this. Whats ironic is i got into RC from his experience.
Yes, those LiPo's had very tight plastic covering. It is not easy to explode LiPo's.
After several cut off's this happened. Tight covering = pressure for explosion. NiCd programme and old charger. This video is supposed to be educational and even funny=)
Come on people they hooked it to a car battery for this to happen. If you take care of your battery and don't do dumb shit like connectiing it straight to a car battery then you don't have to worry about shit like this really. Use a lipo charger and follow the rules, they are there for a reason !! im sure this video is there for demonstration
I wonder what train of thought is going through that batteries rational mind as there filming this, my guess is 'Oh shit! I'm on fire! What are you guys doing to me! Put me out! Ahh it hurts, stop the pain...' etc. That's just my guess though.
@timpska LIFe batteries are not used in cars. Theres only one car that uses them and thats the new porsche but they cost 10 times more than an ordinary led battery
@ARX7ARBALESTZ7 If I am understanding you statement correctly they are called Li-Fe battries. They are safer because you dont have to worry about them discharging below 3 volts per cell like Li-Po therefore makeing them less prone to blowing up.
It was charged with older LiPo-charger, with NiCd-program. Which cut-off current several times. So we intented to do it. By our own risk. Just to show how it will goes, when it happens. It is NOT easy to do with update chargers, but it is still possible to blow-up your battery. Be allways careful with those products.
Hi ! About the video; It was misused older charger with NiCd-programme, and in reality, charger cut-off several times anyway. So I am trying to be kind of educational with this video; No modelers were harmed during filming=) But, this could happen in real life if there is some malfunction or misuse of equipment. Have a good and safe RC-season!
No, no, no-I have raced for a while and have seen NIMH overcharge-they would his and smoke but NEVER do this-this is like a F*&%ING blow torch! But thats electric rc for ya-whats the next hot battery tomorow because the one I just bought yesterday is already obsolete! Same for my motor, chassis ect..-he he.
They hooked it up to their car battery what the hell did they think would happen. When charged properly this wont happen. Just remember the the old NiMh packs would explode so thnk about it
hmmm xbox 360 wireless microphones have these kind of batteries in them and the battery itself says "DO NOT RECHARGE!" and microsoft gives you a cord and tells you to recharge.....i should sue
During racing at my indoor carpet 1/10 touring car club, i have seen a lipo pack go up from being damaged in a crash.... The guys here are showing you the potential of damage from an exploding pack - imagine if that pack was in your car or pit box.
I once had a nicad battery in my pocket aswell as my keys, the battery shorted through the keys when i was climbing up a steep banking, i could only get it out at the top because i was wearing jeans. Those pockets now have a lump of plastic in them, it burst into flames just seconds after i threw it out of my pocket, i think i was quite lucky!
I have been kinda expecting it to happen... Since I sent link to this video into American RC discussion group and was immediately asked to remove it as disturbing.
But to be honest... If average brain equipped person don't see that this is done deliberately in safe environment to see and to let others see what might happen if you mess things with Lithium Polymer batteries... I give up!

Just move all energy from 60Ah@12V lead battery into couple of 2,2Ah@11,1V LiPo's.
No triggers needed :)
Well, actually we got five NiCd delta-peak cut-offs during the process... and several warning's from the charger.
