  • the only thing i didn't like about this film was the image depicted of Tim Geithner and Hank Paulson....it's as if they paid the film director to sweeten their roles in the story....truth is quite different...

  • I cant find the DVD of this anywhere, HBO stop heel dragging and release it.

  • Amazing how we lived through such an event. We were just moments away from an economic collapse on a world scale.

  • did this film mention the CRA and its role in starting all this?

    probably not.

  • This trailer isn't good. I'm sure the movie is considerably better, but the trailer is NOT on the level I expected. VERY formulaic & unnecessarily predictable. Film's supposed to be a drama... where's the drama in that?

  • LIKE THIS IF YOU THINK "TOO BIG TO FAIL" IS BULSHIT!

In a capitalistic society (which we live in, not a democracy), companies should fail to open up chances to let small businesses to get ahead. There are no more entrepreneurs unless you create a app for a phone now in days. spread the love and yes I am still proud to live in this country.

  • @brettmfm if big banks fail everyone loses something big. companies that big heavily affect the global market, not just us :/

  • @dreamchaser2120 Exactly!! and it's our faults as well for letting these banks take over the market in banking and as well real-estate. We need that drastic change to increase our motivation. We shouldn't just stand around while these people get free hand-outs while they're cutting Medi-CAL in the state. I'm so ready for a little rebellion

  • Everyone in this comment page obviously has no idea how the GFC actually happened. This movie is based on the book which has all ACTUAL conversations between these men and the battle to save America. The GFC happened because of fault on everyone's part, including the taxpayer, not just the bankers. Anyone who thinks it was some kind of conspiracy is a fucking retard.

  • @fazthebro I had to sign in to give your comment a thumbs up, but i figured it was worth it, because it's actually one of the factually true things on the internet.

  • @fazthebro sorry bro but i thing lending money to someone that cannot afford to pay back and you know it ,then i think thislooks like more of a premeditated murder than anything else.

  • ótima abertura

  • I'm not sure how you run things in the states after this mess, but in Sweden we hold our banks in a really tight leash, since they've shown themselves uncapable of caring for peoples money. The ones to primarily blame for this not so small incident is the banks and the investment firms. You capitalist-huggers can say what you please in you defense.

  • @hEINRICh6669 IT WASN'T CAPITALISM THAT CAUSED THIS YOU BRAINWASHED MORON!!!

  • @BrettDunbar No? Then what is your explanation? I won't write some overly complicated explanation regarding what happened, i have pretty much the whole world on my side. And you Sir, are a twat.

  • @hEINRICh6669 Well, that's why you're not the largest economy in the world. :)

  • @Kavnn Or the fact that we have 9 million inhabitants.

  • @hEINRICh6669 "All day long, I listen to people give me excuses why they can't work... "My back hurts," "My legs ache," "I'm only four!" (с) Scrooged

P.S. I could add "9 million inhabitants" as well... ;)

  • @Kavnn Haha. Well, we're a Social Democratic country so big companies aren't allowed to make profit from poor or sick people, which halts capitalism in it's track. The kind of regulation we make use of makes economic progress somewhat slower but it also makes financial meltdowns near impossible.

Free education, free healthcare, a pension system that works, and a strong union.

It's friggin sweet to be Swede.

  • @hEINRICh6669 wish to know more about Swedish education, healthcare, pensions, unions; anything you can help me with? Links? Info? Thank you. Living in a soulless soceity of greedy rich bastards who will stop at nothing to amass ever more wealth through lies, power, deceit!!

  • @redwoodsron Wikipedia provides a basic overview under the title "Social welfare in Sweden". Unfortunately, the sitting government is working hard on demolishing our system, since they're all right-wingers. The idea of Social Democracy where everyone has a equal chance in a society don't sit well with their ideologies. Among many things they want to remove our healthcare-system and replace it with private insurance. Bastards.

  • @hEINRICh6669 <3 Sweden!!! I've always hoped my country (Italy) reached your level of equity and efficency!!!

  • @marcoveetee82 It's good to hear! I've heard that Italy actually surpassed our level of healthcare sufficiency, and I hope that means you are progressing well as a country in whole:) The removal of Berlusconi might help that. Safe travels to you!

  • @hEINRICh6669 The ones to blame for this were the investment banks, The Federal Government, The Federal Reserve Bank, and lastly the borrower. Plenty of blame to go around. This film mainly focuses on the role of the investment banks in the collapse. Capitalism is by far the best system in the world, but the funny thing is the US doesn't hand hasn't had true capitalism. Crony Capitalism or Corporatism is a better way to put it.

  • @hEINRICh6669 "Capitalism without bankruptcy is like Christianity without hell." - Kyle Bass, JP Morgan prodigy and founder of a massive hedge fund that correctly predicted both the housing bubble collapse as well as the default of Greece. This is not capitalism my friend, but you are right - those bankers should always be kept on a tight leash

  • Clearly a poor attempt to WHITEWASH the truth and keep the public in the dark about what REALLY happened. Just like that Moron Michael Moore's 9/11 documentary was made to white wash the real truth, the same with this. Do you people REALLY think for a moment that a masonic, illuminati, group like HBO films will really tell you guys the truth and expose themselves? Theirs ALWAYS a hidden agenda with hollywood. PERIOD!

  • LOOKS LIKE SHIT !!!

  • @priorzola I thought the movie did good job of sowing the lack of concern for the working class who are the only reason they made their billions. Every time mention of 'the people' came up, either sneering look or totally ignored. It became the elephant in the room which actually (for me) was so big it overshadowed the power players moves. sometimes the lack of attention payed to a subject matter actually brings more attention then focusing on it. the ending statement made that point.

  • Did any of the other commenters watch this movie? I am very anti-non regulated banking, also we as many of our friends and family, lost our homes during this. no we were not sub prime borrowers. just no one talks about how those with reg fixed mortgages got caught int the cross fire. Good job, HBO.

  • Good job at showing the inside workings of the new 'investment banking/real estate/insurance' conglomerates' how they broke our economy without concern for workers, and onto becoming, now even larger and more powerful.

  • @groundinghubris in other words the MIDDLE MEN. And that's the fallacy of trickle down theories. It forgets that the MIDDLE CLASS creates wealth through consumption not MIDDLE MEN through extending credit. When the MIDDLE MEN are the biggest beneficiaries of our economic activities, not the creators of products or services, not those who provide the service or who build the products, then there's something wrong. All these people do is take money from ONE group to another and SKIM off the top.

  • It's all a lie of a movie, just like W

  • Propaganda Bullshit. I could swear i see a movie like "W" by Oliver Stone.

  • giamatti you fucking whore. How dare you, coming from "John Adams", piece of feculent slime. You banker trouser sniffer. You could not skip this one, you fucking whore.

    Fucking traitor.

  • @biped19 What are you on about ? All i understood from your post is that you are angry.

  • @biped19 it's called ACTING. You're just mad that, unlike you, he can actually get a job.

  • @priorzola

Right, the actor is the biggest whore. Facts are facts, he didn't need the money. He blew his integrity. He's a whore. You need to live with that now.

  • LOL..It was aiiiight..LOL..

  • Hmmm, looks pretty cheesy
